    The reason the buttons on Caudabe weren’t good is because you have the older version. The new version has updated buttons and are great.

    Tight fitting cases are actually a good thing especially for a face first drop. Some cases that are loose the screen can pop out of the case and hit the ground damaging it.

    My favorite case for now is the 360 spin cases, especially the fusion one, from torras. They make the best screen protectors with the easiest application method that always becomes perfect, tried their case and love it. It has an integrated ring mount or whatever they're called that is so integrated into the case that it doesn't get in the way and it has a magnet so it can be used to attached it to any metal at most angles. Still works with wireless charging and to have other things on it like a magsafe wallet, the magnets are stronger rather than weaker than the original ones.
    To be able to have a ring mount integrated into the case so you always have it available and can mount it almost everywhere, both attaching it to things and standing it up in different angles, is invaluable. That makes it easy to have only one other attachment, a magsafe wallet, or none at all.
    I came from using mostly otterbox over the years. Have had many of their cases, from the most protective defender ones that encase the phone in an extreme shell to the folio leather wallet cases that I've used the last 4-5 years for my iphone xs max. Sadly, otterbox are usually bad in the comfort department and focus more on durability. The defender types tend to be extremely big and uncomfortable to use, especially if you use the max/big versions, I'm going to order a 6.9" iphone 16 pro max as an upgrade to my iphone xs max after 6 years, so I definitely don't want a huge case that makes it unwieldy.
    The folio wallet case has been decent but they end up falling apart after a while and is just basic at best. My current one has had rubber fall off everywhere despite not using it too much over a few years. It also sucked extremely bad because you it was almost impossible to get the card out. It's annoying to take off too.
    Now I just want a nice, somewhat slim yet still protective case that is not a folio case that allows wireless charging. A built in stand is always great but the "pop socket" ones suck. The angles suck, the chonkiness of the back of the case sucks and it's just a way worse option compared to the integrated ring that doesn't protrude out and can be flipped 360 degrees and be tilted in any way you want and can be attached to stuff.
    If we now have 6.9" phone screens, they definitely qualify for watching any content on the go, even more with the insane optimal battery time of 33 hour video watching, which translates to a good chunk less for real watching but still enough for an entire day easily. Hell, my damn carplay unit that I just installed is 6.8", in some ways it'd be a better experience to use a car mount for my new phone, but of course it's just not as good in the end as a dedicated GPS and media unit for the car.
    Looking forward so much to getting a new phone. Using my 6 year old XS max is painful, the hardware is too old, the software updates are too much since they need more processing power than it can comfortable output, it gets hot easily after just some browsing, the camera is lagging, the camera sucks in the first place especially in the dark but the max zoom is 2x, the face ID doesn't work so I have to use my password for everything (cleaned my phone and some water got in due to old rubber sealing and the laser locked down for safety reasons), it has a big crack at the bottom and I can only use it for a few hours before it needs to charge. Will also be nice to change my watch, the apple watch 3, to apple watch 10. 7 years old and hasn't received updates for quite a while now, it simply is subpar in every way and responds very slowly.
    Gotta say I held out for a long time. It has been low on my priority list due to economic reasons as a student, but now I can finally get rid of it and maybe start upgrading every 2-3 years instead and sell the old one while it still has a decent value... My xs max and watch is so old by now that they're hardly worth any real money, maybe as spare parts or for very poor people, like a few dozen bucks at most. The watch is at least in good condition while the phone has a crack in the screen and face ID that doesn't work. I'll probably put them up for auction and just sell them at whatever price they end up at.
    Well, back to the point, cases are very important. Nowadays they need to support QI charging, have a good magnet, fit tight but not too tight, maybe have extra functions like a built in stand and be protective, preferably protruding enough around the camera at the back that it protects from falls, about a few mm above them. It's easy to get screwed over with a crappy case if you don't research a little. Cases that might even ruin some functions like QI charging or magsafe if used.
    Luckily cases for watches aren't needed at least. I used to have some full body cases, but they just make the watch bulky, are uncomfortable to use and honestly doesn't help much in the end because the watches are very durable and are unlikely to be dropped, if they get a hit right on the screen while you swing your arm around, the screen will probably break anyway. The best thing to get is just some nice plastic screen protectors and change them regularly to avoid a lot of scratching. They are only good to have if you work somewhere that increases the risk of them breaking a lot. Better to just throw the money for a good watch case into apple care+ instead.

      You are entitled to your opinion, after all a tier list is highly subjective most of the time. But I did a poll which you can check under community which 62% of my audience agreed on, which stated “do you care about the ability to easily remove the case”, and me myself, I do too. A case can be top notch, but if you have to put alot of force on it to be removed, it’s not well tailored, and a case’s ability to protect it is definitely not tied with a tight fit. Anyway, there’s still 38% that do not care about it, so I’ll try to give those a voice too!

    Helpful video. But I have not taken the case off my phone for months. If anything I prefer my case to be harder to take off since it probably means it won’t come off easily over time. In fact I’m replacing my case now because it flexes off the phone to easily.

    I honestly loved this video because it was basically a sure fire way to find a case out there that has as minimal camera bump as possible (even if that means having a thick case). Looks like if I want as flat of a back as possible without excessive grip (like dbrand), I’m going with the Rokform Crystal case. Probably gunna regret the decision but the only other cases that came close were the blackbrook and otterbox. But couldn’t bring myself to pay 119 for the blackbrook and didn’t even bother pricing otterbox.
    Thanks for the work you put into this video!

    the corners on the rebel are a design choice doesnt mean its unrefined it is for added drop protection. the ones on the front allow for screen protection so they can keep the sides low for ease of use and on the back it is to minimize the rock due to the camera

    • @Unfilterd
      @Unfilterd  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah but it’s unrefined because it’s sharp pieces of plastic, you can make it without it being sharp too. It’s sharp because of how thin you make it, and how much you polish it up after it comes out of the mold in the factory

I took a huge risk on getting nomad for phone because it’s cheaper than otterbox and lemme tell you one thing, it sure as hell will protect your phone even on rocky surfaces. Im suprised the mous limitless 5.0 case was put in C tier. Basing the rank off of the fit of the case and the way it looks is poor considering the protection these cases provide. I've dropped my phone numerous times with this case and not once have I seen damage. The tier list should way more into the protection the cases provide and less into the looks and feel, not that these don't matter but that part is preference.

    Great list. Could you tell how the Nomad Rugged edges do with swiping-? cause it’s rather annoying if they get in the way too much. Also Mous has indicated that their Clarity 2.0 does not offer the same protection as their Limitless. How much less they didn’t tell, which worries me: other brands are transparant about their level of drop protection. Further: this list is not complete without Rhinoshield, because they make nice protective cases, one of the best buttons, eco friendly and come in a variety of designs. Cheers from Holland!

      Nomad rugged has pretty substantial edges, but I didn’t find it annoying! The clarity 2.0 will protect the iphone for sure, just maybe not by dropping it off a 3 story building like their limitless ones do. For normal use though, more than enough!

    I very much appreciate such a showcase of the most relevant cases, but I feel like the values in which the rankings are based on are a little separate from those shared by the general consumer. I would not value "ease of removal" above protection, and why do you consider the protective camera bump a bad thing? It was almost like a fashion show for cases instead of actually showcasing or comparing their protective capabilities, which is after all, what most people buy cases for

    • @Unfilterd
      @Unfilterd  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I get what you mean, but I did a poll and actually 60% did care alot about the ability to remove it. Of course protecting is very important too, but when you have all cases side by side, you have to differentiate. They all “sort of” protect.
