Cloud engineer here. I have no bachelors degree and am a Sr Cloud engineer. I know many in lead/delivery manager roles w/o a degree period. With that said I’m thinking of doing this degree to make myself more attractive for bigger roles.
Wow I’ve done about 12 of these classes already. That would’ve crazy if I got my degree by the end of this year
how is it ? is it challenging ? I'm thinking about studying cloud computing at WGU but I'm still hesitant, especially since I don't have a rich IT background 🙄
Thanks for the advice brother man 🙏
I’m starting this degree on the first is there any other recommendations you have like? Is there any outside books I should read before actually starting degree that would be helpful thank you.
I’ve been waiting on this
With the AI Software Engineer Devin and exponential growth of AI skillsets, Not sure you're correct that Software Engineering jobs will grow. Especially not junior roles. AI will still have to be hosted in the Cloud, but it'll be doing the coding via prompting according to NVIDIA CEO
still need people who understand how to create that prompt properly
Check out the Devin demo. It is literally a Software Developer. It's not a prompt system. It develops a plan, codes up a program, browses the internet to find solutions, then applies them to its code.
@@Terry-u8gI’m all for AI but that should be illegal
Is it even worth going into this program with zero IT experience??.. I am trying to escape the labor route that I am in... But everything I look at for WGU on reddit and stuff; everyone seems to have experience in the fields and are furthering their careers.
What do you all think?
It’s still worth it, especially if you can get some of the cost covered. I’d start with paying for some ace credits and getting a lot of the degree done. Get the degree, get all the cloud certs, start a portfolio website, and market yourself like crazy.
The great thing about WGU is the certs. Jobs really love IT certifications. Yes its way worth it.
Did you end up going this route?
If your employer will fully pay for WGU, would you still go through these third party websites?
If you want to finish fast, yes. If not, no.
Can I do these courses while enrolled in wgu or it has to be before enrollment
You can enroll but it has to be before your start date
@@alexsheppe thank you
could you email this excel guide to me please?
It’s on my website
copy
You doing an updated video on software engineering degree? I’m starting at WGU this month so it would be helpful thanks
Yes. And it’s also the one degree I’m doing a dive into the courses. The only degree I’m doing that for. It will be two separate videos.
@@alexsheppe looking forward to watching the videos! My plan is to finish it In 1 year when I turn 19 yr
