    What I love abot the MKII is how it's movable frame was a breakthrough in the technology in mobile suits. When the AEUG stole all three, the zeta project became a complete success after the failure of the delta gundam. After reverse engineering it's data the AEUG now had mobile suits to keep up with the amount of prototypes the titans was coughing up and the zeta gundam being a transformable mobile suit was made possible thanks to the MKII.

    To me it was always one simple thing, not unlike what happens in the real world with certains car preparators :
    They take a base machine, either a car or here the Gundam, made a lot of improvements under the hood, a bit of tuning, and slaps their own logos on it (Think Ruf, Alpina, or the firsts AMG...)
    So, very like the second theory but even going crazier... Which would also explain how, during ZZ, it was still pertinent, even while GMIII were already in use, even though they were supposed to be at an equivalent performance level

    Interesting answers, but it doesn't explain how Kamille's parents fit into the Gundam Mk-II development story. Remember that as per the opening episodes of Zeta Gundam, Franklin Bidan is supposed to have been instrumental in the development of the movable frame, while his wife (Kamille's mother, I forget her first name) was a materials scientist whose work contributed to the Mk-II's (outdated) armor. Both were easily made hostage by the Titans because both were Federation employees.

      The dark blue makes more sense. Not because the Titans were the bad guys, but because the RX-78-2's color scheme and the AEUG's Mk-II color scheme are more likely to attract attention on the battlefield and easier to target in certain terrains. Given how poor LEO gets memed on relentlessly, how about some questions about the LEO:
    1. What major factors would you consider to be why the LEO performed so poorly? (can be in-universe or in terms of writing, such as unwillingness to upgrade the LEO)
    2. How well would it have performed against other grunt suits in other timelines? (UC,CE, etc.)
    3. What will be needed for the LEO to lose its negative reputation?
    Bonus question: if a character in a new build-fighters/divers anime were to have an LEO as their gunpla of choice and you were tasked with designing it, how would you design the ultimate LEO?

      I have the answer and only answer for #1.
      #1. Plot. It was a magnificent machine, in the hands of a pilot with P.L.O.T. (Piloting Limit-Over Tactics) armor and weapons. But against P.L.O.T. weapons and armor, they crumbled like paper. That has always been one of Wing's shortcomings. Everything is made to look weak whenever it is needed to... But suddenly when the plot needs it to be, the pilot gains P.L.O.T. armor and weapons. Very inconsistent. P.L.O.T. is even required to even master the Z.E.R.O. (Zoning & Emotional Range Omitted) System. Anybody without it goes crazy.

      1.) The Leo was, essentially, an obsolete suit with several competing replacements that were beginning production at the time. It was planned to be phased out to replace with one of if not several other suits within a couple years...the fact that the Leo was already an aging mobile suit combined with the planned replacement was also a reason for why Operation Meteor was planned for when it was since there were the far better suits that were going to enter mass production and the plan was to, well, wreck everything they could before the new suits were deployed.
      That's something mentioned in a few of the guide books for the series and, I believe, also mentioned during Episode Zero for the timing.
      However, the Leo had other major advantages which came about following the wars when slightly upgraded versions continued production in the civilian market since it's ease of maintenance and modification combined with simplicity of use made it a dedicated worker machine in a lot of places across the MF, PPP, and ESUN decades later
      2.) I'm pretty sure it would do decently against most of them save, perhaps, IBO or some of the mid-later IBO, though might have issues due to size differences. Especially with the various kit pieces of it's different types or some of the other variants to it.
      3.) Have something set earlier in the timeline for it, as it is, the setup is basically a F-14 trying to keep up with F-22s in a fight there, and even more advanced fighters with the upgraded Gundams. The exceptions being the specialty Leo variants such as in G-Unit that were, essentially, fully custom machines.
      Bonus: I'd start with the MO-V variant Leo and go from there with different gear for it, though I might go for the Leo V from Frozen Teardrop which could almost keep up with the Gundams or some of the other successor Leo and Leo based designs such as the Capricorn.

I wouldn't be surprised if in the end the majority of the systems were copied over and that the movable frame is just them taking the testing data from the test team and the gp series -plus according to the wiki the gp used a partial movable frame so it may be that they just looked and said lets put all the really essential stuff in the frame itself like the generator then put the rest on top of it so its easier to build and make it faster.

    @daitoray9876 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

    Something that I've always wondered about is if Amuro or the Federation was the true "owner" of the Rx-78-2 Gundam. This has to do with the fact that while the Rx-78-2 Gundam was labeled under "Federation property," Amuro was the only one who was allowed to use it. It also didn't help that Amuro's father was also the designer and creator of the famous Rx-78-2 Gundam that his son would go on to use. From what I've watched, the moment the Feds hand out a mobile suit, that mobile suit becomes their officially assigned unit and the pilot becomes the "owner" of the MS. If anyone else tried to borrow the mobile suit without permission, they could be court martialed and jailed for "thievery."
    The thing is, Amuro wasn't made to be the Gundam's official pilot until after he reached Jaburo, yet not only was he the only person on White Base to use the MS, but Sayla herself got jailed when she borrowed the Rx-78-2 and was nearly defeated because of it. This meant that anyone could be allowed to pilot the Rx-78-2 provided Bright allowed them to yet, Bright, for some reason didn't let anyone use it even though they had a pilot that was definitely more experienced that Amuro(I'm talking about Ryu). Even when several other members of WB volunteered or wanted to pilot the Gundam, Bright either turned them down or had to ask Amuro first.

    • @henryfleischer404
      @henryfleischer404 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Well, Ryu was a fighter pilot, not a mech pilot, and Bright was considering training other people on the Gundam, but never got around to it. Best I can tell, piloting a mech requires a certain mix of prexisting talent and training, and knowing how to use one does not translate well to another (see Fa in Gundam ZZ, she's an ace pilot but is useless in the Zeta Gundam [and in the Methuss, but I get the impression she prefers using guns, and the Methuss was a bit of a wreck]). But yeah it does look like, especially with prototypes and commander types, mechs are assigned to specific pilots.

    • @321guyver
      @321guyver 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      When Sayla used it, it was against Bright's orders and literally put the Gundam and the White Base in danger, whether Amuro let her or not. So naturally she would be in trouble. Remember in 0083 when Monsha and Kou "borrowed" their MS and fought? Both got locked up for a bit as well.
      As for Amuro and the Gundam... He was assigned to it by Bright since he seemed to naturally bring out the potential of the unit. His feats in only his first few missions proved he was the most capable for it. So it makes sense that he would be the assigned pilot, and only in dire circumstances would they ever sortie someone else in it. Doesn't matter if he was "officially" made the pilot or not by the Feddie commanders. Bright had the common sense to realize that if Amuro used the Gundam, they would stand the best chance.
      Don't get me wrong, him being the protagonist of the series plot certainly didn't hurt... But in survival terms, he was always the best choice at pretty much any given time.

    My belief is that the Mark II was indeed built exclusively by the Federation and the Titans likely incorporating a lot of know how and technical knowledge gleaned from previous Anaheim mobile suits. But since the Mark II was meant to be a symbol of the Titans strength and purity from spacenoids, they refused to involve Anaheim directly. After the AEUG stole the Gundams and gave them to Anaheim it’s likely that Anaheim heavily overhauled them which is why the one unit was still effective even in the entire next war and because of the heroics of the Mark II by the AEUG, its likely they’d want to put their name on it for the credit and publicity.

    Your personal theory is, funny enough, also what I've always thought -- but with a detail missing: The Gerbera Tetra was, from what I've uncovered (and this may be inaccurate; I don't have canon sources to back me up), originally intended to be the RX-78-GP04 Gundam Gerbera, but when the Gundam Development Project was cancelled and Jamitov had Adm. Kowen arrested (more hat, please), it was scrapped, hence why AE was more than happy to give the GP04-turned Gerbera Tetra to Cima Garahau. Another interesting piece of information is that the word tetra means four, sooooo... GP04 confirmed? Still need more conspiracy hat on this. Pls send halp, need video on GDP/GP04/GT.

      It's GNX IX no question will win. The ultimate grunt MS of 00 + the one thing that gives it the best leg over all others able to Trans Am. That last bit alone tops all others. No need for low number pilots for fancy systems or systems that can destroy u. Anybody can use Trans AM so that gives it a huge plus side. Just a huge performance enhancer when activated that can push it towards or abrove a avg Gundam performance puts it for alot people including me choice this MP MS as the best MP MS.
      This MS will probably be the easy winner.

    With the newest announcement of the HGUC Psycho Gundam Mk. II, after we just got the HGCE Destroy Gundam, and amidst a good amount of large scale HG gunpla we've gotten in recent years
    What do you think would be the next logical big HG gunpla and/or which one are you wishing for the most??

    Your theory about the prototype Gundam MK-II being a scapegoat aligns with a theory I had about the Striker Custom. I think that the main reason the Striker Custom was built, was to cover up for the GP project. Because it was a GM Striker modified with Gundasm and prototype parts that was intentionally thrown into the public eye by giving it to the BGST. Like they wanted it to be noticed. They gave the Striker Custom to a pilot that was way too young, and made him the BGST commander out of nepotism. Though he was an excellent commander, he was extremely flashy in combat. And he was an extremely thorough investigator. Ergo the Federation used him and the Striker Custom as a distraction for the failed GP project coverup. I wonder if you could make a video specifically on the coverup of the GP project and what it influenced?

    There are two things that come to mind.
    1. The decals are just "flavor text" because Anaheim was playing both the AEUG and Titans and turning an enemy suit into a mobile billboard would've been bad for business with the Titans.
    2. By the time the Argama reached Ammon City, the Mark II had been in so many battles without specialized maintainence that Anaheim had to do an impromptu refit. It's not like the AEUG managed to steal spare parts from Gryps.

    Literally in the anime, Franklin Bidan(aka, the head engineer of the Gundam Mark II) was revealed to have been working with AE meaning that collaborated with AE to make the Gundam Mark II.
    The Titans themselves, rarely had the ability to develop a fully combat mobile suits without the aid of AE. This meant that everything about the Mark II was made by AE just like some of their other machines. Except, with this machine, they decided to peel off AE's own labels and slap their own on them. They also didn't patent the machine before it was stolen by the AEUG. Fortunately(or rather unfortunately if you're on the Titans side), all the machines were stolen before the Titans could add their own label to the machine and "claim" it to be their own. In other words, the Titans literally tried to steal credit from AE for the Gundam Mark II's design and combat strength.
    Since Franklin, the original designer, was killed(not MIA like Amuro's father) when the Gundam Mark II was stolen before its design was patented by either Franklin Bidan, the Titans or AE, this meant that the machine's title of true owner and maker was quite literally up for grabs by anyone who had the Mark II. Since it was the AEUG that had it, this meant that they could've literally stamped "Original Property and design of the AEUG" on it without any issues. Additionally, the Titans were the only ones capable enough to take on the AEUG and steal back their machines. AE literally had no way to prove they were the original designers of the Mark II as Franklin was the one who had all the designs and since the Mark II blueprints weren't taken out of the machine, acquiring the machine meant acquiring ownership.
    By shear luck, Quatro and the AUEG were nice enough to go to AE and hand the three stolen Mark IIs over so they could take credit for the machines they worked so hard to make.

    • @arx3516
      @arx3516 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      At that time AEUG was considered a terrorist organization, so they couldn't patent anything. But i think that the Titans contracted Anaheim to make the Mk-2 payng them under the table to keep it secret and let them take all the credit. I also agree with Kakarot's conspiracy theory, the Mk-2 was inferior to the GP series because it was built with a small fraction of the official budget.

    My view: considering that the Mk-IIs suffered some damage even before the one Kamille used got its new paint job, it's likely that while it used its original Titans-made equipment at the start, AEUG very quickly had to request new replacement parts and equipment from Anaheim, considering they had the other two machine to copy from.
    So while it would technically still have some of the original markings on original parts, it was slowly replaced by Anaheim made parts over the course of its service in the Gryps War.

    How does the Nemo perform so awfully in Zeta Gundam, despite combining designs from the GM sniper II (arguably the best mass production MS of the entire OYW), the Rick Dias (The AEUGs cutting edge ace suit, whose design can be traced back to the GPo2), and Hyaku Shiki development data, (which itself uses data from the Gundam Mk II)?
    With that design lineage the Nemo should blow every other mass production suit out of the water, yet it doesn't even match up to the Rick Dias it's partially based on, which itself is also a mass production suit, and was designed without access to data on the Gundam Mk II.

    Question I would like to see addressed in a video:
    We know Newtypes can instantly fall in love with each other because of a deep psychic connection that lets them know the other person extremely intimately, for example Kamille and Four. We also know that strong Newtypes can deliberately manipulate and brainwash people by making them fall in love, because Paptimus Scirocco did it to multiple women, even making a certain AEUG officer switch sides and almost completely abandon her former ideals just for the chance to get close to him.
    Did Quess Paraya have a similar ability, but she was unaware of it and used it subconsciously? Both Hathaway and Gyunei fall in love with her immediately upon meeting her and become obsessed with her, and a random guy who sees her go by with Char asks if she's single and available for a date (despite being a grown man and her being THIRTEEN). The only people she actively crushes on are Amuro, who brushes her off, and Char, who uses her crush to manipulate her. Both are powerful Newtypes and maybe be able to ignore her brainwashing/love obsession ability. I can totally buy Quess having the same power to make people fall for her that Paptimus had, but being an annoying tween she was completely unaware of her power. If Quess hadn't been manipulated by Char and subsequently died, could she have become a villain on the same level as Paptimus Scirocco and Haman Karn? Or at least a Newtype just as powerful?

    Well, when you start to develop and build a MS from scratches, you don't spend the money to build it, you spend money in facilities, reserches, technology, patents and errors, a lot of errors.
    From what I know about this before coming up with the MK II they did try to restore an old RX-78, probably the G-3 and make it the RX-78T, but some sorceress says that the build it up from scratches modifying a GM II, and others taht they did it with a GM Quel. Since we have illustrations of all of this version, my headcanon is that they made all of those 3, plus they tested all of those backpacks and weapons on the Gm Quels and Hazels.
    So we can say that they spend all that money to acquire the know-how to priduce the prototype,not just to build it!

    I always figured Proto Mk-II / unit 0 was so bloody expensive because it's a stupidly high spec machine (though also very poorly balanced) because it kinda brute forces all the tech advancements of proper Mk-II but a fair bit earlier. Hell, in Ghiren's Greed where it's originally from it's not even a necessary step in Mk-II development. More of a teaser of sorts for what a second generation (kinda) suit will be capable of. Just prohibitively expensive.
    I do like the fund hiding idea though, even if I suspect GP project was worth a fair share more than 3 Pegasus class ships. After all leftovers from it were a major source of funding for the TR Plan.

    I wouldn't be surprised if Franklin Bidan lifted significant elements for the Mk.II project from AE designs in the first place, sufficient for AE to declare the Mk.II is technically "theirs" in an intellectual property kind of way.
    Granted, knowing companies like AE in real life, they'd probably try the same with Scirocco's weirdass designs if given half the chance.
