- What a way to kick off the ice fishing season! The snowstorm hit and the perch started to chomp. We caught fish on a verity of baits today, slab raps, spoons tipped with worms, jigs. It didn’t seem to matter. The ice is looking good on the north end of the lake and there have been snowmobiles out. There are still thin areas so as always, use caution!

You're right... us Midwest people would be happy with those 10" perch on lakes... Mississippi River we have nice perch! Looks like a blast man

Okay, I’ve done all kinds of fishing, but never ice fishing, so I gotta ask….. why are you holding the poles like you’re using chopsticks?
Also, in Idaho are you not allowed to put fishing shacks on the lake and leave them through the winter?
Helps with hand and wrist fatigue. You are constantly vertical jigging. Have to set the hook in a straight up motion every time. And that shack is a collapsible hub type. Put it up when ya get in the ice. Take it down when ya leave.
