CHI probably has the most expensive bottom 6 in the NHL to go with the least expensive top 6 in the NHL. Great priorities for spending.

@@tomslick2058 that would be a great draft for Sharks… good 4 them… if we had 11, we could likely get one of the 6-7 D prospects sitting in the same tier… in sick 2 my stomach that we are likely taking Levshunov, I literally can’t breathe… nhl scouts (not da talking head analysts) but actual nhl scouts, none of em have Lev ranked in top 5 of their prospects or da best D prospect per Tribune active

To get 2 serviceable players plus a 2nd for only a 4th rounder, that’s a win.
This trade in no way should affect the offseason fa signings because these guys are basically 3rd and 4th line fillers, definitely an upgrade over the stiffs that were there the last few seasons.
Who knows, could use Mikheyev on our second line at times. Either way he’s a top 9 guy and that’s a win
Agree. This deal should not influence what KD does regarding UFAs. Frankly, I would be willing to aggressively target Jake Guentzel with a long-term contract offer. If he proves to be a winger that can form some semblance of a top line with Connor Bedard for five years, anything he gives us in the last 2-3 years of the contract becomes gravy. Cannot leave Bedard hung out to dry for another season.
That's the law of the land. Those that have cap space take. Those that don't have cap space get taken. During the Cup years the Blackhawks had no cap space and slowly had to disassemble their team. Seeing players like Teuvo Teravainen, Niklas Hjalmarsson, and Brandon Saad get traded was sad.

Hawks did not fleece the Canucks! Mikheyev was way overpaid for his low production level. Hopefully for him & the Blackhawks he does better in Chicago. Lafferty is a good catch. But the Canucks have much bigger plans.
