  • In this video we'll take a look at a very nice chat from Nitecore. I've been using it a lot and it's fantastic. Enjoy!

I just got one of these chargers. Based on what I read about the Micro USB port, I opened mine up and I wasn't pleased how the solder joints for the 2 pins that hold the Micro USB port in place looked. Looked like after several plug insertions and removals the port might become loose, eventually breaking away from the current carrying pads. I reflowed those 2 solder joints and then tried to move the port. It seemed solid.
What I liked about this charger was that the current can be adjusted in 100mA steps from 100mA to 2.0A. You are not tied to 0.5A-1.0A-2.0A. Good for charging AAA and AAAA batteries.
The IR measurement seems high. In your video you had a battery measuring 187mΩ classified as "Good". That might be OK in low current applications until you get a new battery.

As I learned, if you connect the 18 Watts (or more) power supply, there will be "Quick Charge" message displayed.

oh i hate when people are talking about something and flipping the product, rotating it too fast and non sensically, can't see it. You do a great job of moving it slowly, in focus pans, making sensible commentary of what you are actually showing us on the camera,. Great job. I am a runner, cyclist, dog walker and camper. I have a a great UM20 charger, but sadly it no longer charges well after about 5 years. I think the micro connection is messed up, i need to put an elastic around it to keep some tension on the connector and it seems to work for now. I could also put my batteries in one of my bike lights which has a charging port built into the light. I will probably get this UMS2 charger. Thank you so much. I am also looking at one of the fenix chargers. Have you looked at that one? I also have a number of power banks (for a small bag on my bike to power my GPS past 10 hours). 5k-10k mah is a nice small one to fit in a small frame bag, my 10k is a bit big. Do you have any recommendations on power banks? I need the equivalent of about 4 phone charges. The demo i saw from nitecore is that it will charge a battery at 3 amps if you have one battery in there, but with 2 batteries it steps down, i think to 2; as long as you have the 3 amp block or equivalent. How has the charger been since August? Thanks.

Will this charger work when the cloud hits the solar panels? Will it go back to charging after sun shine again or there are problems ?

    Hello,
I have a doubt that I would like to clarify.
I generally use my UMS2 to charge Ni-MH battery types, recently I purchased a few USB rechargeable 650mAh 14500s and I observed that the batteries charge in almost 2hrs 40mins using a 5V 1A power supply with USB cable and nearly 2hrs with the UMS2 charger but after the charge reaches 650mAh the charger doesn't stop unless it reaches 4.2V. So is it ok to charge the 14500s till they reach 650mAh because I thought charging the USB rechargeable batteries with an Intelligent charger would likely extend the life of the battery compared to a constant power supply when every possible and while traveling I use the USB cable way. So which is the preferred method to charge USB rechargeable batteries to extend the life.

I have a 4 slot charger that does not display battery type or voltage and is a bit big for travel, this ine looks like it will do quite well for travel or energency charging during power outages
