As a Chiefs fan honestly had no idea who Mahomes was when the Chiefs drafted him. I watched College football but did not see many big 12 games. But this is the best draft pick ever made by the Chiefs and even more after what Mahomes has done with the Chiefs and even more so with the trouble Watson has been in.
Anyone who actually watched Mahomes at Texas Tech knew he was special and on a path to change the game of football. People loved to say "it won't translate in the NFL." People said he was wreckless and was all arm. No one talked about his athleticism, his vision, or his IQ; none of which was hidden. This is what happens when you spend all of your time and effort comparing someone to history rather than simply taking a moment to watch and trust what your eyes are telling you.
The #1 pick in the 2018 draft knew he didn't have a chance to unseat Mahomes so transferred to OU.

I knew he was gonna be drafted early. I as a chiefs fan was praying that we would draft him. For three weeks this was the guy I wanted. That draft I was working security for the Chiefs. And I was as excited as it got. I was calling him the next Favre/Marino

As a Kansas State grad and fan watching Mahomes roast most teams on a weekly basis, I am not at all surprised at what he's doing.

I’m just going to sit here on my lawn chair, drink my beer, and laugh at everyone who said Patrick Mahomes couldn’t make it. Cause I’m not even a Texas tech fan and I was right since his first snap played.
A lot of teams go for quarterbacks that are athletic and often ignore those with a quick release. Marino, Brady and now Mahomes are the fastest releases ever.

Chiefs CBs aren't actually that bad, although they certainly aren't that good either. The part of that defense that is horrendous in the ILBs and the safety play, although Lucas has actually looked good the last two weeks.
