Damn, my first few relationships went the same. Gift giving and acts of service are my love languages so I would always spoil them and not expect anything in return, obviously that didn't end up well and I found myself being taken for granted and disrespected and eventually ended it when I caught her cheating. relationships are supposed to be mutual and I didn't realize that until I my third relationship when I flew my partner to my city and he lived there rent free for 9 months when he was supposedly "looking for a job" but he would just be on his Playstation most of the days, I don't know how I put up with it but I did until my mom snapped me out of it and told me to have some self respect. Now, I don't chase. It's hard though when I date someone with the intention to be with them for life and nowadays people don't think like that, they just date so they can say they're dating someone.

Exactly! I think my biggest realization was when i realized that letting someone take advantage of me was a reflection of how much I care about myself! That was a tough pill to swallow!
