Little known fact but you can take your pet fish on planes which is why TSA didn't say anything. As long as they are in a clear container that won't leak and aren't invasive. He acts like he got them but he was actually just following the rules...
Usually the airline themselves are the ones to disallow fish on the flight. Had a friend take fish through tsa fine but they had to hide the fish (in sealed bags) in their carry on when boarding because the airline they were on had a no live fish policy, you could take live crustaceans on though for some reason
Transporting live fish on a plane is allowed, you just have to tell TSA. There was no need to torture the poor beta by removing nearly all it's water. It could have been transported much more humanely in a normal breather bag from the LFS. A quick google search would have told him that. :( Anyway... QOTW: Eevee! I don't play the game anymore but I still love Eevee's. Second favorite Snorlax, so cuddly
That last one reminded me of the saltwater minnow I took home from the docks growing up. Lasted a whole year living in a jar, being fed brine shrimp and blood worms. We'd make frequent drives to the docks to get a bucket of fresh sea water for water changes. That little minnow lived for almost 2 whole years inside a 1 gallon jar in the kitchen window. We got so serious with it that we even bought the little guy an air stone to get more oxygen. This same monster of a kid (me) had multiple goldfish live over a decade and would steal tweezers to pull rocks out of their mouths in "mini surgery" mode to save them.
TLDR: there are valid reasons to fly with a betta fish, and a water bottle isn't a totally crazy choice for a container! I used to take my betta fish back home with me for holidays when I lived in the dorms at college. They close up those dorms completely over longer breaks, so I couldn't pay someone to go take care of him. I just had one 5-10g tank at home and one 5-10g tank at school lol so the only thing I needed to bring was the fish himself. I also used a water bottle (one of the bigger reusable ones, though), because I felt it was better to have a nice sturdy container, and it wasn't any smaller a volume of water than he'd have been in in a bag. Plus, it was only 4-5 hours of travel total. In retrospect I don't think the water bottle was the best choice of container - I opened the water bottle lid whenever it was safe to do so to try and ensure he never lacked oxygen, but now I know that that probably increased the ammonia level and screwed with the pH - but you live and you learn.
My lucky fish was a dojo loach that jumped from the tank and spent 3 days on the dry carpet butt breathing (most of it in hiding, I thought a cat got it), and I found it by stepping on it. It lived another 4 years and was still the friendliest fish in the tank.
@@Fish-aquaticz I don't believe Kuhlis have the same ability to breath through their butt. In cananda, paid about 3 each for amanos at petsmart recently
QoTW: My favorite pokiemans is arcanine
Petsmart here in San Antonio Tx has the shrimp for 59cents can confirm
The 59 cents shrimps are real!!... at least here in Puerto Rico lol, i bought 3 shrimp for less than 2 dollars
Hi from Australia 😊
ahoy
A 50 gallon for a single betta fish (plus a nerite snail)? And here I thought giving mine a 20 long all to themselves would be spoiling them! 😅
Also looked at the other comments, and yeah I do remember Irene from Girl Talks Fish actually took her old betta fish on a plane to give to her friend and didn't have any issues. There was even an image of him going through the x-ray machine!
Beautiful scape in that next tank, absolutely mindblowing 😮
Another great and beautiful tank, huge with a nice scape and full of schooling behavior with a pair of kribs, and a very entertained kitty
edit: Ohhh the qotw! XD
So many good ones come to mind for me like zangoose, floatzel, dragonite, charizard, raichu, so on and so forth...
I shopped at the “Pet Supermarket” or something like that. I think I got 10 Amanos for $5. They are “feeder shrimps”. They have already bred and I have 6 shrimp babies. So yeah… about .50 a piece.
Those aren't amano shrimp then. Amano are actually very difficult to breed in captivity. You probably got ghost shrimp. They do look similar.
@@mokko759 lol. Probably. I don’t trust any info outside the LFS. They were cheap which is why I bought them. Eventually I’ll buy my blue dreams…
@@Just_Derek Nothing wrong with a bunch of ghosts, especially for that price.
Now I want a saltwater pest tank. XD I'm a Freshwater keeper. :x
Zygarde 50%,really underrated mon
Also the guy who snuck the betta through tsa should have his entire search history checked, no way thats a sane man's doing
50%? I don't know what that means haha too new for me!
@@FishForThought in the original game you got an item called a zygarde cube, you need to walk around and you find zygarde cells randomly. Then you can change the form of your pokemon to whatever form you like after you changed the 10% to 100%
Can't go wrong with a Metamon 😁... something about that derapy little smile and those beattie little eyes🤣
I have a massive piece of driftwood in my yard. And I haven't boiled it. Man I messed up my tank water so badly
My favorite pokemon is Luxray!
11:30 yhh that's a great meme😂
hehe
Hey hey FTR crew, hope everyone has an awesome week!! I missed last week and I've been stressed about it😅. Fam health issues are the worst. Don't forget to tell your fish and fish fam you love them. ✌️✌️
QotW; fav Pokemon are char char Charmander for the design and Bulbasaur because I'm a plant nerd so that's the one I really connected with in a soul level. 😂
yeahhh bulbasaur!!!
Nine Tails all the way. How many gallons do I need for that? Are fire tanks equivalent to water in husbandry or do they need even more room? First time fire keeper...
Water from the fountain wouldn't be too cold? I assumed water fountain water was chilled most of the time
My local store wanted to sell my Blue Velvet shrimp for 9€/unit.
Not even a rare color, even the cherry shrimp where that price.
I don't know what they drinking, but it's insane.
My fav is Greninja
greninja so cool but the scarf tongue throws me off
@@FishForThought yeah I just force myself not to imagine that its his tongue.
I'm in Canada and I was surprised that our local Pet-Valu just started selling fish, and they're way cheaper than PetSmart.
It’s her shrimp tank on her head. 😂
I bought amanos from petco and they turned out to be grey cherry shrimp
Wouldnt the infared scanners, and the xrays just make the fish blind? Oh and in the U.S. Amano shrimps are not the most popular so they are around 3-5$ each. QOTW is dragonite, i remember using him to defeat the elite 4 and champion.
When I was a kid, I had a betta jump out of his tank while I was at school. 😆 I threw him back in tank, intending ti take care of his corpse when I finished my homework, only to see him swimming around like nothing happened. 🤣He lived for a long time afterwards too, after I made sure to get a cover for his tank. 😉
That's the first betta fish 🐟 to go 31,000 feet in the sky.
Facts
Medaka rice fish have them all beat tho.
Breeding on the ISS, an activity not even humans have done.
Hmm not so sure. Betta fish are also shipped from breeders to people who sell them.
I hate people who take care of themselves but have no concerns for animals. Inflation has a bitter taste in my mouth and made it difficult to purchase anything. Life in America.
I'm literally at the fish shop rn
Defo a total water type in Jumpluff my lost March boi. Palafin for water types
jumpluff super awesome
the 59 cent shrimp were ghost shrimp.
I have a 100 way tie in the favorite category. Here is a few: Lunala and Solgaleo ( I'm a sucker for the Sun and Moon comparison for some reason ). Arceus ( Because, 🙏 aaahhhhhhh 🙏 ). Bulbasuar ( My Bulba Playthroughs on Pokémon Red were always the smoothest ) . All the Monkey Pokémon 🐒 ( if it's in anyway like a monkey I dig it).
Lol, mmmkay, later yall
Thats insane! Our ghost shrimp are $.59-$.90! I feed them to my crawfish.
the amanos are 79 cents in mississauga!
They're $10 in Calgary. 😭
It would be cheaper to buy and ship 10+ amanos from Mississauga than it would be to buy 3 here in Calgary.
@@mokko759 cheapest i have found is $30 in Australia.
@@0action847 That's painful
That little saltwater tank earns a solid 5/5 on the trypophobia freakout scale 😰
agreed
"I'm expecting water-type pokemon" LOL
I'm a Charizard kid. It's a dragon, can't go wrong there.
Close second is Pidgeot. Big birb.
QOTW: My favorite is Sandile, and all of its evolutions, child me was given it as a toy, which I would take to the pool and play with, didn’t know what Pokémon was so I just called it “ crockey”.
