One lil thing to add, the Yellow MissingNo can technically improve it's movepool since it can evolve from another glitchmon called Z with a good movepool, but it evolves at level 224. In the silly context of this vid I wouldn't count that but this thing needs all the help it can get
@@1Pidds They can. The moment a Pokemon over Level 100 in gen I gets exp it will level down to 100. However, you can keep feeding them Rare Candies to go until 255, at which point they wrap down to zero. And then you're real fucked, because many Exp formulas in gen 1 do not take kindly to being level zero, usually leading to a soft lock on gaining any exp.
1) Catch 8P 2) Teach it Thunder Wave, Ice Beam and other weird moves. 3) Evolve into Spearow 4) Congratulations you now possess a legit Fearow with weird moves.
The programming of Gen 1 is so funny. Those cartridges are basically like when you pack a car so thoroughly with stuff for a road trip that you have to start strapping things to the roof and maybe a little on the sides and under the car

Female symbol is a fascinating pokemon outside of its stats to me, because it's actually the tallest pokemon thats ever existed, and encountering it will cause the game to play its cry, a series of random notes, forever, leading many people to draw fanart of her singing to you There are a few videos of the cry, parts of it are oddly beautiful
Another reason ♀ is great for stall tactics is it's cry! Once encountered, it will play a grating series of noises followed by what sounds like a corrupted song from the soundtrack. Since the battle menu will not appear until the cry is done playing and the music loops infinitely, you are forced to turn off the game to continue
Technically, its cry is a randomly sampled selection of audio from across the entire game, meaning its cry is different for every file. Sometimes it's infinite, sometimes it's one note sustained for six seconds straight.
i ran a few tests when i was obsessed with this glitch (about 15 years ago), and on emulator it seemed like the cry was always infinitely long, but on real hardware it usually ended in 7 - 12 minutes. by far my favorite glitch pokemon

Some thoughts: Oddly enough, Yellow form Missingno would actually be MORE functional in player battles than in single player. It's Exp formula is so fucked up, that as soon as it gains a single point, it levels up to level 1, where it gains infinite HP and can only gain levels via rare candy spam. Wow, I never knew female symbol had good stats and moves! I'm pretty sure I've caught one before, but it's almost unusable because it has a black glitch screen that makes text boxes completely black so you can't see its moves...
@@yomireal7570 Most of the documentation I've found about the Q glitch is really confusing, so I'm not entirely sure how exactly stats and exp work with it. I just use it to get cool move on pokemon, like Scyther with useable STAB moves, Kabutops with Rock Slide, cool stuff
♀ is my favorite glitchmon of all time between the name, the fact that its sprite kinda looks like half of a creepy face, and the fact that its cry is sometimes an infinitely looping bit of glitch music that prevents the game from proceeding, so finding out it would also be great in a competitive context makes me very happy
Not only does ♀.s cry/pokedex entry freeze up the game, it also messes up the games sprite system! Even encountering it in battle and running away with cause sprites to go everywhere on the screen, and some sprites can be interacted with. (Going to a new route fixes it, though!)
Something I find hilarious about 3TrainerPoké$ is that it’s pre-evolution is obtained by doing the Time Capsule glitch with Dunsparce, making it an evolution of Dunsparce before Gen 9. It can also evolve into Exeggcute, and thereby Exeggutor as well.
I found an easier way to get 3TrainerPoke and it's simply by sending an 'M from Red or Blue over to Yellow, this causes 'M to transform or sort of evolve into 3TrainerPoke unofficially and gain this god-like power.
@@dr.toxicgamingmadscientist I've done it by just using the Remaining HP Glitch with a fainted Pokemon. (I was planning on merging it with Missingno anyway to remove the level limit, so I had no issues with catching a 4 4 Hy and evolving it into a Q and using it for the glitch.)

You were right when you said that "8P" has the same type effectiveness as a Normal type. But the reason is slightly different from what you said. One of its types is the _real_ normal type, and its other type is a glitch type 0x11, which appears as Normal on the status screen, but - like every other glitch type - has completely neutral interactions! This is an example of what GlitchCity calls a "False Type".
@@AndyBrixton999 Actually, no, but for a different reason. EVERY Pokemon has 2 types internally, with single-type Pokemon having the same type assigned twice. If both types are equal, the second type is ignored. So all of these cases are possible: Normal/Normal - (e.g. Rattata) - This is literally a regular Normal type Normal/FakeNormal - (e.g. "8 P") - This behaves the same as a regular Normal type does. FakeNormal/FakeNormal - (e.g. the Pokemon at 24:16 ) - This behaves as a typeless Pokemon. So unlike what he said, it doesn't actually get STAB.

The funny thing about that last Pokemon.... Is that it's 'M, like you trade an 'M from Pokemon Red and Blue into Yellow you get this Pokemon. In other words.... 'M gets a glow-up in Yellow.

It would probably be good, but might be hard to fit. Tauros crits a lot, which ignores boosts, and has a pretty good moveset for coverage. Though thinking about it, you might drop blizzard, boosted attack eq and hyperbeam probably shreds everything.
The two genders: Supersonic probability-breaking eldritch abomination with legendary stats... and Magmar. Oh and Big Yellow of course. My favorite gender.

He of course caught an X ゥ- xゥ, and the most memorable time he used it was to help take down a glitch trainer, which was Agatha but with an assortment of level 205 Pokemon instead of her normal team.
I used to just fuck up my copy of Yellow all the time. I had a blue Pikachu that knew Fly, Surf, and Ice Beam through some combining glitch, I did the Mew Glitch day in and day out to fill my Pokedex, I went absolutely fucking monkey mode with this thing

Id love some artist to give these glich pokemon an appearance. Like, they are just random collections of pixels but they could have a real design based on their stat or how to find them. I feel like it would be fun to stick to the first gen design philosophy too.
Hear me out: glitchmon tradebacks Almost(?) all glitchmons occupy slots that are filled by real pokemon in G/S/C, and trading them to gen 2 will turn them into a normal version of that pokemon (and vice versa). There are glitches to allow you to send Gen 2 mons back into RBY, so you could theoretically get these glitch mons with even wider move pools from their Gen 2 counterparts.
you have to change their type with another glitch in order to transfer them to Gen 2 though as an example if you want to transfer pPKMNp' ' to GS, you'd need to edit its type from ?/Poison to Fire/Fire, because of Cyndaquil being its equivalent
@Donut Apostle [7th] I haven't heard of that, but we're not necessarily going to be trading these glitch 'mons forward into Gen 2-- sending them backwards is what matters, which requires different circumstances to bypass the time capsule's restrictions, but the process is pretty well documented

Bulbapedia has made a few mistakes in the stats and I will go over them as they come. *pPkMnp' '* - Special trainer moves: Change Gym leader Giovanni's 2nd mon (Persian)'s 2nd move to Double Team (104), start changing his 3rd mon (Nidoqueen)'s 1st move. *'r 'r 4* - Special trainer moves: Change Agatha's 2nd Gengar's 2nd move to Psychic (94); insert terminator byte (0); load Lance (trainer class 47)'s 1st (and only) team. *CA* - Special trainer moves: Change Blaine's Arcanine (3rd mon)'s 1st move to Flamethrower (53), change its 2nd move to Fire Blast (126), start changing another of its moves. *9* - From some code that prints a dash when there is no move in one of the 4 move slots. 5:38 The opening stuff on this one, namely the name as Yellow pronounces it and the typing, seems like nice building blocks to start making a fresh new Pokémon. Start with a new spelling based on that pronunciation, let’s say “Pikump”; as for the typing, Poison seems good while the Glitch obviously needs to be replaced, I’m thinking Water for some reason. Stats and moves, not so much. So, Pikump, Poison/Water type, start fresh from there.
I'm very late but the name combined with typing makes me think of some kind of infested/rotting driftwood, a kind of sudowudo moment where it's supposed to deceive you into thinking it's maybe grass/water but the driftwood isn't actually the pokemon, it's whatever has taken up home inside it

Something funny about missing no is that you most likely won't be able to even catch it cause it references a invalid soundbank and softlocks the game until it eventually crashes

I had the same thought. I also think legality would be an interesting factor to apply, pretty much just not letting you mix and match the movesets. It would still be a change up, though. Say you come across a Magmar in PU: there could be a lot of strategy in making the opponent guess whether you’re using the normal Magmar moveset or the glitched male one.
Your first glitchmons video inspired me to run a Pokemon DND campaign centered around RBY glitches so excited to see more to add into Roll20 >:D also am loving the very Gender™️ look, it's great!!
Watching this gave me the idea of turning these glitchmon into actual pokemon. Like giving them a sprite and pokedex description that could match their type, stats, movepool, name, and color pallet. Maybe I'll try it sometime, or maybe someone's already done it.
I like how this video gives competitive sets for Pokemon that don't even exist, they're literally just pieces of the code of the game pressed into a vaguely Pokemon shape
Yellow Missingno is glitchy becuase it tries to load a invalid sound bank.Patching it out actually allows you to teach a glitch move to one of your pokemons.ZZAZZGlitch has a clip about this in his interesting observations series.
(and TH-cam is eating my comments because mean poopie swear words) Pokemon yellow glitchmons in general are vastly more unstable than the RB glitchmons. They're very likely to cause immense game breaking glitches just by running into them, like ♀ corrupting the sound data and screaming at you for eternity. Also those colored box glitchmons? Like ♀ and CA? Yeah those boxes bleed into the menu and make it impossible to see your prompts. Though X ゥ- xゥ has a similar effect in making your menu PURPLE. X ゥ- xゥ is an alright lad!
The fact that Gen 1 functions as a video game without falling apart entirely absolutely astounds me, I honestly gotta respect Game Freak for somehow keeping the biggest pile of code spaghetti I've ever seen look just fine on the base level AND being compatible with Yellow after everything was reindexed for the new content Yellow added. Changing stuff in these games and not having them fling themselves into the sea is easier than I anticipated

This also means I get to expand and actually manifest my hypothetical meta predictions I had sitting in in my notes folder since August. It's gonna be a freaking long wall of text, so I will put it separated within this comment. Thanks, Big Yellow, for this video! I love you! --- MY PREDICTIONS FOR A GLITCHMONS META THAT WILL PROBABLY NEVER HAPPEN --- We yet again would have the Big 3. The Big 3 would be 4 89 4, C1, and DC. DC would be a massive threat upon setting Swords Dance, becoming potentially unkillable. C1 is faster than P, so C1 is more valuable, but both are usable if you want two bulky physical destroyers. 94 would be a nice option for another Normal/Ghost stat stick. The Tauros of RBY OU would be 4 89 4. It's less bulky than C1 and P but since it's Normal/Ghost can switch into Hi Jump Kicks and Body Slams and since it is faster than both it doesn't get trapped by their Clamp, threatening to use Swords Dance and start killing everything that dares to face it. F2 is yet another stat-stick. I think you would want to take advantage of the special movepool it gets as the physical damage would be prevalent and special damage would be therefore more sought-after to take down things like M p'u. even if it gets Swords Dance. EC gets Swords Dance as well and I feel like you would want to use it this time. X x is to HI what C1 is to P. That said, they are stat sticks comparable to F2, so definitely usable. 3TrainerPoké$ is tempting but I feel like the slowness making it vulnerable to Clamp and lack of HP would make it worse compared to what we saw above. Still, can be a strategic pick to get extra damage on Pokémon without partial trapping. M p'u is a physical wall that would see use since the three best Pokémon in the tier are physical menaces. Woman would be a variant of EC. Maybe even better. .g is a hard-counter to M p'u. Outspeeds and very probably one-shots with that huge special. No other glitchmon would be usable because I feel like they would be outclassed. A is a worse M p'u, but I think it's better than 'M. DE would be decent in a lower power tier. 4(h4? is the decrepit cousin of 'M. 'v is useful but too frail for the power level. F4 is really fast and could probably chip away some health to ease the job of late game. Triangle would be literally an Explosion click. Might be more impactful than anything else below this. D9 is a better P4$? P4$ is a better F5. F5 would be a better Missingno. Red/Blue I feel like. Missingno. Red/Blue is rather bad, which makes all three fundamentally flawed. 4 4 is a defensive alternative to P4$, if for some reason you would want it. 8P is a worse Missingno. Red/Blue. 9 is the special attacker ever. E3 is better than 4h and C? I guess? Still garbage. 4h at least can pray for a freeze. C is utterly useless, as are r' r' 4, CA and Missingno. Yellow. If you use 6 pPkMnp' ' and manage to kill one Pokémon on the opponent team you are a Chad. Smol Yellow is the new mascot of the channel. Can't convince me otherwise.
I like the idea until you get to 4 4. That thing truly is the Lovecraftian horror of glitchmons due it's massive 256×256 pixel size! You can make it stable as ChickasaurusGL demonstrated 5 years ago I think. It's real cry is a single channel of the move Surf
@@Kali_Krause Yeah... I mean, one of the reasons some glitchmons crash games is because the game can't handle their sprites. 256x256 is huge for the GameBoy. That said, cries like that are quite common among glitchmons. Some glitchmons have like pitched up versions of attacks or entire songs as cries.

Female symbol is a fascinating pokemon outside of its stats to me, because it's actually the tallest pokemon thats ever existed, and encountering it will cause the game to play its cry, a series of random notes, forever, leading many people to draw fanart of her singing to you

Another reason ♀ is great for stall tactics is it's cry! Once encountered, it will play a grating series of noises followed by what sounds like a corrupted song from the soundtrack. Since the battle menu will not appear until the cry is done playing and the music loops infinitely, you are forced to turn off the game to continue
Technically, its cry is a randomly sampled selection of audio from across the entire game, meaning its cry is different for every file. Sometimes it's infinite, sometimes it's one note sustained for six seconds straight.

i ran a few tests when i was obsessed with this glitch (about 15 years ago), and on emulator it seemed like the cry was always infinitely long, but on real hardware it usually ended in 7 - 12 minutes. by far my favorite glitch pokemon

Oddly enough, Yellow form Missingno would actually be MORE functional in player battles than in single player. It's Exp formula is so fucked up, that as soon as it gains a single point, it levels up to level 1, where it gains infinite HP and can only gain levels via rare candy spam.
Wow, I never knew female symbol had good stats and moves! I'm pretty sure I've caught one before, but it's almost unusable because it has a black glitch screen that makes text boxes completely black so you can't see its moves...
You could try using the q glitch to put its stats into a pokemon you can actually see

♀ is my favorite glitchmon of all time between the name, the fact that its sprite kinda looks like half of a creepy face, and the fact that its cry is sometimes an infinitely looping bit of glitch music that prevents the game from proceeding, so finding out it would also be great in a competitive context makes me very happy
Not only does ♀.s cry/pokedex entry freeze up the game, it also messes up the games sprite system! Even encountering it in battle and running away with cause sprites to go everywhere on the screen, and some sprites can be interacted with. (Going to a new route fixes it, though!)

Something I find hilarious about 3TrainerPoké$ is that it’s pre-evolution is obtained by doing the Time Capsule glitch with Dunsparce, making it an evolution of Dunsparce before Gen 9. It can also evolve into Exeggcute, and thereby Exeggutor as well.

@@dr.toxicgamingmadscientist I've done it by just using the Remaining HP Glitch with a fainted Pokemon. (I was planning on merging it with Missingno anyway to remove the level limit, so I had no issues with catching a 4 4 Hy and evolving it into a Q and using it for the glitch.)

You were right when you said that "8P" has the same type effectiveness as a Normal type. But the reason is slightly different from what you said. One of its types is the _real_ normal type, and its other type is a glitch type 0x11, which appears as Normal on the status screen, but - like every other glitch type - has completely neutral interactions! This is an example of what GlitchCity calls a "False Type".
So if it really was Normal/Normal, would it get double STAB?
If I remember correctly there was a Normal/Ground glitchmon in RB too where both types turned out to be fake, that's awesome to know!
@@AndyBrixton999 Actually, no, but for a different reason. EVERY Pokemon has 2 types internally, with single-type Pokemon having the same type assigned twice. If both types are equal, the second type is ignored. So all of these cases are possible:
Normal/Normal - (e.g. Rattata) - This is literally a regular Normal type
Normal/FakeNormal - (e.g. "8 P") - This behaves the same as a regular Normal type does.
FakeNormal/FakeNormal - (e.g. the Pokemon at 24:16 ) - This behaves as a typeless Pokemon. So unlike what he said, it doesn't actually get STAB.

It would probably be good, but might be hard to fit. Tauros crits a lot, which ignores boosts, and has a pretty good moveset for coverage. Though thinking about it, you might drop blizzard, boosted attack eq and hyperbeam probably shreds everything.

Hear me out: glitchmon tradebacks
Almost(?) all glitchmons occupy slots that are filled by real pokemon in G/S/C, and trading them to gen 2 will turn them into a normal version of that pokemon (and vice versa). There are glitches to allow you to send Gen 2 mons back into RBY, so you could theoretically get these glitch mons with even wider move pools from their Gen 2 counterparts.
you have to change their type with another glitch in order to transfer them to Gen 2 though
as an example if you want to transfer pPKMNp' ' to GS, you'd need to edit its type from ?/Poison to Fire/Fire, because of Cyndaquil being its equivalent
@Donut Apostle [7th] I haven't heard of that, but we're not necessarily going to be trading these glitch 'mons forward into Gen 2-- sending them backwards is what matters, which requires different circumstances to bypass the time capsule's restrictions, but the process is pretty well documented

5:38 The opening stuff on this one, namely the name as Yellow pronounces it and the typing, seems like nice building blocks to start making a fresh new Pokémon. Start with a new spelling based on that pronunciation, let’s say “Pikump”; as for the typing, Poison seems good while the Glitch obviously needs to be replaced, I’m thinking Water for some reason.
Stats and moves, not so much. So, Pikump, Poison/Water type, start fresh from there.
I'm very late but the name combined with typing makes me think of some kind of infested/rotting driftwood, a kind of sudowudo moment where it's supposed to deceive you into thinking it's maybe grass/water but the driftwood isn't actually the pokemon, it's whatever has taken up home inside it

Also the music in your video's is loud enough for you to hear it but not loud enough for you to know it's music so I hear it and thing where did that sound come from.
Would love to see a Hybrid Glitchmons video. Imagine a "Hybridmon" tier where Pokemon got moves the hybrid Glitchmon got, that's a fun concept.

I had the same thought. I also think legality would be an interesting factor to apply, pretty much just not letting you mix and match the movesets.
It would still be a change up, though. Say you come across a Magmar in PU: there could be a lot of strategy in making the opponent guess whether you’re using the normal Magmar moveset or the glitched male one.

Watching this gave me the idea of turning these glitchmon into actual pokemon. Like giving them a sprite and pokedex description that could match their type, stats, movepool, name, and color pallet. Maybe I'll try it sometime, or maybe someone's already done it.

Yellow Missingno is glitchy becuase it tries to load a invalid sound bank.Patching it out actually allows you to teach a glitch move to one of your pokemons.ZZAZZGlitch has a clip about this in his interesting observations series.

Pokemon yellow glitchmons in general are vastly more unstable than the RB glitchmons. They're very likely to cause immense game breaking glitches just by running into them, like ♀ corrupting the sound data and screaming at you for eternity.
Also those colored box glitchmons? Like ♀ and CA? Yeah those boxes bleed into the menu and make it impossible to see your prompts. Though X ゥ- xゥ has a similar effect in making your menu PURPLE. X ゥ- xゥ is an alright lad!

The fact that the glitchmon called CA happens to be a poison type is absolutely hilarious
The fact that Gen 1 functions as a video game without falling apart entirely absolutely astounds me, I honestly gotta respect Game Freak for somehow keeping the biggest pile of code spaghetti I've ever seen look just fine on the base level AND being compatible with Yellow after everything was reindexed for the new content Yellow added. Changing stuff in these games and not having them fling themselves into the sea is easier than I anticipated

17:00 It's pretty how the glitchmon with the strongest STAB Explosion (?) ends up basically wanting to die anyway given the physical stats it was cursed with. Funny coincidence given the sheer randomness of these things. (Reminds of Lickilicky in a way, that sack of disappointment.)

--- MY PREDICTIONS FOR A GLITCHMONS META THAT WILL PROBABLY NEVER HAPPEN ---
We yet again would have the Big 3. The Big 3 would be 4 89 4, C1, and DC. DC would be a massive threat upon setting Swords Dance, becoming potentially unkillable. C1 is faster than P, so C1 is more valuable, but both are usable if you want two bulky physical destroyers. 94 would be a nice option for another Normal/Ghost stat stick.
The Tauros of RBY OU would be 4 89 4. It's less bulky than C1 and P but since it's Normal/Ghost can switch into Hi Jump Kicks and Body Slams and since it is faster than both it doesn't get trapped by their Clamp, threatening to use Swords Dance and start killing everything that dares to face it.
F2 is yet another stat-stick. I think you would want to take advantage of the special movepool it gets as the physical damage would be prevalent and special damage would be therefore more sought-after to take down things like M p'u. even if it gets Swords Dance. EC gets Swords Dance as well and I feel like you would want to use it this time.
X x is to HI what C1 is to P. That said, they are stat sticks comparable to F2, so definitely usable.
3TrainerPoké$ is tempting but I feel like the slowness making it vulnerable to Clamp and lack of HP would make it worse compared to what we saw above. Still, can be a strategic pick to get extra damage on Pokémon without partial trapping.
M p'u is a physical wall that would see use since the three best Pokémon in the tier are physical menaces.
Woman would be a variant of EC. Maybe even better.
.g is a hard-counter to M p'u. Outspeeds and very probably one-shots with that huge special.
No other glitchmon would be usable because I feel like they would be outclassed. A is a worse M p'u, but I think it's better than 'M.
DE would be decent in a lower power tier.
4(h4? is the decrepit cousin of 'M.
'v is useful but too frail for the power level.
F4 is really fast and could probably chip away some health to ease the job of late game.
Triangle would be literally an Explosion click. Might be more impactful than anything else below this.
D9 is a better P4$? P4$ is a better F5. F5 would be a better Missingno. Red/Blue I feel like. Missingno. Red/Blue is rather bad, which makes all three fundamentally flawed.
4 4 is a defensive alternative to P4$, if for some reason you would want it.
8P is a worse Missingno. Red/Blue.
9 is the special attacker ever.
E3 is better than 4h and C? I guess? Still garbage.
4h at least can pray for a freeze.
C is utterly useless, as are r' r' 4, CA and Missingno. Yellow.
If you use 6 pPkMnp' ' and manage to kill one Pokémon on the opponent team you are a Chad.

I like the idea until you get to 4 4. That thing truly is the Lovecraftian horror of glitchmons due it's massive 256×256 pixel size! You can make it stable as ChickasaurusGL demonstrated 5 years ago I think. It's real cry is a single channel of the move Surf
@@Kali_Krause Yeah... I mean, one of the reasons some glitchmons crash games is because the game can't handle their sprites. 256x256 is huge for the GameBoy. That said, cries like that are quite common among glitchmons. Some glitchmons have like pitched up versions of attacks or entire songs as cries.
