my preludes O2 sensors went out shortly after buying it and when i went to change them was when I realized it was gunna be easier to replace the whole exhaust, cat, and headers. (had about as much rust as you in some places) I was pumped when i saw you got the same Yonaka exhaust. its beautiful! but i also went with the dc headers, Megan racing test pipe and then the Yonaka cat back. It sounds amazing, and im sure you'll enjoy it once you get it figured out. Good luck man!
Thanks man, I’m going to do a temporary fix for now but new headers will probably be coming down the line! Glad I’m not the only one with this problem 😂
That saw scene made me nervous with all the sparks under the car; can that be dangerous with certain cars or are you always safe doing something like that?
Definitely gotta be aware of where the sparks are flying as well as the locations of the gas lines and tank. Worse case scenario something could catch on fire but it’s basically all metal down there so not a huge risk as far as I know. Just doing anything with safety in mind is important
Did you try unbolting the cat at the flange to the flex pipe? You could take the cat off and place it on a vice, and try to keep drilling through , if it's damaged you could just have a muffler shop weld a new flange on for you , just order the flange online and cut the old one off with a sawz all as neat as possible or grinder , or maybe when the muffler shop can cut it for you honestly. It'd run a little less than a high flow I think.
The cat if it's original OEM could be worth quite a bit of money, take a few pictures of it and get a few quotes on it from metal recyclers. Quite a bit in at least $500 if I remember correctly. If the car has a check engine light I'd go ahead and sell the converter to get a DC sports header and a high flow cat. Also the chrome exhaust finishers on your original exhaust can be sold online for a little bit of money if you haven't thrown it out yet.
Someone offered me $300 for the cat, I’ll continue to get quotes because it is all original and I’d definitely want a little more. Also currently have no check engine light. Appreciate your insight as always!

The thing is the bolts attaching the cat to the flex pipe / headers are just as bad as the ones I had to grind off. There’s no way I get it off clean unless I do the exact same thing I’m doing now but to the other side of the cat. But I’d love to do that honestly

You can heat the bolts up and knock them out. You can purchase the portable torch from homedepot or any hardware store.
