This car was a great success in the 80's in Greece. Lowest price in the market after a trabant, cheap parts, rust was not an issue in a country that earthquakes are more often than rain.
@@GeeEm1313 what are you saying are lies? My Yugo GVX is sitting in my driveway and I drive it allot around town. Even the police give me the thumbs 👍 up.
A friend of mine has a Yugo. He has had it for at least 25 years. I have a 1972 Ford Pinto I have had close to 20 years. Both cars are more reliable than just about anything made today, and they don't spy on you.
It's interesting the mention of unreliability. He hit a couple of key points when he said many owners did not maintain these vehicles regularly........DING-DING-DING!.....
I liked the Yugo. Its a tinkerers car youll always be tweaking it but i like to tinker. The one i rode back in the early 90s was trouble free except keeping the carb mixture lean.Screwdriver fix.It was simple when world cars were becoming technological nightmares.
Yugo is one of the first city crossovers. Only that it was not noticed at the time of his appearance. And anyone who has driven the Yugo off-road knows what I'm talking about and its abilities in the snow are excellent.
I liked the styling of these car [45] It's hard to see how they managed to ruin the build quality. The Fiat 127 wasn't perfect but way ahead of the Yugo!
My stupid step-dad bought a new Yugo in 1985 or so. It was a complete POS from the day it came home, and he ended up selling it for pennies on the dollar about a year later.
As one who KNOWS: The early Yugos were really atrocious on quality. Many recalls, things broke, and wore out very quickly. These cars, even regularly serviced, and meticulously maintained, just were not built for American driving. This was purely a city car made for short trips. Many had worn out engines, transmissions, and front ends, long before 40,000 miles. Everything seemed to wear out at once. LATER cars were far better on quality. But by that time, damage to the company’s reputation was already fatal. When new, it drove nicely, and it wasn’t a bad looking car. 🚗🙂
I was have 2 of yugo cars yugo 54 koral and 55 booth was end up on junkyard after couple month's of use .that was more than enough for me to i regret why i ever buy this car.The most worst car what i see and touch in my life.
With all possiblr due respect, but the Yugo was a bullshit of a car. The Zastava wizards could have rebranded the Fiat 127, which was a spaceship compared to Yugo. The Yugo exactly mirrors the substantial difference between "The East" and " The West". Namely, it is the 1960s values, design(s) and many other political and economy things and aspects that had clung as "prosperous" and useful in the socialism-infected minds. To put it shortly, had the Yugo appeared some 10 years earlier it would have been a real success. The way it turned out, the Yugo is just a proof that communist countries were able to contrapt mechanically acceptable cars but the design and final touchup had remained uninventive shitty and let alone the fact that your hands, legs, gear lever and steering wheel featured different axis without any coordination and it was dangerously irritating.
These were pure trash the day Malcolm Bricklin brought them to the U.S. The last Yugo I've ever seen was broken down with the owner on a payphone, probability calling a mechanic.
The real fall of the yugo was their dealings with fiat, what garbage, they made GM and dodge look good till dodge wound up owned by fiat that is lol. But lets face it, yugo of then is a far cry much better of a reliable product than any company produces these days, especially EVs and tesla lol, I'd pay a new car price for the yugo before I'd take a tesla for free.
Are these the cars that were purchased from I think fiat of Italy? They bought the entire manufacturing company. This car looks like the russian communist era lada.
Yugoslavia wasn't a communist country, nor any other country. Communism never came to realise anywhere please people educate yourselves. Other than that nice 👍
You have a very weak ability to intellectually observe facts. Did you perhaps hear about the affair with the Ford Pinto, which was called the crematorium... It is best for you to turn to business with chickens or piglets, provided that it is not too complicated for you, definitely, the auto industry is too complex for you... 1. The engine for Juga is an Italian product, which was made under license in Spain / Seat / and in Yugoslavia...The Italians took 1 car each from Seat and from Yugoslavia and drove them for 100,000 km, and then they opened them at the Fiat factory and it turned out that the Yugoslav one was better and of better quality... 2.It is a super-square engine by concept, which means that the stroke of the piston is smaller than the diameter of the piston, and this immediately achieves the longevity and reliability of the engine, especially since it had a camshaft in the engine head, which gives precise and fast valve guidance. . 3. Maintaining that engine is very simple and easy...Those engines are known for their longevity and economy, and the Italians redesigned that engine again with the help of computer calculations and significantly reduced fuel consumption and emissions...
Why do you show so much of Bricklyn footage when you are talking about Yugo's? I'm thinking the Yugo was the best car made in the Communist Empire! So this is the best of Socialism!
This car was a great success in the 80's in Greece.
Lowest price in the market after a trabant, cheap parts, rust was not an issue in a country that earthquakes are more often than rain.
I still have my 88 Yugo and it has never broken down and still runs good.
it's probably a collector car now.
Lies.

I was trying to enjoy this. Very interesting and you've done your research. But your background music throughout makes it unbearable. I had to stop.
Same; and a shame ☹️
Wow. I felt the same way. The background music really sucks.
Did their research, Really !!!!
One of the jokes, the four-door version of the YUGO is called a WE-GO.

I had a 1985 yugo 45, based on Fiat 127. It was great, comfortable, reliable, and economical. The engine was 903cc and 0 to 60 was under 20 seconds.
Under 20 seconds.
*blinks*
It's interesting the mention of unreliability. He hit a couple of key points when he said many owners did not maintain these vehicles regularly........DING-DING-DING!.....
Good research, but marred with numerous inconsistencies with what is shown vs what was said in the video
I remember the Yugo. It stood for "You Go And Get Yourself A New Car".
I borrowed one years ago it for three months went well cheap to run and it got me where i needed to be
I liked the Yugo. Its a tinkerers car youll always be tweaking it but i like to tinker. The one i rode back in the early 90s was trouble free except keeping the carb mixture lean.Screwdriver fix.It was simple when world cars were becoming technological nightmares.
I saw a Florida in Serbia, right outside the bombed factory downtown (who's office building was still partially in use)
What is the connection between Josip Broz Tito (Josip Tito never existed) and the Yugo car? Maybe he was a designer at the Zastava factory?
The Florida was under the Lada brand here in uk I think or Skoda
11:18 The Innocenti Mini is actually based on the BMC Mini and not the Yugo.
Great car for an adventure, mechanical and road trip.

You used the wrong flag at 1:03.
They were made in kragujevac serbia
I remember my art teacher having one here in the uk in the late 80s was £2995 brand new
Interesting music choice. Like the repeating start of a few seconds of a mystery show. Opinions anyone?
Owned a 1987 Yugo.Got 185,000 miles out of it.
that was your text?
This narrating is ideal for your videos.
your car breaks down Yugo no more
I liked the styling of these car [45] It's hard to see how they managed to ruin the build quality. The Fiat 127 wasn't perfect but way ahead of the Yugo!
The Zastava was DEFINITELY not £7,000 in the UK.
How does, $3990 = £7000 - The Dollar has always been weaker than the Sterling.
My stupid step-dad bought a new Yugo in 1985 or so. It was a complete POS from the day it came home, and he ended up selling it for pennies on the dollar about a year later.
*"YUGO"* translated to English means "You go out and Push"
underrated

2015 fiatxl was made in the same yugo factory
He said using the spare tire as an energy absorber in crashes. 😂
Pglu si ko racku.

YUGO SANA ........ I BET YOU WILL NEVER COVER THAT.
THEY HAVE BEEN GONE FOR 20 YEARS. JUST TRY TO FIND ONE.

Today, they call them “Chrysler”, “Dodge”, “Jeep” and “Sheep.” All bastard Fiat products.
