    And once more into the fray with (just released) 1.9 software? :D
    About the update:
    -Range improvements in certain driving conditions.
    -Improved traction in slippery conditions.
    -Improved driver display messages about charging, battery status and available power.
    -Range estimate in the driver display and in-vehicle apps Range Assistant and Google Maps now considers the effect of low temperatures on available range when the vehicle has been left unplugged."

    Thanks for your tests on this car. My wife is interested in getting one and it's nice to see information from independent sources. The smallish range of this car is not an issue for us as she would use it for a daily commute of 28 miles (45 km) round trip. Also, we live in Austin TX, USA and the weather conditions you have in Norway are, um shall we say, non-existent here. However, in summer we do have daily high temperatures over 100º (38º C) so it would be interesting to see how high temps might affect range. Hard for you to do in Norway I guess.

    These are interesting results. I got nearly the same rate of consumption at -3c driving in snow and on wet roads while climbing around 3,000m in my Polestar 2 LR DM. When it's somewhat flatter and dryer during the winter, I'm getting closer to 22 kwhr/100km on longer trips. By comparison, the drag coefficient on the Polestar 2 is .278 compared to the .329 on the Volvo C40.

      quite normal for this temperature! Electric cars suck when it's cold. The range can be up to 100% longer with warmer temps (depends on AC use, road conditions, etc.)

    • @henrikhansen1507
      @henrikhansen1507 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@vascoduarte4519 the Norwegian car owner club have just made such a test and Kris result does not give the same result- it did much better. and they came op with numbers in the range 11-25%- which means that your number- 100% longer in cold- which are 50% shorter, seen as the range are normally calculated are 100% off, if you do know math ;-Dtal
      The same mechanics that causes range loss for EV are still there for ICEV. You just don't talk about them. When the road is wet the fuel consumption goes up. When it's cold the consumption goes up, when you got head winds.... The only differences are that EV have to use extra energy from the battery to heat the cabin and battery where the ICEV just uses the waste heat ( there are plenty, because they only get 20-35% into mechanical energy) and that you just don't talk about the range loss for ICEV as a result of driving conditions.

      @vascoduarte4519 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@henrikhansen1507 I have a very extensive data collection from 2 cars. Comparing diesel (A6 3ltr TDI) and electric.
      1. Diesel is about 20% less efficient in winter vs summer.
      2. Electric (P2) is 100% less efficient (from 19kWh/100km to nearly 40 32-35)
      3. Charging an EV "warm" and then leaving it over night in -15c (3-4 weeks in the North) will lead to an effective loss of energy available (unlike Diesel).
      Electric cars are heavily affected by cold. Regarding road conditions, the impact is not that large and potentially the same in both ICE and EV.
