"Bro thinks I don't see him." Adorable! I work from home, but I usually just close out my work browser and turn on an aquascaping video to help me chill
@10:30 I think I already said this but I use those pill cases that have days of the week on them. Some even have another row for AM feeding and PM feeding. Got mine from the dollar store
QOTW: First thing I do after coming home is say hello to all my pets and listen to how their days was. My cats greet me at the door maoing about their day, my Kiwi-Birb will be beeping and cheeping at me before I even open the door since she can see coming home me from her window. Frogs do not care and usually hide. Fish don't exactly tell me about their day but it's nice to watch the shrimpin' shromps scuttle about and the khulis wriggle through the moss.
Those are keyhole cichlids at 2:06. 11:04 That is also why I plan on using the pill reminder containers while attaching a label telling them what date to add the food for each day. As for what I like to do after work, it is video games.
QOTW: I like to do my nails when I get home. Okay hear me out. After work I go rock climbing at my gym, and it always chews up my hands. So I always wear nail polish to protect my nails; don’t want them to break (that hurts like hell). So I come home, wash the chalk off my hands, and do a whole manicure. Take off chipped polish, trim cuticles, nail oil, hand cream, whole thing. After food I then put on nee polish. I’ve gotten pretty fast. I find it soothing. And self care is important. Wanna protect my hands and nails, especially since I’m so rough on them.
5:19, been there done that. Wet scrubbing with expired credit card does wonders, Extreme cases can be cleaned with a wipe coatet in vinegar (lower the water level before that).
I have been preparing 10 gallon fish tank With live plants And snails and other things for the past 2 months, In today is the 1st day It will ever see a fish in it🤗I have a crown tailed beta In it and I would have gotten a short tail but I told my sister to just Put her favorite 1 at the register and we would go home with it And she chose the crown because I forgot to tell her About how that can be bad for the fish. I'm sure I will be able to keep it alive because It's 10 gallon and that is the only fish in there. I'm super exited👍
I swear this episode is somehow related to me because i have had a blind green cory, a betta fish named Pheonix and another betta fish that looked like the black and blueish-white one.
Probably my favorite thing to do when I get home from work is greeting my wife and children. Big hugs, asking them how their day went, etc, then changing into comfy clothes and getting dinner ready.
My favorite this is stare at my fish I got some new baby bettas and it's so fun watching them explore big planted tanks for the first time, one was doing the death roll and shaking a snail around until she figured out that's not food 😂
I love making a new scape. Problem is when you are just starting out. Every glass and plastic container looks like a make shift tank. Especially when you don't have enough plants and each container can be a grow out container. Thank God I have space now, because now my wife doesn't have to see my ugly tanks until they are ready. In about 6 more months :(
We have blind fish in our caverns in Virginia. I know that it has a tunnel at one time that connected to the river. But it has been collapsing for about 10 years. I had to put a fence around the parking lot area where the tunnel kept collapsing, but that’s why the fish are in the caverns, but apparently they were in there along enough to convert to the blind darkness of the cave.
7:00 for real. My betta Lady Framboise is getting old and has taken to living at the surface in a little spot she cleared to make a bed in really tall stems. Please make sure you have nice places where your Betta can rest close to the surface so they can get air without expending too much energy. Especially when they're aging.
QOTW: My favorite thing to do after I get home from work is usually sitting on the couch before making dinner. I gotta just vibe for a few before my brain switches modes.
I'm retired so I'm at home all day. So I'm currently upgrading my 20L to a 30L. You wouldn't think I'd be having trouble with the scaping. But I am. Of course I had to get all new EVERYTHING, rocks, and sand for the substrate. But I will be using some of my gravel from the other tank. Oh, and I'm using the same filter to. I definitely don't want to lose all of my biological stuff. 😅 see? I ain't dumb. I been watching 👀 you fur a bit. LOL 😆.
I have been keeping bettas in 4.22 gallon tanks and having great success. I do however , have them packed with plants and do weekly water changes. The two I have now are super active and responsive. I guess it depends on the care. But I did try smaller tanks in the past and nothing short of this has worked.
My favorite thing after work is sitting with my bf while he’s home on his lunch break. He comes home from work like 30 minutes before I need to go to bed, so I love our designated hour of talking and being cute together
My fav thing is too watch my aqauriums for hours I have 5 tanks including one bowl with shrimps and 1 tank for turtle I love too see them their natures ❤❤
Started my first ever tank with parents who don't understand the hobby, they bought like 2 different pairs of tetras, freaking 2 rasboras A betta fish, and 2 algae eaters all for a 6 gallon, I tried to tell them about the overstocking, possible fighting and chemical spikes. They continued to ignore me, but I got the term they're just fish and they could survive as long as they're in water. Well.... as we could've imagined there was probably a huge Ammonia spike (didn't even buy water testing kit after i informed them MULTIPLE times on the benefits.) and the rasboras as well as the betta died, now the tetras are stress schooling, and the algae eaters are doing algae eater things. Any tips for help?
I don't know man you might just wanna restart And see if your parents have learned anything. My parents also don't know anything about the hobby So they stay Away from all my tanks and just let me do everything. The only downside is that I have to pay for all of it😢And I'm not even old enough to get a job. Just tell them you want 1 singular betta fish And nothing else.
My favorite thing that I do once I get home from work is pick up Mr. Pibbles (the cat) lift him up like Simba from lion king and spin around 3 times saying " kittyyyyy, hellooooo kitty meow meow! " and then he meows at me and I put him on his cat tree and sit down to write my list of things I want to get done after work ( he often sits on my lap while I do this, and distracts me asking for pets)
My mother was babysitting one of my toddler nephews while I was at work. He decided to “feed the fishies” and dumped an entire jumbo can of fish flakes into my 20 long. Nothing survived. I’m retired now, no work, no school. My favorite thing is the same though. I like to read.
You don't want my life lol but I used to take off my shoes and just stretch my toes. Now when I get home, it's the dropping of the bag that gets me 100% in the thankful I'm home mode. Just drop the 3lbs of yarn and yarn accessories. Instant relaxation.
QOTW: my favourite thing to do after work is hang out with my cat and watch TH-cam while playing puzzle games on my phone, to decompress until I can summon the strength to cook, do housework etc

I have a Cory who had two eyes when I got him and then one day he only had one eye. Not sure what happened because I have a very peaceful aquarium. This happened about couple of years ago and he is still doing fine.😊
12:16 That's a great idea! Stores could have a tank (aka box w/ a bubbler) that just holds ceramic media. Put 1 piece /betta cup. Easy, cheap, & helps the fish until the water or cup change tomorrow. Any used media goes back in bubble box to regrow its colony, grab a new piece, put it in the new betta cup, repeat forever. Genius! Let's go further!! Person who buys the betta can keep the media piece and use it to jump-start their filter! What a great up-selling tactic, huh?! It's not like the the Store cares, they can afford it. I know they got a spare water-tight box and a bubbler lying around somewhere. Finding & Refilling the sold media shouldn't be hard either! I'm sure bags of ceramic filter media (like BioHome) get busted/returned all the time.. just store-use one of those bad boys and you're good to go for a _loooong_ time. 4.5/5 idea keep it up 👍
QOTW. Before I retired, my favorite thing to do was play video games. Now that I am retired, I still enjoy a good game between chasing my grandson around.

That feeding tube just makes no sense to me. The food already sinks pretty quickly and the fish are eager to snap it up, but most can't get to it and only a few at a time can. Pls stop hating on hornwort😂😭. Yes if you don’t trim it correctly you will have rotting spines everywhere in your tank but this happens with every plant that you never trim. Hornwort just needs to be trimmed a bit differently. Instead of cutting back NEW growth and replanting that like with the usual stem plants, let it float near the water surface and cut back the OLD growth. You can see this by it being less green and usually it starts to sink a little bit. It is amazing at keeping nitrates low in my turtle tank! And it will grow in any tank.
Yahallo and happy FTR day everyone!! Thanks Chris, I really needed this today. I need an injection of FTR wholesomeness right into the brain after our political debacles here in the US. Wishing all a wonderful week and if you read this far into my tldr, you're awesome, you're the best and you will have an even extra super wonderful week. ✨✌️✨ Chris!!! Are you not Asian?!?!? Is the Asian wearing off up there in maple land?!? Studio Ghibli is pronounced 'jib-lee'...😂🤣😅 QotW; that was a really weird beginning to the QotW...😅 Favorite thing to do when I get home is of course do a walk through of my tanks while the kettle heats for my afternoon coffee fix, shower, cook something yummy and watch some anime. It's the best! I destress watching my pygmy Corydoras be goofballs, the Badis be beautiful assassins, my Betta Framboise begging for bloodworms, heck, I might even see some Galaxy Rasbora fry in their tank, how many snowball shrimp are berried etc and then clean the grime off the bod, fill the belly and sit with the dogs and watch some comedy anime. That's a def cure for the long day/ bad day. 😌
9:10 i had two mollies (both have died rip) they had a baby, that’s white with black spots. she’s living happily in my 55 gallon. and has the biggest personality . My duckweed no longer lives because of her lol
Petsmart, here in Ontario, is willing to pay the fines. If you see a petvalu with bettas. It's the individual owner choosing to pay the fine. Petvalu doesn't make enough to pay the fines and is no longer dealing in fish. Petsmart makes enough money, they can afford the fines and still profit.
Oh no. I have to point out the fish feeder thing. That lady ive seen her tank before The hippo in the tank has super sharp teeth and it SNAPS shut after one big bubble. I noticed she has it turned off in this video, likely because it killed the rasboras she had in the tank.

That lady ive seen her tank before
The hippo in the tank has super sharp teeth and it SNAPS shut after one big bubble. I noticed she has it turned off in this video, likely because it killed the rasboras she had in the tank.
