And 1:10 into the 1st pre-season game...Jones the goat and -1that early in...with no compensatory offense to make up for his bone head errors.. Nah..Jones doez not have the focus or the hockey brain to be "consistent" and effective. Vkasic performed a miracle last season getting Jones to just -15 from h is -39/-38 levels of thec2 prior seasons ... Tge guy dies nit have the mind or concentration to be a reliable 1D and certainly not a $9.5 ..Too often plays like 95cents!

It stinks being a Blackhawk fan in Canada, missing these first few Preseason games. I'm Canadian. I need hockey like I need air, and I need to watch my team, even if it is only the preseason!

The Blackhawk to keep an eye on is Frank Nazar playing in his home town. I'm sure he will have a lot of Family and friends in the stands watching. The kid should be bringing his A game tonight

Was fun to see some Hawks hockey again, first preseason game enough said. Spellecy is going to be fun to watch his progression the next few years. No injuries is a plus!

Bedard's turn over on the power play that led to a Detroit break away chance was glaring since we saw that happen too many times last season. Yes, I know he's only 19. But he keeps making the same mistake. Not good.

We saw the best and worst from Korchinski. Had a nice feed to Bedard that led to a scoring chance. Then in the same shift he got muscled off the puck. It didn't lead to a scoring chance so theres that...still pulling for him.

Are we just blocking out Bedard turnovers and Mrazek bailing him out on that takeaway? He needs to settle down, stop running into three defenseman too

Some great magic between 86 and 98 last night. That Teuvo goal was awesome. His poise and intelligence are apparent. Spellacy looked pretty solid and restrained despite his obvious physical prowess - got some time on the PK - positionally sound and has some wheels - could be a beast in a few years. Donato looked inspired and played well. On the downside - Lardis was invisible.

The Blackhawks are nowhere near being a contending team. There are probable 3-4 players on this team that will still be on the team when they are cup contenders. This is a 70ish point team.

The obvious choice. I think this makes it clear that Captain Serious has decided to hang up his skates. Bedard is a modest kid that would rather lead by example than be a vociferous take charge guy. I dont agree with guving a guy the "C" just because he's your best player, most would day (arguable) that Kane was in some way the better, more visible player than Toews, but was nor even an alternate till later in his career.

I’m pleased with the Foligno choice. He is the leader right now. There will probably be a time for Bedard to wear the “C”, but it’s OK for that to wait. Heck, Bedard might wear the “A” like Kaner did. I wonder how Seth Jones feels? He stated he wanted the job.

As far as camp goes, I’m less interested in players who are locks to be playing in Chicago, and more interested in players who are trying to make the team. Korchinski and Kaiser for example. Are they going to be in Chicago or Rockford?

Wanna see if Nazar makes the roster on opening night. And I bet Seth Jones and his defense tears it up with a NHL team in front of him

QUESTION OF THE DAY -- Which Player Are YOU Most Excited To Keep An Eye On During Blackhawks Training Camp?

7, 6, 5... who can fill some of the 7 Hawk's spots that will make up the core going forward, who do we know will make up the next 6 second tier players and who may stick around as the support 5. That is 18 players, 12 forwards and 6 D. How many of these "blanks" can we fill in at this point. This is a projection of the talent in the organization now. Some spots at this point may need to be filled by hired guns at a later time. But I watch the team mature with anticipation of identifying these pieces of the next Hawks stanley cup squad. Nazar makes the team. Reichel to Rockford.

Fun fact, "Barney Gumble" is a character on "The Simpsons" That said, let's move on from Demidov, the Hawks don't win those cups with just Kane, they needed Keith as well. They seem to have several excellent prospects at center/forward including your (and mine) favorite Nazar.

Can't teach the speed. Spellacy, Ludwinski (was noticeable to me last year too) Lardis, you can just tell he has a little better release than the other guys on the ice) Slaggert and Nazar the two best on the ice, most NHL ready looking at least. Nazar does end up on the ice a lot though. I know not much talk about Slaggert but I thought he was very dependable last year. Never going to be the best at anything but a good 3rd/4th line guy with decent wheels and not stone hands. Another note Misiak is pretty big like 6'2ish around 200, maybe a little lighter. Wish he had a little mean streak to him, could be a really great player down the line. Del Mastro looked the best on D to me but its hard to really say. They're all still super young for the most part and the future looks bright.

Went to the game Saturday night against the Wild. Nazar definitely stuck out

He won't make the team out of camp, but his future is bright. Ludwinski looked really good as well. EDM and Allan looked much better in game 2.
