But I do remember the roadtrips, in those big boat cars. I also enjoyed my first big boat [ brand new ] 1968 Oldsmobile 98, & got 18 miles per gallon, on the highway. Thank you again & I wish you & your family, many happy times together.
Thank you for sharing this family trip. My kids are grown now but we traveled to many places in our home of Australia.
Great times so treasure every second.
Especially now that you can't even leave your home in Australia. Sounds like a tyrannical government. Here in the U.S we are headed down the same rode. At least we haven't been disarmed YET.
@@JP-dw1fp Enjoy your freedom while you have it. I'm certain your current administration is watching what's happening in Australia with glee. I'm sure they want to implement the same system in the US.
@@JP-dw1fp A lot of Australians are still Armed, it;s not as bad as what people think internatiionaly. Being “armed” ain’t going to save you against drones, jets and missles mate. Being armed is overrated Who’s killing police and politicians? exactly….NO ONE.
@@bannedlist3451 No a lot of Australian are not armed and the overwhelming majority are of the view that gun worship is just another American weird idea. No gun massacres since 1996 and never a school shooting.
Our men can be men without the need for a gun to bolster their machismo.
@@penzancepirateoam sit down and stfu boy. I’m from FNQ and men are armed and we also know how to jam teeth down throats.
I totally missed the TN relocation. Big jump for y'all from MN and the extended family.
They are going to melt down here.
@@designsinorbit He says so in this video, lol. A couple of times at least.
@@george8873 that is true … we obviously notice that. But I was not aware that relocation had been mentioned PREVIOUSLY in videos. So big surprise to me at least
👍🏻
@@clausmadsen6754 same here. I don’t remember even a skoche of a mention previously. In fact I thought they were building on some family property in Dakota somewhere. A guy needs some clarification.
those yachts are so nice, and if you ever do hit something, the hood is so long the ambulance will make it on scene before you do.
LOL!
That’s great.
Something my grandmother would’ve said.
Awesome car, awesome trip, awesome family. But how about some belts in that car for the 2000 miles journey!
Thank you for bringing us all along no fighting kids in back I'm impressed
I have 3 brothers and we never fought! LOL. Dad and Mom took us all over in a 62 rambler classic then we moved up to a 64 dodge dart wagon for more room as we got to be young teenagers. I know I'll never forget those trips. They have an edit button but we can imagine.....
Nice to have the old Caddy getting it done! Hauling the fam, and having fun in a old car is what's it is about!
Appreciate you taking us along in your life Derek. Always a good time.
Keep on cruising that caddy! Have fun!
Love your vids. You've really got it all man. Beautiful wife, beautiful children. You're doing what you want. Keep living the dream, it's great to watch.
This was so surprisingly wholesome. Like food for the soul in this world of absolute craziness.
A guy appreciates all the time and work you put into editing and uploading, I know it's not easy but you getter done and keep bringing us all this amazing content. Thank you Derek.
I must say this is one of my more favorite videos you posted I love seeing you and the family bonding enjoying the open road in a forgotten car
Being a trucker myself it's awesome to see some kids still enjoy a good Ole toot toot brings smile to my face as well
_Derek: [Touches hot thing] "Oh, that's hot, whatever this thing is."_
_Jessica: "I told you not to burn yourself."_
_Derek: [Touches hot thing again] "Ouch, that's hot, whatever this thing is."_
I'm just smirking, I've done that far too many times, myself. Twice in one making-lunch-time a guy has touched the stove element immediately followed by the pan. I'll tell ya, I ain't a specimen of manliness and ability-to-fearlessly-grab-fire, it heckin' hurt me wee piano fingers
Ha ha ho yeah, I hear ya. A lifetime of playing with these stubbly fingers has a feller convinced that next time around I'll order up the extra long size ivory ticklers. And keeping them mostly un-blistered will be job one.
@@motomuso right
My dad had a 1974 Lincoln Mark IV in the late 80s. This reminds me of the road trips we took in that thing. What a beast of a car.
The good ol antenna wire through the middle of the windshield brings back some memories of cruising down to thrifty's drug store for an ice cream cone with my grandpa. Those were the good old days where all you had to do is keep your room clean and do your homework before dinner😉👍
Excellent !!!!!!!
This is my favorite channel. I look forward to each and every episode. Seeing you with your family really warms a guys heart.
Congratulations on the move to Tenn! It's a great decision.
"Oh I forgot to put my gas cap on." Great start.
Those around the neck pillows are the single greatest invention for travel in my life time. I use the inflatable ones if I am flying. Work great.
what an awesome family. man/wife that love and respect each other, kids that are behaved and will grow up to be decent, productive adults due to good parenting.
working hard, doing what you love, inspiring others.. what a great channel.
gives a fella hope for this great country yet.
I love these videos featuring Derek’s family!! Really makes me look forward to having a family of my own one day and sharing these fun experiences with them! Great video as always, Derek!!
Start looking for a 60’s- early 70’s American cruiser now!
Welcome to Tennessee!
I just recently discovered your channel and love it! Even my wife loves watching. We’ve decided that you’re the Bob Ross of the automotive world.
Brings back memories with my late wife and my 3 boys cruising my 72 Olds 98 455
Damn Derek!! You're uploading more than a guy can watch lol. Have a fantastic trip my friend. Love that car and if you sell it on evil bay it's going to be a bidding frenzy
I took my driver's test in a 1969 Fleetwood . In 1972!
Great video. The road trip reminds me of all the family trips I took in the 70’s and 80’s in the family truckster, a 74 kingswood wagon. Nothing better than highway cruising in a big body gm.
Same here with the travelling, only we did it in a '71 Chevy Impala. That in the windshield antenna just brings back all those great memories.
That's my childhood too, mom and 4 kids barreling down the hwy air going full tilt in our full size Buick. Miss those days
What a great video. You can't beat a good old family road trip in some classic American iron. Safe travels!
Living the American dream, perfect! Driving across the country in a big block 60's or 70's American car cannot get any better!
So, how long, I wonder, will it take for the MN "O's" to take on a TN "twang?" The dialectic mix could get interesting.
A feller was wondering that himself...🤣
It's gonna be funny when he says fuel make it happener to a southerner..
But then again, some o these here southern boys have their own dialectic themselves..👌
Won't happen. Have a friend that moved from NoDak to SE KS. She's been here 8 years and fakes her Kansas accent to keep from awkward conversations with strangers lol
his is not that far off honestly. few things are different but if i never knew he was from mn id would have thought he was from neck of the woods.
@@SethRileyOkieFromNotMuskogee "Kansas accent" never heard anyone use those two words together before.
I have some friends from MN that moved here to IN 35 years ago. The MN "O's" never go away.
Such a nice trip to see, the Cadillac turned out great, it is such a awesome car, a true definition of America's greatest cars.
Welcome to Tennessee!! So glad you are moving here. Uncle Tony’s Garage is here as is Scotty! Moved to Nashville from Michigan s decade ago, love it here!! Open House fer some fellers and gals!!!
Bus Grease Monkey is in Tennessee now too.
Your Guitar Sage too
as is Goonzquad and Whistlindiesal
I love the fact that you'se are using these cars to make family movies and graet memories with your Family. All the best to you and your Family from Dindee Scotland.👍👍✌👊👊
Looking forward to seeing a guy and his family having a good ol' time over the next few days. Good stuff.
Thank you for doing this series! Love the family aspect of it man can't wait for tomorrows video!
I love seeing y'all as together as a family and having a great time with the trip. I hope that I can do that soon with my family because I haven't seen them in over 2 years due to covid and that I'm in a different country and is very expensive for them to come over. I love this channel.
Hope you get to see your fam soon
Thank you.
Power Tour gives a throwback to the good old days of family car trips.
The good news is that with a move to Tennessee, Derek will not be paying any income tax to the state.
15:05 A shout out to all the cool truckers out there that amused me as a little kid, by honking their airhorns when I asked them to do so during family road trips. :-)
Thanks for sharing your adventures and your family with us Derek and Jessica. You guys are real entertainers. Much love from Australia guys!😉🇦🇺
Hats off to you my man, including your wife and kids and allowing them to experience the things you love doing! Just not enough of that going on today! Keep up the content!
Watching the family leaving with the 3 boys in the back of the old Caddy, kinda makes an old feller teary-eyed, as that was me in the back with my two brothers, taking rides in my dad's Aqua/blue 1970 Cadillac Sedan De Ville back in, hmm...1970.
I can’t explain how pumped I am to see so many new videos! Thank you and your family for your hard work and keep em coming!!
Completely forgot about antennas in the windshield until the first window shot. Safe travels. My dad had a 71 Cadillac Calais, took a few road trips in that, great car.
Windshield antenna was what caught my eye right off. Oh the memories.
Being an Australian bloke…guy…we don’t see fantastic old US vehicles like these on our roads. I have to say though I am in love with that car. The interior and those leather seats even in white are spectacular. I’m a massive fan. I watch a VGG every day, I often have them playing in the background just for the hell of it because I love his wit, mechanical aptitude and never say die attitude. Nothing seems too difficult. Derek is an amazing role model for his kids and I think for all of us in respect to just getting the job done. Keep it up Derek and fam. I will keep tuning in
Thank you for taking the Caddy, that made it a guarantee that I will watch every Vid on this trip.!!
Living the dream! Huge US road trip in a land yacht. Really enjoyed the video. Taking your family on such a trip can be quite daunting I imagine in an untested car. And you took time to record it all too. Hats off to you sir!
love how you split this project up into multi uploads. worked out great for me more content over time :)
The car, the family, and the trip are a true piece of Americana that we should all appreciate! Thank you Derek for sharing!
