I have been using this method to save photos and videos for almost 2 years now and have saved more than 20 terabytes in original sizes, I hope that Google will not block this feature.
Then that's a great bug at google, these photos belong to nobody since they are shared by account 2, and deleted by account 2, but someone on internet like account 1 still has access that means google doesnt really delete them 😮
What if i upload let's say 1 GB of photos on my Account 1 and share them (partner sharing) with Account 2 and save them in Account 2 (as mentioned in this video) then I delete them from Account 1, will I still be able to access those photos from Account 2? How long they'll available to me? Is there any chances google will delete those photos as they were deleted from Account 1 but still accessible by Account 2?
To whoever finds this comment, it actually works. You can delete all photos from the original account and get more storage there, don’t worry, they won’t be deleted in the shared photos. Thanks Neil.
I have been sharing for over three years, but because the photos are for my child to be able to have when he grows, without having to access my lifetime gmail account, Im still afraid of erasing and be surprised that gmail changes policy, and then my child doesnt have lifetime memories... Im paying storage because I have not deleted the photos...and Im thinking an external drive is going to be my best second option to gurantee the preservation of a lifetime memory for my child. Still dont trust google fully to this task :(
You're amazing!! I was so upset at Google for dropping the free unlimited photo and video storage on their new pixel devices. I was totally at a loss on what to do for photo storage. Now, as long as this exists, I'll be good to go! No more pixels for me! Any other phone will do just fine :) You're a genius. Thank you.
UR A GENIUS!!!!!!!!! Seriously I have been trying to figure out a way to free up my google photos without deleting them for years Idk why I never thought of this....But I am sooooooo glad I came across this video! Thank u thank u thank soo much for making this!!🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩 😍🙇🏼♀️❤️
Thanks for the kind message Donna. Hope this helps and fingers crossed it works for you. Don't forget to activate the AUTO SAVE option after the partner link is made, so that photos are saved in the shared account even if you delete them from the first account. They take up no storage quota and appear as original quality! Good luck with your Google Photos storage and thanks again!
Can I just say how happy I am that I came across your video!!! I’m completely out of space, even with the extra storage I bought for saving all the memories of my kids as they grow up, to have this ability to still save them and be able to access them is absolutely incredible! Thank you so much!!
Hi, I followed one of your vids and I've gone from 13gb used to now 7gb and of course I have 15gb on my new photo Google account and have all my photos on there as well, crazy. Thank you so much.
Hi Thanks for the kind comment - hope something here helps. I deleted off the photos from my phone before the new account so that it wouldn't fill the new account. You probably dont need to see another video, but I go through the process step by step here: th-cam.com/video/5G_N4AnLMiM/w-d-xo.html Thanks again and good luck with your Google photos storage!
I did what you said and it came through but I have a question. Sir if I delete pictures from my main account it also delete from this new account ??.my aim was to move pictures to this new account and keep the valuable ones to in my main account sir. So did I do any wrong. Cause my account space has free very well in my main account. So sir please clarify it for me I want to know. Thanks so much
I'm confused 🤔 I did everything that you said (I think): Set up a second account, shared all of the photos in my original account with my new account, shared all of the photos in my new account with my original account, and set both accounts on automatic backup. The photos show up in both accounts as I would expect them to. However, I started out with 13GB of photos and still have 13GB of photos. How should I correct this, please? Also, is backing up a photo the same as saving a photo? Finally, I understand that shared photos don't count against my storage limit, but what happens if one of the sharing parties deletes some photos? Will the photos that were deleted by A start using up storage space in B's Google account since those photos are no longer being shared? BTW, you are a godsend for those of us who are technologically impaired. Thank you!
Hey Neil, Thanks for all the Great Advice! And After watching a second video of yours, I definitely Subscribed. its nice to watch someone who is super Pleasent.👍😉🇨🇦
Very educative, thanks. I have a question; after connecting Account 2 (new) to my google photo app on my phone and switching back up on, it started backing up my old pictures on my phone which is already backed up in my account 1 (old ). How can I set back up date to start from the day I link account 2 (new) to my google app on my phone ? Or how can I stop account 2 (new) from backing up my old photos on my phone gallery ?
Yup, I ran into the same issue and queried BARD/Gemini about that issue. without using a third party app, it's not possible. Google automatically will backup everything on your phone it can find. so unless you move ALL of your old photos to another directory and mark it for DO NOT BACKUP, it will back them up.
Yes I agree this method doesn't work if you don't delete from your phone the photos taken on your first account. If you don't delete the old photos from your phone, then the 2nd account will get full too as it'll be backing up the old photos. i don't understand why so many people are saying this method works. Or have I missed something?
@@ahsiong88 thanks for the heads up, assuming that your comment is correct. I am struggling to find a cheap way to keep all my photos in original quality in my phone (plenty of space as it has 512Gb) and have a backup in space saver mode in a google photos account. My main email account is reaching its limit because of too many photos but I do *not* want to delete the original photos from the phone! Your comment saved me a lot of time because as good as the video is, it does not provide what I need.
Thank you for providing a detailed video; it has been incredibly helpful. I followed the steps accordingly and I'm pleased to report that it worked for me. However, I did encounter one issue: when I delete a photo from the original location, it also gets deleted from the partner account. Is there a step that I might have overlooked?
Hi Marwan Thanks for the kind comment and really pleased you've managed to set up Partner Sharing! There's only one step now and that is to switch on AUTO SAVE On a desktop or laptop, go to google.photos.com and click on the sharing tab on the left hand side There should be a really big button offering to auto save If not, click on the cog at the top of the screen Click on partner sharing then click save to your account On a phone, click on the partner sharing tab the option to auto save should be there, if not, go into settings as above Hope this helps, let me know if it doesn't work Good luck with your Google Photos!
Hi Neil, I guess this is FREE storage only if u dont delete the photos from original account. Once you delete photos on original account, They count as storage on the new account?? Isnt it so?
Hi @aditya234567 Thanks for the kind question: With partner sharing, if you turn on auto save, the photos shared from the 'photos' account to the 'original' account do not count as storage on the shared account. Plus they are shared at original quality, even if storage saver is turned on! They do count as storage on the 'photos' account, but if auto save is switched on, when you delete them from the 'photos' account they remain in the shared account, so the photos account can always be kept under 15GB. Hope this helps
Hi Neil, Just wanted to say thank you because your other tips have helped so much already. I am just a bit confused about this system because I can't seem to get google to only back up new photos I take? I have four google accounts on my phone and it shows all the photos from each on each other (but only backs it up to one). If i switch my backup account it just fills the new account will all the same photos from the other account and when I delete them it deletes both of them. What do I do?
Hi thanks for the kind message Elisa - it's so frustrating. I declared a year zero with my phone and backed it up to a hard drive to be totally safe, and then started the new account with new photos only. I deleted the old pictures from my phone - knowing they're safe on a hard drive and in my original Google Account. (This also stopped my phone filling up to maximum) It meant the 'new' photos account only had 'new' photos, and I partner share it with my very old personal account that I use daily so that everything is in one place. It's not ideal but it stops my phone from maxing out any new Google account. Thanks for letting me know I didn't share this as best as I can in the video. Hope something here helps and good luck with your storage. Thanks again
Ok so im thinking that apon sync with new photos to new account he then dumps phots from phone to hard drive the sheres that account to his old daily account to have access from one account to 2 accounts worth which is only 30G. But this can be done from many accounts to one daily account that youd have to turn sync off in order to not allow your daily to upload your photos. Only have one new account sync photos. Whenever one accout sync is full 15G all photos would have to be moved from phone to hard drive to then open another accout that you would share to your daily. Phew. I get it now. Its a lot but sounds like it should work. If you dont need the original photos on your phone that is. The clean sweep and new account would have to be done every 15G which isnt much now days. Managing so many accounts wouldnt be too hard since you would only access those accounts through the partner sharing once the 15G is full. I swear this almost has to be a class for most to understang fully. Why is it that google photos is the only place we trust to save photos? Is there trustable options elsewhere that wont reduce the size or delete photos? In my experience Google photos has deleted many of my oldest photos without my permission. But also Google photos is the only place my old photos exsist anymore. All other have been lost. (In my experience)
you are actually smart thank you very much! now can you please answer me this?? 1. I connected my original account with the 2nd account. 2. Now second has all the original pictures. 3. Now i can delete all the images in my original account? and then continue taking photos which will be automatically backed up to my 2nd account and i can again repeat step 3 (delete photos to reset 15gb storage) ???
Hi thanks for the kind comment Yes- but... I personally do it the other way round. I use the 2nd new account for photos which are shared to my original account, so I have everything there which is searchable, and I delete off the larger ones from the 2nd new account. They then remain in my original account taking up no storage allowance. Obviously, whichever way you do this, make sure auto save is enabled and do a test to make sure you're not losing anything you want to lose. I backup all my pictures from my phone to hard drive anyway. Good luck and thanks again.
@@neilmossey thank you for replying! Yeah I just did a backup of my phone into my hard drive anyways lol. I don't primarily use GP for storage.. I like Google photos because it gives me those satisfying 'one year ago today' '5 years ago today' notifications and other features like face recognitions and stuff lol. So I would exploit this storage trick for these features!! Thank you again!
Hey Neil This is a great video big pro tip detail…if your pics are not backed up it won’t work because your storage is full. So with the new account your sharing with you must perform the back up before you start deleting pics?????
Yes!!! I delete them all in my first email account and they stay in my second email account it's true it's great this guy is amazing and explains it so good!!!👍
Thank you so much sir.. It helped me a lot... Even though i was a little too late... I deleted most of my videos.. 145 videos to be exact... Sad but i will still make a lot of it.... Thank you thank you so much! New hubby here!❤
But won't the new account will start backing all the photos that you have in your phone again? Let's say I have photos from 2017 to 2023 in my phone and which are also backed up in my original account "2017", then if I make another account "2023", it will again backup all the photos from 2017 to 2023 in 2023 account, so on and so forth. Is there any way out without deleting the photos from phone or moving them to a separate folder?
@@saarahsshop2808 Hmmmm.... Still working for me. Been doing this since they eliminated unlimited storage in 2021. I thought I'd just get an extra 15GB in a second account, but that 2nd account still remains with nearly all of the 15GB available!
I'm a little confused. You are doing this sharing across multiple google accounts from one single Android device. Meaning that when setting up backing up to cloud storage, from account 1 and account 2 on the same physical Android device you will end up duplicating the backup of your photos from one device to account 1 and account 2. Did I miss anything? Unless you follow a strict approach to draw a line between the backup to account 1 and account 2. Meaning, when account 1 is full, you must delete all the backed up photos from your device and switch over to account 2. Is that correct?
Hiii just a question, once all the photos has been shared to the other account, can we delete them from the original account ?? Or will it get deleted from my device too ??
Hi Neil, Thank you very much for the interesting video of yours. Can you help me out please? I've done all your steps several times but on on seconde account, the storage space shows almost the same as the first (original) account. Is there something which needs to be disabled/enable??? Thanks for your helps.
Hi Neil....in the partner sharing, if I add my desktop computer email account as the partner I am sharing with, does that mean my photos are going to go to my desktop email, or will it be another folder on my phone? I don't want them all to go to my desk top computer
hi neil ...as you mentioned, if we delete photos from account 1 after sharing to account 2 it wont get deleted from account 2. but in my case its been sync and the photos and videos are also getting deleted from account 2...pls suggest.
Neil, I have watched all your videos on getting free Google Photos storage by sharing on additional Google accounts. I am still not clear on certain parts. Here is what I have done. Google 1 has 10 gb of Google Photos. Google 2 is a new account just created. So I shared all photos of Google 1 with Google 2. Google 2 accepted the invite and save all photos. Then I turn off the share and both 1 & 2 have the same photos. Google 2 shows storage of zero. Now I have seen some comments (not necessary from your video), saying if the photos on google 1 are deleted, the photos on Google 2 also disappear. That seemed to make more sense to me since Google 2 is on its own and how can it have photos that take no storage space? What am I missing?
Hi thanks for the kind question and making it super clear. When I delete photos from Google 1, they remain on Google 2 for me. I'm astounded, but they are still there. When you click on the 'i' icon for more info it confirms the photo in Google 2 is original quality and takes up no storage space. The best way to test it is naturally take a test photo you don't mind using, let it sync then delete it in Google 1. What might be happening with the people commenting this does not work for them is to double check which account your phone is syncing with. I have turned off backup and sync in my phone app for Google 1 and leave it logged into Google 2. If I do change that login on the phone app to Google 1 for any reason, it won't start syncing my phone with that account because I have backup turned off within the app. Hope this makes sense and good luck with your trial. I can only say it's still working for me like a dream.
@@neilmossey It doesn't work for me idk why When i delete the photo from the copy one it will deleted also in my original one ! Thanks for helping Big brother. ❤
@@AS.MA_ So sorry to hear this - checked it again and my deletions from the 'photos' account - which is on active backup from my phone - still remain in the account they are shared to. And I make sure that account has backup switched off on my phone, but the phone is set to sync with the 'photos' account. Hope you can get this to work somehow because it sounds quite frustrating for you that it isn't! Hope also that 'auto save' is turned on, on both accounts, for safety. wondering if it's syncing back to the 2nd account which is deleting it? Maybe if nothing else works, turning off Partner share from the shared account to the photos account, so that the share is only in one direction from the photos account to the shared account? Either way, good luck with your storage and thanks again for your kind message.
Hi Courtney -- thanks for this message too -- I don't know why not all of the photos would be shared. I'm sure you've waited, but sometimes it takes a while for all of them to be shared...
Thanks for the kind question. We can only backup to one account at a time, so if it helps, what I do is after setting up the partner sharing... I backed up all my pictures to a hard drive/external drive/memory card for safety. Make sure the Google Photos app is set to my 'photos' account, and turn on backup to there in Settings. Hope this helps!
Hi Neil, this is fantastic, great set of videos. My only question is, can you photo share with more than 1 account. I can't see an option to add a 3rd account.
Hi thanks for the kind comment - since the video, you can only partner share with one account... but if you use auto save you can "share' once with an account long enough for it to save everything and then share with another account and the pictures from that first share still remain! Hope this helps and good luck with your storage
Hey Niel, I love the content. I have a question. How can I stop Google Photos from automatically grabbing every pic/video that I take ? I'm using a samsung Galaxy s20 ultra 5g, and every time I take a picture, Google Photos gets it. I would like to be able to select what goes into it myself and not have everything just automatically go into it
I’m kinda confused, I’ve created both Google accounts and I shared both accounts. Do I have to upload photos to one account and wait until it also saves to the shared account? If so do I have to delete the already backed up photos from the first account to continue to backup new photos?
Hi thanks for asking. I've tested this many times and continue to test it on my own accounts. If you delete from the original account and auto save is switched on, they stay in the shared account even after deleting! You could try testing this yourself with a test photo.. Thanks again!
wHi, just one quick question, when I create the new photos account should I activate the backup there, since I don’t have any space left in my old account?
Thanks for the kind question - yes, that's how I do it - I make sure my photos upload to the new account. I also backup the photos on my phone to a hard drive/memory stick for safety and delete them on my phone so I'm not backing up exactly the same files that caused the space to be used up in the first place, but your mileage may vary. Good luck with your storage and thanks again
Once I share the two accounts, can I delete all the photos from the original account because they will now be saved on the new account taking up no storage? hope im understanding this right, thanks neil!
Hi @feltjoker7543 - thanks for the kind question. Yes that's correct BUT make sure you have activated 'auto save' in both accounts as shown in the video. Also, delete one photo you don't care about first as a test - I am still doing this and it still works, so really hope this works for you Thanks again
One problem... Once your second Google photos account fills up, and you need to create, say a third Google account for another 15Gb, will you then need to stop sharing with account#2 which means that all those photos will disappear/be deleted from the main(1st) Google account. Am I correct??? My understanding is that you can only share with one partner at a time.
this doesnt work anymore. Ive set up and alt-account and linked them. Then I auto-saved from both accounts. Ive deleted one picture from the main account and see if it would still be visible on the alt-account. Unfortunately it is not visisble.
OMG Why am i seeing this just now... How about, if my first account is already full, cause before i bought storage of 200gb for a yr then it got expired. So now it shows on my accoun, lets say it says 195gb out of 15gb full. So as we can see we can't back up the newest photos after expiring. Does it back up this way too? Or does it only back up the newest photos after doing this partner sharing?
Thanks for the kind comment, and sorry to hear this @teaaftersex Can I check you haven't missed a step? The reason if you delete from the 1st account and they are deleted from the second account is usually because 'auto save' is not turned on. It's covered at 4:16 in the video. Is auto save switched on and the photos in one account are being deleted in the second account? Because it's working fine for me with my partner sharing - I would be very interested if the 2nd account is deleting with 'auto save' turned on. I've even removed the partner share pairing and the photos remain. Hope this helps!
Hey Neil, thanks for the video! So amazing! 💯👏🤜 Just wondering does that only work with a Gmail ? I'm sure if it's Google photos you would have to make a Gmail . I'm sure we could share it . I share stuff to my Yahoo mail all the time. A lot of photos. But to save all photos wouldn't you have to have a Gmail?
Hi Neil . I am stuck in a problem and I want your help, I did all that you said , made another gmail acc and shared the photos to that account and deleted from the original full storage acc but I have them in my second new acc , my question is about turning on the backup , on which acc should I turn on the back up ? I would be glad if you would answer my question . MAY GOD BLESS YOU
Thanks for the kind question - if it were me, I'd back up to the new account and make that my photos account. I would partner share that account to my original account so all the photos can be seen from there without taking up space. It would also also - if I'm feeling brave and after a test - allow me to delete photos from the new account to keep that under the limit, while the shared photos are still safely shared to my original account. Hope this makes sense - good luck with your storage!
@@neilmossey thanks neil for the reply I have another query if you could reply once again . If i backup that on my new acc my storage would be filled again and there would be no way i would be left with no storage on any account 🥲 . After I share the two accounts and basically sync them together, are you saying it’s safe for me to delete them from my original Google photos account?
Hi Kristen, - thanks for the kind comment and question: Yes, it's safe BUT this is what I do: - make sure that Auto Save is turned on. It's easy to take a test photo, let it be synced/shared and then delete it to confirm it doesn't disappear in the shared-to account. - Back up your phone to a storage card, computer, memory stick or hard drive (or all of them!) periodically for safety I've even partner shared, with other accounts then removed that account (you can only partner share one at a time) and the photos remain in my shared-to account to this day. Hope this helps and good luck with your Google Photos.
A couple questions... I keep the original photo on my phone still. After deleting the photos from the account will google photos re sync them again when synching the new photos? I assume yes. Over the years google photos has deleted many of my oldest photos from my accout without my permission. So i do not delete originals anymore. Although the only old photos i have left are the ones on google photos from loosing/breaking phones or laptops so niether is reliable. My issues right now is too many duplicates taking up space across 3 accounts from sync same photos. Also, doesnt sharing the photo then deleting the original photo make the shared photo not able to reload since its been deleted??
Hi thanks for the great questions - I find this confusing, so it's helpful to be asked these! When I've deleted from the photos app, and the photo is still on the phone, I'm finding that it doesn't re-sync or re-back it up, bizarrely. I dont know how it knows And About every 6 months I back up to hard drive and delete things from my phone to stop the phone filling up. It's true that neither is reliable! The good news is that sharing the photo then deleting it from the 'photos' account does not delete it from the shared account. Also, even better, even though the photos account is saver quality, the copy in the shared account is Original quality(!) - (Click on the "i" on the photo in the shared account - it gives the details). I regularly do test deletions to make sure it still works and for safety - and it still works. I've even un-paired the shared accounts to test if that removes the shared photos, and it does not. Hope this helps and thanks again.
Thanks for the message and forgive me I'm not sure I understand the problem. When you delete photos from your original google photos account, did you want the photos to also be deleted from the other account? Hope I can help.
@@neilmossey No, So basically partner sharing is turned on on both the accounts okay. But when I delete a photo from my original photos account, it automatically gets deleted from the new account also. You said if you delete a photo from account 1, it will stay in account 2, that's not the case here!!
@@AshishSalunke1 Thanks Ashish and sorry to hear this - that's frustrating. Can I ask, how are you deleting the photo, are you deleting it on your phone, and which account is your phone logged into? (You can only backup and sync the phone to one account at a time)
The problem I ran into was with the phone number used to verify the account when creating a new account. It seems a phone number can only be used 5 time (I only have 1 Google account) but somehow I have reached that maximum. Maybe if the same phone number is using in other accounts (non Google)? Its something to be aware of.
Can you deleted shared photos in account 1 and still have them in account 2? That's the whole for me. I would like to leave my account 1 free from all photos.
Hiya Neil, great content! I have a question: My photos are backing up to account 2 however I can see that storage is being taken up and I have almost 95gb of photos in my original account. (I pay for the 100gb storage plan). I'm worried that my photos will stop sharing to the 2nd account once 15gb has been reached. I understood that no storage amount would be taken up in the second account, however I can see that 7gb of 15gb has already been used in the 2nd account. What would you suggest I do in this case? Looking forward to your reply and thanks for providing such useful and valuable information.
Hi, sorry it's taken so long to reply. Hope I am understanding your question properly. For me, the 2nd (new) account is filling up, and will eventually hit 15GB so I am going to have to delete videos from 2nd (new) account, hoping that they will remain saved in account 1 (my old, original account). Hope this helps.
@@neilmosseydoes that work? Since your account 1 gets in real a shortcut of photos shared from account 2, if you delete them from account 2, the shortcuts point to nothing then how could you consume the photos again?
@@maximebai5609same doubt, as the photos was deleted by account 1 and was shared to account 2 (partner sharing) so how can we access them in account 2 without evenusing the storage of account 2?

Interesting , so if you delete them from the photo account they are still on share account ? So how is the photo account sharing photos it deleted? Sounds like google doesn’t ( currently) care?
Hi Neil just when i wanted the answer for my google storage problem, i came across this video n Iam glad i watched it. Nicely explained everything. But i have 1 qusestion. I want the google account only for the photos. Plz help in this matter.
Hi thanks for the kind question. If you set up an account for Google Photos, you only have to set your Google Photos app on your phone to back up to the new account, not the mails or anything else. Then Partner sharing bounces them to the original account, so everything is there. I deleted everything on my phone first so that the new account isn't swamped by all the photos that maxed out my original account. And I made sure auto save is switched on. Hope this helps and good luck with your Google Photos...
Thanks for this info,i tried this on my own before seeing ur vdo,but wasn't sure. I think we should create a new google account for this to work, rt ??
Hi Aruna, yes that's right - create a new google account first. Forgive me, this is covered here on my other video, in case this helps: th-cam.com/video/P61Su8sa_2c/w-d-xo.html Good luck and thank you again for taking the time to leave a kind comment
Really sorry to hear this. Can I ask if 'auto save' is switched on? The auto save setting should appear in the 'sharing' tab on desktop or in the app: Photos settings - sharing - partner sharing Hope this helps
Hi thanks for the kind question. If you share with the account where you want to see everything, and have auto save turned on... when you delete from the new 'photos' account, they remain in the account where you want to see everything. That way you can always free up space in the 'photos' account. Hope this helps and good luck with your Google Storage!
You have been so helpful but every time I delete a photo from the original account it’s getting deleted from the second account too? Is there another step at the end I’m missing?
Hi Jill Thanks for the kind message - can I double check if you've gone through the "Auto save" section of the process: in the video it's at 4:15 This is how I do it: I called Account 1 my old account - the one which is nearly full. I do not keep Google Photos on my phone logged into this account, I have turned off 'backup and sync' in this account. Account 2 is my new account. I've called it my 'photos' account. The Google Photos app is logged into this account (all other Google apps on my phone are on account 1) I have backup and sync turned on in the Google Photos app. Here's what might have happened: Have you activated "Auto Save" on Account 1? (I've activated it for account 2 too but account 1 is crucial) This step is shown at 4:15 in the video. I've also partnered and accepted Partner Sharing in the other direction as well. So going into partner sharing on Account 2 and sharing with account 1. I'm not sure if that would help. I just did this because I can. Hope something here helps and thanks again for letting me know, really hope this can work for you!
@@neilmossey so if I go into the original account and click on partner sharing and then view all it says “saving automatically “ but I just did a test and deleted a picture out of the original and it was deleted in the back up
Also if I go to delete the picture it says this photo will be deleted from iCloud photos on all your devices. How do I not attach my iCloud to my google?
@@hawaiicampers1maybe you're confused a little bit, let me try to clear it. Let's say you've 2 google accounts, one is your main account (Original Account) and you don't want to use storage of this account, another one is your new account (which you created to store unlimited photos). Now in your google photos app first log in to new account and turn on backup and sync, now all of your photos & media will be backup up on your new account. Just setup partner sharing in new account to main account so that every single photo you'll backup in new account will be visible to original account, this is how it works. And the thing you're talking about iCloud is that when you try to delete that photos from photos app (Apple's official) then it shows you that this photo will also be deleted from iCloud, let me tell you why this is happening. You've enable iCloud Photos that's why your photos are being backed up to iCloud Photos so whenever you try to delete a photo from your device it shows you that your photo will also be deleted from iCloud photos as well as from your photos app. To solve this issues all you need to do is just to turn off iCloud photos feature. Hope you understand.
Thanks a lot! However, I have one issue. I currently need to go to another section to load all the images. Is there any other solution that allows all the images to load at the same time without requiring me to go to another section?
Hi Sorry to hear this - I'm not sure I understand. I think it sounds like you might not have gone through the process of turning on Auto Save. So the pictures from the other account can only be seen in the shared tab? Can you see an option to allow Auto Save? It might be in the shared or utilities tab or settings. Hope this helps
So I deleted a picture in my original photos, and witched to shared account and then went to look at the photos and it disappeared from there too.. you said it wouldn't, am I understanding something wrong?
Hi thanks for the kind question - it sounds as if "Auto save" isn't switched on. Go into the sharing tab on a desktop or phone in Google Photos and the option to "Auto save" should be there. Once switched on, the photo stays after being deleted in the other account. Or click on the settings cog in the top right corner. Click 'partner sharing' And click on "Save to your account" Hope this helps!
I've done this before with TH-cam where I created playlists and shared them to another account of mine. But I don't think if I deleted any content it would still be available on my other account. Maybe Google photos is different
You guys don't need to delete anything. Just have backup on for your current alt account, and share with that account. You can remove your first partner share when it's full on storage and it'll keep the same photos you shared with the previous account even if you stop sharing with it.
Great question - if it were me I guess it would depend on how big I wanted to print. I've printed these at 6x4" and they look perfect to me but if I were into printing high res or onto larger canvasses then I'd probably rely on saving them to a hard drive as a backup, which is what I do. Hope this helps
Hi neil😊How many hours does it take when compressing the photos? And also does it takes internet when backing up the photos thankyou🇵🇭 i subscribe to your channel💯
Hi Ian, thanks for the kind comment and questions. It can take a few hours, but I think some people report that Google Photos is showing that it is still compressing long after it has actually finished compressing. It takes internet when backing up photos from your phone, but not when it is compressing. You can close the window and it will happen in the cloud. Hope I've understood your questions correctly and good luck!
Thanks for the kind question Netcalibur - I've had mine for about a year now and no duplicates - it's quite handy being able to have and search everything in one place, in both places! So one account is the one that's uploaded to, and it also has my legacy pics, and the other where the new photos are shared with... Hope this helps! Good luck with your storage
@@neilmossey yeah, all good, thank you. I've noticed that archived shared pictures will take up storage as they actually get saved and uploaded onto your cloud. So no archiving then 🫡
Hi thanks for the kind question Leo, if auto save is turned on, if you delete the photos from the original account they remain in the shared account - and for me - they stay there even if the partner sharing is turned off/removed! without taking up space! Probably best to double check by testing by deleting one photo in the original account. Good luck!
Hi forgive me if I'm not understanding correctly but to make sure - auto save is additional to the partner sharing If you go into 'settings' in desktop Google Photos Then click the pull down menu under 'partner sharing' Does it say: "Save to your account All photos" If so all shared photos should remain in the shared account after you delete them in the original account. Hope this helps
But if your phone gallery is connected to the new Google account, won't all those images and videos count toward the new Google account's 15GB storage limit? No matter what, youre sruck with 15GB, no?
I have been using this method to save photos and videos for almost 2 years now and have saved more than 20 terabytes in original sizes, I hope that Google will not block this feature.

Then that's a great bug at google, these photos belong to nobody since they are shared by account 2, and deleted by account 2, but someone on internet like account 1 still has access that means google doesnt really delete them 😮
Everything is currently downloading, sharing, and freeing up storage. Thank you!!🙂
Amazing thankyou so much
What if i upload let's say 1 GB of photos on my Account 1 and share them (partner sharing) with Account 2 and save them in Account 2 (as mentioned in this video) then I delete them from Account 1, will I still be able to access those photos from Account 2? How long they'll available to me? Is there any chances google will delete those photos as they were deleted from Account 1 but still accessible by Account 2?
To whoever finds this comment, it actually works. You can delete all photos from the original account and get more storage there, don’t worry, they won’t be deleted in the shared photos. Thanks Neil.
And can I back up that from another account...?

Don't forget to activate the AUTO SAVE option after the partner link is made, so that photos are saved in the shared account even if you delete them from the first account. They take up no storage quota and appear as original quality!

Yes, I looked at multiple videos of yours to help me with this process. Thanks again!
Thanks so much
Could you please advise on whether I should enable the Back Up feature for both accounts so that it will automatically upload the photos?
Thank you!
Hi Neil how can we share all google album with the partner sharing???? I am able to see photos but not albums...

Hi Marwan
Thanks for the kind comment and really pleased you've managed to set up Partner Sharing!
There's only one step now and that is to switch on AUTO SAVE
On a desktop or laptop, go to google.photos.com
and click on the sharing tab on the left hand side
There should be a really big button offering to auto save
If not, click on the cog at the top of the screen
Click on partner sharing
then click save to your account
On a phone, click on the partner sharing tab
the option to auto save should be there, if not, go into settings as above
Hope this helps, let me know if it doesn't work
Good luck with your Google Photos!
Hi Neil, I guess this is FREE storage only if u dont delete the photos from original account. Once you delete photos on original account, They count as storage on the new account?? Isnt it so?
Hi @aditya234567
Thanks for the kind question:
With partner sharing, if you turn on auto save, the photos shared from the 'photos' account to the 'original' account do not count as storage on the shared account.
Plus they are shared at original quality, even if storage saver is turned on!
They do count as storage on the 'photos' account, but if auto save is switched on, when you delete them from the 'photos' account they remain in the shared account, so the photos account can always be kept under 15GB.
Hope this helps
Thanks for the video Neil!! Do you also turn backup off on your second account?
bless you Neil, i was just gonna pay for more storage but since i just want to save photos and videos this works perfectly, many thanks

(This also stopped my phone filling up to maximum)
It meant the 'new' photos account only had 'new' photos, and I partner share it with my very old personal account that I use daily so that everything is in one place.
Thank you so much! It works perfectly! Never had this Idea 💡 Liked and subbed.
Thanks for the kind message Adnan, really pleased it might work!
you are actually smart thank you very much! now can you please answer me this??
1. I connected my original account with the 2nd account.
2. Now second has all the original pictures.
3. Now i can delete all the images in my original account? and then continue taking photos which will be automatically backed up to my 2nd account and i can again repeat step 3 (delete photos to reset 15gb storage) ???
Hi thanks for the kind comment
Yes- but...
Hey Neil This is a great video big pro tip detail…if your pics are not backed up it won’t work because your storage is full. So with the new account your sharing with you must perform the back up before you start deleting pics?????

But won't the new account will start backing all the photos that you have in your phone again?
Let's say I have photos from 2017 to 2023 in my phone and which are also backed up in my original account "2017", then if I make another account "2023", it will again backup all the photos from 2017 to 2023 in 2023 account, so on and so forth. Is there any way out without deleting the photos from phone or moving them to a separate folder?
Same question
I was going to buy icloud storage, but then this video came in front of me.❤Thank you Neil🌝
Unfortunately no longer works, deleted from both accounts.
Hi Neil....in the partner sharing, if I add my desktop computer email account as the partner I am sharing with, does that mean my photos are going to go to my desktop email, or will it be another folder on my phone? I don't want them all to go to my desk top computer
hi neil ...as you mentioned, if we delete photos from account 1 after sharing to account 2 it wont get deleted from account 2. but in my case its been sync and the photos and videos are also getting deleted from account 2...pls suggest.
In my case as well
Neil, I have watched all your videos on getting free Google Photos storage by sharing on additional Google accounts.

I’m kinda confused, I’ve created both Google accounts and I shared both accounts.
Do I have to upload photos to one account and wait until it also saves to the shared account?
If so do I have to delete the already backed up photos from the first account to continue to backup new photos?
Not true anymore.😩 i just deleted a photo from account one and it also deleted from the share in account 2 😢
will they be backed up and safe for future in the 'shared' account? even if we delete from the 'original' account?
Hi thanks for asking.
I've tested this many times and continue to test it on my own accounts.
If you delete from the original account and auto save is switched on, they stay in the shared account even after deleting!
You could try testing this yourself with a test photo..

wHi, just one quick question, when I create the new photos account should I activate the backup there, since I don’t have any space left in my old account?
Thanks for the kind question - yes, that's how I do it - I make sure my photos upload to the new account.
I also backup the photos on my phone to a hard drive/memory stick for safety and delete them on my phone so I'm not backing up exactly the same files that caused the space to be used up in the first place, but your mileage may vary.
Good luck with your storage and thanks again

Yes that's correct BUT make sure you have activated 'auto save' in both accounts as shown in the video.
Also, delete one photo you don't care about first as a test - I am still doing this and it still works, so really hope this works for you

Can I check you haven't missed a step?
And another question I have tried to download a picture from my sharing account and i couldnt because there is no option of saving the photo from google sharing account 🥲😭 and what i did is i deleted that picture from my icloud which got deleted from my first google acc and i only have it in my sharing new google acc . Sorry for the long question session . Would be glad if you would take a min to reply 🥹
After I share the two accounts and basically sync them together, are you saying it’s safe for me to delete them from my original Google photos account?
Hi Kristen, - thanks for the kind comment and question:
Yes, it's safe BUT this is what I do:
- make sure that Auto Save is turned on.
It's easy to take a test photo, let it be synced/shared and then delete it to confirm it doesn't disappear in the shared-to account.
- Back up your phone to a storage card, computer, memory stick or hard drive (or all of them!) periodically for safety
I've even partner shared, with other accounts then removed that account (you can only partner share one at a time) and the photos remain in my shared-to account to this day.
Thanks a ton for providing this useful information. !
Hi thanks for the great questions - I find this confusing, so it's helpful to be asked these!
When I've deleted from the photos app, and the photo is still on the phone, I'm finding that it doesn't re-sync or re-back it up, bizarrely.
I dont know how it knows
And About every 6 months I back up to hard drive and delete things from my phone to stop the phone filling up.
I'm sorry Neil, when i delete the photos from my original google photos account, it doest not shows up in other account
@@AshishSalunke1hi ashish, have you set the setting to "save all" on the receiving account?
@@afif294 Yes, I did 👍🏼 Still when I delete a photo from Account 1 then it automatically gets deleted from Account 2
@@AshishSalunke1 Thanks Ashish and sorry to hear this - that's frustrating.
Can I ask, how are you deleting the photo, are you deleting it on your phone, and which account is your phone logged into?
(You can only backup and sync the phone to one account at a time)
Excellent, I have just tried it, and it works 😀
Thanks Italjohn!
This hack does not work anymore as it will only share your backed-up photos. Can you please share whether I am doing somerhing wrong?
Thanks Neil, the first process of compressed storage worked but this one is hmmmm🤔
Is it safe to make multiple gmail ids with the same mobile number?
Or is there any problem with that?
I mean like in future in case you are logged out of your ids.
Interesting , so if you delete them from the photo account they are still on share account ? So how is the photo account sharing photos it deleted?
Sounds like google doesn’t ( currently) care?
Yes, it works. I've tried it. I hope this doesn't get fixed...
Hi Neil just when i wanted the answer for my google storage problem, i came across this video n Iam glad i watched it. Nicely explained everything. But i have 1 qusestion.
Once we do the partner sharing, do we have to back up on the new google ac 2 or keep it on google ac 1. Cz if i do backup in google ac 2, mails n all will be backed up there which i font want.
After partner sharing, can I delete the photos from my original accnt?
Yes
Thanks for this info,i tried this on my own before seeing ur vdo,but wasn't sure. I think we should create a new google account for this to work, rt ??
Hi Aruna, yes that's right - create a new google account first. Forgive me, this is covered here on my other video, in case this helps: th-cam.com/video/P61Su8sa_2c/w-d-xo.html
Good luck and thank you again for taking the time to leave a kind comment
I select All photos but in the shared photos there's missing All the photos why??
I've done exactly the same. But i deleted some photos from acc 1 (main acc) and those photo got deleted from acc 2 as well.
Really sorry to hear this. Can I ask if 'auto save' is switched on?
The auto save setting should appear in the 'sharing' tab on desktop or in the app:
Photos settings - sharing - partner sharing
Hope this helps
I don't understand, surely the 'photo' account you created will have storage used up there?
Hi thanks for the kind question.
If you share with the account where you want to see everything, and have auto save turned on... when you delete from the new 'photos' account, they remain in the account where you want to see everything. That way you can always free up space in the 'photos' account.
Hope this helps and good luck with your Google Storage!
if u delete the photos from the original account the photos shared with be in 2nd account but it will be stored back to phone. right ?
You have been so helpful but every time I delete a photo from the original account it’s getting deleted from the second account too? Is there another step at the end I’m missing?
Hi Jill
Thanks for the kind message - can I double check if you've gone through the "Auto save" section of the process: in the video it's at 4:15
This is how I do it:
I called Account 1 my old account - the one which is nearly full. I do not keep Google Photos on my phone logged into this account, I have turned off 'backup and sync' in this account.
Account 2 is my new account. I've called it my 'photos' account. The Google Photos app is logged into this account (all other Google apps on my phone are on account 1)
I have backup and sync turned on in the Google Photos app.
Here's what might have happened:
Have you activated "Auto Save" on Account 1?
(I've activated it for account 2 too but account 1 is crucial)
This step is shown at 4:15 in the video.
Click 'partner sharing'
And click on "Save to your account"
Hope this helps!
well you are a little god send Neil, it's worked a treat, thank you 😁
I've done this before with TH-cam where I created playlists and shared them to another account of mine. But I don't think if I deleted any content it would still be available on my other account. Maybe Google photos is different
Neil, you genius!
Thanks for the kind comment. I sometimes have my days!
So cool! Can't wait to try this!
Thanks for the kind comment Susan, and hope something here helps! Good luck with your Google Photos!
So, what did I do wrong? I set up the sharing, and to test it, deleted some photos from account 1, which also got deleted in account 2!
I've done as you've said. im scared to delete the photos from the original account as it says it will be deleted from people i share with too
I just tested it with only deleting one photo and it disappeared from BOTH accounts. I’m guessing they closed the loop hole 😭
You guys don't need to delete anything. Just have backup on for your current alt account, and share with that account. You can remove your first partner share when it's full on storage and it'll keep the same photos you shared with the previous account even if you stop sharing with it.
Does partner account needs to be a business account or it could be a normal account?
Thanks for asking - it can be a normal account - hope this helps!
Million dollar question will it preserve image size so the person your sharing with can print original image size???
Both directions? You'll end up having duplicates in both accounts. Am I wrong?
Thanks for the kind question Netcalibur - I've had mine for about a year now and no duplicates - it's quite handy being able to have and search everything in one place, in both places! So one account is the one that's uploaded to, and it also has my legacy pics, and the other where the new photos are shared with... Hope this helps! Good luck with your storage
@@neilmossey yeah, all good, thank you.
I've noticed that archived shared pictures will take up storage as they actually get saved and uploaded onto your cloud. So no archiving then 🫡
Thanks - have you clicked on the 'i' icon in the shared photos because mine state they do not take up quota. might be worth checking just in case!
Got to ask a dumb question but, can I delete the photos from original account? If I do will the sharing get stopped?
Hi thanks for the kind question Leo, if auto save is turned on, if you delete the photos from the original account they remain in the shared account - and for me - they stay there even if the partner sharing is turned off/removed! without taking up space!
Probably best to double check by testing by deleting one photo in the original account. Good luck!
@@neilmossey thanks! But my auto sharing is turned on but when i deleted one image, it got removed from shared too.
Hi forgive me if I'm not understanding correctly but to make sure - auto save is additional to the partner sharing
If you go into 'settings' in desktop Google Photos
Then click the pull down menu under 'partner sharing'
Does it say:
"Save to your account
All photos"
If so all shared photos should remain in the shared account after you delete them in the original account.
Hope this helps
@@LeoIIXII it will only be deleted in the sharing. but the photos are still saved in the all photos tab!
But if your phone gallery is connected to the new Google account, won't all those images and videos count toward the new Google account's 15GB storage limit? No matter what, youre sruck with 15GB, no?
Same question. How is the storage unlimited?
