The first time I heard this, I started sobbing uncontrollably. I still cry every time. THIS is exactly what it feels like, trauma...especially multiple traumas, where those scratches on the record making it completely unusable.

NF is one of the realest artist in the music industry, you can tell he puts his life into his songs and I relate to him on many levels, same with Peep, Juice, and X 🌹

This song is so comforting and gives me chills at the same time. He has a real beauty of a singing voice, indeed, which I feel like he holds back from us too often. I know, considering his work ethic, that NF has a lot more songs in his repertoire that he feels insecure about. Last year he released a similar song (demo) called "chasing" and I don't wanna give away too much of its story, because you'll find out soon enough.
I loved your scratched vinyl reference by the way!

I always love how Nate is able to incorporate the Mansion instrumental with the violin. His songs are really something else. Whenever I feel super depressed and not happy with life I start playing his songs and it reminds me that I'm not alone.

i knew that this song was painful. so i ignored it for how long until to the point where it randomly played on my playlist. the moment the cello hits, i cried for the longest time just from the first verse. everything he sang relates to me nd i couldnt help it but play this song on repeat.. and i play it on repeat everytime i sleep.

I always think Nate, Trauma and Hate Myself are somewhat connected to each other in this order or has some link between them, which amazes me. In Nate he is saying to his little him that he is there when he need him, and in Trauma saying that you said you would be here for me but you aren't and I don't feel that way. In Hate Myself, it's almost like he is talking back to that saying I don't see you the way I should and how he is misunderstanding himself, and he wishes he could help himself but he can't because is so drowned with all of that self hatred. I could be wrong though

    Good afternoon Tom,
Yet another rendition of truly connoisseur music from NF. He's in his own lane. I think he is referencing "Joy" and "Freedom" when he says, "Why haven't you found me yet?" He references both of those emotions in many other songs asking to find them and to be introduced to them. This one is a heartfelt somber track that ended The Search Album.

One of the songs that really touches me along with Paralyzed, Chasing, and DRIFTING. This song really captures how it feels to be traumatized by something, in my case it was having my trust broken which made me close up and be cold to everyone even my family and true friends and to the point it led to self-hate and well being just pathetic. Which is why I agree on when you said about loving yourself or at least be able to open up and feel that it's okay to be vulnerable with people that you can trust. Anyway great video :DDD

    • @icyknight1733
      @icyknight1733 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

I also forgot to point out about the whole God thing, I was in a church community before and I felt like nothing changed, and when I was broken, got no one to trust to I kept asking God why does it this keep happening or why is He not helping me yet.

He does have a very soothing voice. He may not have a huge range or anything like that, but like you said, Tom, it is very calm. This is one of my favorite songs of his because of the singing. The message is very significant as well. Great reaction! Much love ✌ ❤

I doubt this comment will get enough traction for him to notice but there’s an album that saved my life that he has yet to cover “Painting of a Panic Attack” by frightened rabbit and the face the lead singer lost his life to suicide makes it so much harder

  • @emily_stewart

I think his perception in the chorus could either be referring to himself or God and that's not to say that God doesn't love him back but this is his perception and that's how I myself perceived it as someone who's always felt unworthy but maybe that's my own trauma speaking. ❤️

Personally, I don't have the self motivation in a manner of speaking to want to be alive.
I feel that it is required of me to be alive. To be a conduit more or less for others. That I must survive for the benefit of more than just myself. Yet it still conflicts to this day with me internally to try and differentiate what I want to be my thoughts and those that should just come and go.
It's also difficult to progress from the thought loops of when did I lose what I have lost rather than...try and find positive progress forward.
Thanks for all your opinions and thoughts.

I feel this so much. It’s so hard to be there for everyone else when nobody is ever there for you. When you can’t even be there for yourself because all you can give you’ve already given to others. Or had taken from you by others. Find that person that’s there for you. Someone will be. I promise they’re out there.

Hey, I just discovered your channel so sorry if you've already done this but can you react to hollywood undead? They have some really great emotional and discussion worthy songs which include but not limited too
The loss (My favorite, its short but its inspired by one of the band members' brother committing suicide
Bullet (Just a song about suicide, has an upbeat tune but dark lyrics as a person would put on a fake smile but be depressed)
Coming back down (This one is about death, and how a loved one wants to see them again i don't know if its about suicide or not)
circles (I am pretty sure its about one of the members where they broke up with their gf and she died a month later)
sing (just beautiful lyrics about hope for the future)
theres much more but those are good starter ones imo, if you manage to read this, thanks!

Can we get this man more interesting artists to react to than NF??? Don't get me wrong, NF isn't completely garbage or anything, but he comes off very derivative of 90's lyrical hip hop, and lacks a lot of GENUINELY thought provoking, and new ideas in his lyrics. Is NF just the only person y'all recommend, or is Reaction Therapy addicted? Just wish he would branch out more. Also think it'd be a lot better for his popularity. A psychotherapist needs better content to dissect than nf lyrics, and in return would get more fans and buzz if he starts listening to OTHER artists. Let's get some lupe in here, or ab soul, or mf doom, or aesop rock. This shit's just getting kind of stale. Sad and edgy rippity rap isn't really the heart of incredible thought provoking hip hop.
