    Here to agree with everyone else. That 911 operator is incompetent. Acting like he’s having little side conversations in the background, then a lame “apology” followed by asking for information he’d already been given several times. For the record, I realize he’s typing and trying to record all relevant information, but there was no sense of urgency, no reassurance, no perceptible concern for the victim, or regard for the safety of the caller (how could he be sure the shooter wasn’t still nearby and armed/dangerous?). Just terrible all around.

    I rarely leave comments on TH-cam but I absolutely have to say this man is probably considered an "elderly nosey neighbor", the best kind of neighbor! He was so calm, intelligent, professional.....he did his best to save this man's life! I personally, probably would have touched the injured party in attempt to help him however; If it were different circumstances I would have destroyed evidence in doing so. I believe this man assumed help would be arriving ASAP. I can't even exaggerate how this calm, concise, clear mannered gentleman/hero was underestimated. As far as the 911 operator... I understand they go through a number of 'misleading' calls, but this call should have been taken seriously. If it were a young dentist or lawyer calling, how differently he would have been listened to. Unacceptably dismissed OVER & OVER because he sounded like an old nut? I am sorry but the receiver of this call is lacking common sense. I don't take 911 calls as a profession. I understand there is a wide range of calls coming in however........ I sincerely hope this 15-minute call did not cost the man his life. He definitely did not deserve to die this way. No ill intent, but I hope he would have died regardless. If not, then the smart, elderly, 'nosey', neighbor was disrespectfully disregarded and the 911 operator should be on trial and if I were a judge or juror.... idk but 911 operators need a higher education on people skills and common sense.

    This neighbor is the main reason this case was able to be solved. He was on point. If they weren’t looking for a Prius would the authorities even been able to start the case? They would’ve had to start with motive and they may not have been able to get enough evidence to charge and convict.

  • @cynthiaedwards6706
    @cynthiaedwards6706 5 ปีที่แล้ว +17

    By deduction alone I would surmise that the man has been shot by the person seen fleeing at a rapid rate of speed. Window shattered, blood all over, the man is grunting but not talking at all, I would deduce he has been shot, not maybe he shot himself!! The operator didn’t even hear that he had blood on him initially. Wow! If his life depended on this 911 operator, I see why he didn’t make it.

    To everybody: If you come across someone who looks like they might be dead check for a pulse and breathing. Then put something absorbent and soft on the wound. If nothing else, put your shirt on the wound. Your objective is to stop the blood flow. If there is a heartbeat do not do CPR. But you can help them with their breathing by adding your breath to their's if they are having trouble. Get 911 there and keep the patient alive even if he stops breathing and you have to pound his chest to get his heart started. Then do CPR.

    This dispatcher reminds me of the dispatcher who answered Amanda Berry's 911 call when she told him she broke free from being kidnapped for the past 10 years. She was terrified the abductor was gonna show up at any second and find her. Dispatcher told her they have more important calls and they'll get a car there whenever. No urgency at all. For an operator who is clearly not listening or capturing accurate information (apparent from duplicate qustions), he sure is typing a lot! Makes NO sense. This is incredibly difficult to listen to. It is a disgrace. Sorry if I sound harsh.

    everyones hating on the operator but his entire job is to gather information and relaying that to the emergency crews. and he sent the crews out within a few minutes of the conversation. And who knows how rural this guy was or how far the paramedics had to go. operators don't save lives, they gather information.

    911 operators have to repeat questions, because they are gathering evidence from person who is calling.

    Oh my God! This is a sin - it may not have been a survivable GSW but fire/rescue would have been there in 3-6 minutes with a ACLS bus following nd any chance there was a gun or gsw police should have been there priority. 14 plus minutes - I'm nauseous- they should sue - our tax dollars at work

    I have a question Mr. Giger. How can you watch your neighbour writhe for 15 minutes and do nothing?

    • @La_Ru-yg8es
      @La_Ru-yg8es 5 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      Because he's not a trained medical practitioner, because moving him could do more harm than good, because he was not directed to start CPR or to do anything by the 911 dispatcher, and because emergency help should have arrived much more quickly than it did. I'm shocked it took so long, in a decent sized city like Tallahassee.
