    reminds me a lot of that game Journey that came out ages ago on the ps3. you'd travel the sands as a little person of some kind in a cloak and you would sometimes cross games with other players as they would show up in your game naturally. from there you could choose to progress together or just part ways as you saw fit. minimal emote style interactions too. He was coming in along the southeast road' and then like obviously you get the challenge like 'okay I'm gonna go walk the southeast road'. And then you find the guy and he says that he dropped his lockbox somewhere in the woods, and then like now you're exploring the woods for the lockbox. And then you bring the lockbox back, and then he goes and meets with his cousin and you've *changed* something in the world."

      Exactly because there would be less moneu thrown around. Naughty Dogs realised their vision with Last of Us 2 and look at the backlash, had they went with the done and dusted of Ellie taking over the town naturally there would have been no backlash. No character growth or the opposite, either.

    • @thebigenchilada678
      @thebigenchilada678 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@chillaxboi2109 no, don’t insult this game by comparing it to the last of us 2.
      It was bad because of it’s writing for both plot and character development that got it it’s backlash. That’s it, had they not fired the phenomenal (female) writer who wrote tlou 1 and replaced her with Neil “i’m so progressive that I fired my superior female coworker” Druckman it’d turn out completely different.

    • @chillaxboi2109
      @chillaxboi2109 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@thebigenchilada678 However the pacing felt, the makers realised their vision. TLOU1 wasn't perfect. Very one note in my opinion. But it was what people liked. TLOU2 wasn't perfect either, could have ended sooner or had a bit more into it to make it make more sense to the players.
      I repeat, the done and dusted would have received no amount of backlash.

    • @thebigenchilada678
      @thebigenchilada678 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@chillaxboi2109 done and dusted doesn’t matter what matters is execution.
      The story of TLOU1 itself isn’t what’s praised it was the characters and how they developed over the course of the game, that’s what made the game as good as it was, it’s the character driven narrative, TLOU2 failed because it essentially erased what made the first one so good by focusing *entirely* on its themes (which it does poorly still) over the actual development of characters, which again, literally made the first game what it was.
      And you keep saying “done and dusted” as if TLOU2 isn’t an outrageous revenge plot with a non sensical “twist” ending that thematically makes absolutely 0 sense. This is why TLOU2 got it’s heat, not because it tried something different but because it failed at doing so.

    • @chillaxboi2109
      @chillaxboi2109 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@thebigenchilada678 So you're going to willfully ignore the heat that wasn't part of the game?
      Was it *just* people hating on the overdrawn and poorly paced story?
      The game has its many bad aspects but it wasn't a fail in terms of being what it wanted to be. There was all of what you had in the first game, more, and because of its lack of connectivity at some points, also less.
      I think its an unfair view to not class it as a polarising game, at least.

    If you check the Dev's background on Steam...over the past several years they have already developed and published several games like this before either in design and/or artwork, world build and lores.
    It seems that a buildup of work that culminates into this TMORPG. I have a good feeling that it will develop well. They are unlike others who promises a lot yet lack any precursor products.
    Also from the high positive reviews and sales of their previous products, I'm assuming that they are also solvent, financially capable to carry it through.

    This game reminds me of another "trading" game Splatt covered awhile back, of the ttRPG Ryuutama, and of The Banner Saga. The covered game was your character taking over a business from her(?) parent(s) and had a kind of cartoony art style, and looked very interesting. Ryuutama is a Japanese ttRPG that is commonly described as "Hayao Miyazaki's Oregon Trail" and is a collaborative storytelling game (and would probably make an amazing video game).
    This one looks nice and relaxing. That tea and knot magic are in here really speaks to the laid-back feel of this game; as both are refined and storied traditions in real life. Splatt keeps mentioning "becoming part of the world" and it makes me hope that there's some amount of response from the game itself as you adventure. NPCs mentioning your (and other player's) name/nickname, and the events you are a part of, as you level up. I'd find that _extremely_ satisfying.

    I just want to say with my time playing the book of travels it was weird to get accustomed to the new style of play but I am use to playing the patient game so I gave it some time to sink in and every bit of it was new, the people I meet really did have an impact and even though communication was limited it reminds me of when I try to speak a different language, I can barely understand but I got the jest 😅. The impact of actually meeting someone is surprising and what’s cool is you’ll want to find someone even if it for a while because 4 arms is better then two when you’re lifting a bolder.

    When you open the game, you see "Twelve Minutes" then the letters go away one by one and you are left with a small word.
    But not always the same.
    You can be left with "Lies" or with "Ten".
    Ten is probably a hint to make you realize that your loops are ten minutes long, not 12.
    It can make you wonder what you have to do to get those 2 extra minutes.

    Definitely wish listed. It makes me think of a MMOish version of Thousand Threads.
