    I remember loving this as a kid because it had so many memorable one-off gags. I stopped caring about the plot or anything like that and just let Miike Myers take my ADD brain away. Also, I think all the adult-themed jokes were there to make it bearable for any adults who got dragged into watching.

    This movie convinced Dr Seuss' widow to never allow live action adaptations of his works again, and pretty much ended the career of the guy who just two years previously had been in a movie that was largely the reason there is a Best Animated Feature Oscar, and who had also brought us freaking Wayne's World and Austin Powers. What a stinker of a movie to cause that downfall.

    I dont exactly know how Rotten Tomatoes works, but man, I love this movie. I really do. There was a time where i baby sat my 7- and 4-year-old cousins. while my uncle and his girlfriend were having their anniversary, and while the 4-year-old was asleep on the couch, the 7-year-old and I had a legitimate and serious conversation about life, sharing our problems with each other, and the amazing part is, she understood and even responded to my problems I was going through. kids are smart if you talk to them like an equal instead of doing the whole "you're too young to understand" thing.

    When they made The Grinch that Stole Christmas, they took the time and effort to blend Jim Carrey into the hair/fur of the Grinch. Mike Meyers just looks like he's looking through one of those photo boards at a cheap theme park where you stick your head in the hole and it makes you look like you're a cowboy or a monkey...or a giant cat.

    I don’t care what anybody says, this is probably one of my favorite movies Comedy wise.
    You have to laugh at dark jokes in order for you to sit through this, the reason why there are so many plots, is purposely so you would get confused, it’s supposed to be a metaphor for the mother getting confused all the time because Conrad kept on just being a bad kid. A lot of him messages are inside this movie all comedy aside. But no offense, but I get that you guys are drained out of this movie, but I think it’s because you don’t get the sense of humor, or story. And I think it’s obvious that you guys haven’t read the book, because all of the stuff actually really does happen inside the book.

    • @hunterspride18
      @hunterspride18 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The problem is that the movie is based off a book. That book is genuine and extremely earnest, a lot of nuance and valuable lessons for children. Reading the book, it's clear that a very kindred soul wrote that book.
      This movie bastardized the books legacy. Forget nuance, let's throw 90 minutes of children's chaos at the screen and make "The Cat in the Hat" character an extremely toxic, mentally unstable individual.
      As a standalone movie call it what you want. As an adaptation? Bottom of the Barrel.

    As a kid (age 5) I liked this movie. Because I missed pretty much all the dark jokes or references and was captivated by the pretty colors, great set design and props. When you're a kid, the dialogue and narrative of the movie are just the window dressing of the jangling keys which is the visuals. That being said, by like age 10 I re-watched this movie and made all the same complaints and points you did, so I suppose just saying kid is a little too broad XD

      It’s not a bad film. But the overall length I feel made it drag a bit.
      I did kind of like Horton and Lorax though I haven’t seen them in years

    in all fairness, Mike Myers literally did to pay for one of the Austin Powers films. This movie was a favor. Anything the man dose that he has a passion for is amazing.
