I find it kind of funny Rei used the same attack right after the first time. I just like to imagine him being like “Alright lucky shot. But for real this time!”

@@skyfox4072 Yeah, but they still gotta stress on Rei's Nanto school of Suicho Ken. Just saying "Nanto" makes it too general. There's other schools of Nanto like Nanto Ho-oh Ken and the one Shin uses, since they're both Nanto practitioners, yet in different schools of the martial art

Urgh, that remind me the insanely awfull french dub, where the hokuto shinken and nanto seiken litteraly became "hokuto de cuisine" (kitchen knife) and "nanto de fourrure" (fur mantle)

I like Rei. His Nanto-Suichoken is a badass art. Still, I was underleveled for his fight, and almost lost. I had to slow myself down and wait until he presented an opening.

I have a poor habit of focusing on the "I almost lost" rather than the "I won." It's a terrible character flaw.

Hokuto Shinken vs Nanto Suichoken... This is quite a fantastic battle for the ages, that's for sure.
If there is one thing this game lacks, it's Rei being a total bro.
Saving it for the sequel
There are some sub-stories with Rei being a total bro.
There is one where Mamiya appears as well. And Rei and Airi go with Mamiya to her village but Kenshiro decides to stay.
It was Substory18 if I remember.

You know, Rei doesn't look half bad with brown hair as opposed to white. It really makes him remind me less of Polnareff.
Well looks black to me , but in the manga it was black ...so I could say they're going with the manga's color scheme

Each season has every different timeline.
At first I thought Rihaku was repurposed in this story to not be the leader of the Nanto Five Stars, which is why I accepted Kenshiro not knowing him, but then he said he knows Yuria and I know that Kenshiro canonically KNOWS who Rihaku is, since Rihaku raised Yuria since she was a child and Kenshiro and Yuria met each other when they were children.
So Kenshiro seeing Rihaku and not immediatly going “Where Yuria at?“ is basically non-sensical.
That was a TV series change. In the manga it was a man named Dharma who, in Yuria-Den, was the Last Nanto General before Yuria took up that identity to stay in hiding.

2:45 - interesting, as in the original I seem to remember Rei says Airi's veil become red from the blood of the people killed at her wedding/kidnapping day, including their parents [who apparently had the Nanto skill level of a crippled mole]. I wonder if they changed that to make Rei look more dangerous and cruel.
They probably changed it to play up the “heartless Wolf” thing Rei has going for him before he met Ken and the gang. Although I’m pretty the story about Airi’s veil is the same in the manga

-Hokuto Shinken (北斗神拳) means "Big Dipper Divine Fist"
-Nanto Seiken (南斗聖拳) means "South Dipper Holy Fist"
-Nanto Suichōken (南斗水鳥拳) means "South Dipper Waterfowl Fist"
the outcome of the fight is far away from manga. Both Ken and Rei wheer holding back when they fought in order to save Mamiya and Airi. Rei was equally strong as Souther, and that is from the official book of HNK. Even when Kenshiro scaled way stronger by the manga progressed they where at the same level when they knew each other for the 1st time (Then Rei got oneshoted by Raoh and Raoh lost every match against Ken... And yes, even in the draw matches Raoh lost).
Rei is one of strongest nanto fighters in the series, but he wasn't up with there with Thouzer. Thouzer brushed off Ken's attacks with ease, before his secret was exposed. Also Rei got stomped by Thouzer with ease in this game
The fuck? Rei was never equal to Souther. If anything, the franchise directly states multiple times that Souther is the absolute strongest Nanto master, that's the whole deal with his Nanto Ho-o Ken and his star of dominance. He's always been labeled as Nanto's strongest. Shew said all the Nanto practitioners were powerless against him and the official databooks have his power level at AA, while Rei is a whole tier below him (A).

I hate the QTEs in this fight. I lost the first time because I wasn't expecting it. I lost the second time because the QTE is different each time and I was primed to hit the wrong button.
It seems like unlike from what I’ve heard from the manga, everything ends on a happy note here.

Devil Rebirth uses it too, depending on how much damage you deal when you're on top of the platform. Playing on Hard I almost always had to climb the ladder twice to get him down.
Toki does it like 3 times, even though they are great, it's hard to see them more than once to tell the truth.
