    I have a 07 one as a track bike, is a killer in corners, but will need modifications if your a big guy like me to catch ppl on straights, but good highway use

    Got a 2013, switching to full synthetic oil did a lot for switching gears (smoother, doesn't pop out quite as often). Gear indicator, got one of those nice aftermarket ones. Finish - don't know about the ones before 2013, the 2013 is nice enough, I guess, the matt black one I got is still fine (got extra wax for it, though, and it doesn't stay outside). Fuel indicator they got covered now, that is pretty neat. Same goes with the rattling etc...
    So, got your version back in riding school, was a great ride. But they really stayed on it and improved the ER-6 a lot :-)

      +Meik Niessing great to know Meik. The newer models definitely look like a better finish that's for sure and the fuel indicator is a big help too. Been tempted to try out one of the new Z650s as they look like a great bike

    Hi Mate
    Thumbs up for the way you put your videos together!
    I have the 2006 er6f model and I'm pretty sold on the DELKEVIC can that you installed. Are you still happy with it? Also - where did you get that rear wheel hugger? I've done a fair bit to mine (including replacing the motor) and other much cheaper mods. I really enjoy my bike and commute mainly but also go on longer rides. I'm planning on keeping mine for a few more years...
    Cheers from Australia.

      +matthew johnson hey mate! If you're still running the stock pipe then yeah I would recommend the delkevic as basically the best cheapish mod you can do. You lose a little torque with the baffle out, but feels like more top end. Or you can leave the baffle in. But, for the money, the sound is epic! Completely changed my enjoyment of riding the bike, and have also noticed fewer people pulling out of junctions on me.
      Hugger is from pyramid plastics but I can recommend it. It was £80 and it's split in a bunch of places after only 6 months on the bike so I'm gonna have to take it off. It's also rubbed paint off the swingarm in a few places. Not a good purchase, although it does keep the underside of the bike a bit cleaner!

    en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Straight-twin_engine
    You noticed this bike sounds a bit like a tractor. I think the ER6N engine is a 180 degrees straight twin. Bikers, please correct me if it's not. But if it is, that explains a lot.
    Every engine design sounds (and rides) different. It's about number and size of cylinders, compression ratio, air filters, exaust pipes and a bit more, resulting in "engine character". There must be more than ten reasons to love the ER6N.

    Built to a price, I guess, but never the less probably a great little allrounder , better than walking or catching the bus , and a lot cheaper to run than a car , cheers Shane uk

  • @RT22-pb2pp
    @RT22-pb2pp 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thanks I am in the market and you hit on the stuff I was looking for before buying. I think I can fix all of the issues you brought up, and they are mostly what I have read about the 650. I also agree inline twins sound like crap to me, I am going to try and fix that with a custom built pipe not a off the shelf one, like everyone has. My idea is to change it for looks, sound, and if I can keep power the same I will be happy. I hate the under bike pipes, I like seeing the exhaust. My idea is to remove muffler box crap leaving just the head pipes. I then am going to have a extension pipe made and bent to let it exit from bottom and curve up like they do on most inline fours from early 2000's. I want pipe to run up like the 4 int 1 pipes on most inline 4 sportbikes. After getting pipe made to exit and run up at an angle to put it next to swing arm like most sports bike.
    I then am going to get a supertrapp slip on like my old ninja 600 had. Brushed aluminum can, with the adjustable plates at end for tuning sound and back pressure. The tip will be mounted so as to run right up where passenger peg is. I am removing peg brackets and doing rearsets and doing away with passenger pegs all together. I want to put the slip on the pipe and mount it with a brace run up to frame. Using the removble plates I want to keep it fairly quiet as inline twins sound like crap open and loud. By putting just enough plates on tip it will improve flow for power and not so many as to be too loud. Stock like, is better to me, as inline twins just do not have deep sound that is good like a V twin. So I want as little noise, but not like most pipes that are loud and make that dirt bike sound thump. If quiet it does not sound like those honda civics kids put those big tips on, that are loud, but sound like a hole in the muffler, not a good sound. I know inline twins just do not make sweet music, like an inline four, with full header system So by keeping it quiet I think is best for not annoying myself LOL. Plus now i can see the muffler, and to me that is how it should be, the exhaust is part of the look of a bike. I hope to end up with what looks like the standard exhaust found on most sport bikes from just a few years ago. I like that look, and by tuning the plates, the noise and back pressure can be adjusted for good performanc and good sound hopefully. it will still be a inline twin thump thump but hopefully quiet enough to sound okay but loud enough to hear at speed.

      This is link to the type of tip I want to graph onto the modified pipe extesionthat I want to run out and up side of bike. www.ebay.com/bhp/supertrapp This will be a 2 into one with tip at like 45 degree angle mounted beside swing arm like most older sportbikes looked.

    My frames rusting too, paint just chips right off.

    • @motobob
      @motobob  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +MechRider89 pretty frustrating! I'm riding through the British winter every day and there's so much salt on the roads at the moment. I wish I had more time to keep it clean so I could prolong the life of the paint, but ultimately I bought it to use it, not something to look at. Otherwise I absolutely love it though. I didn't think I would want to put a loud pipe on it but I gave it a try anyway and I think it's the best upgrade on the bike by far. So much fun to ride!

    • @MechRider89
      @MechRider89 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've thankfully never had to ride in salt yet, but the rain does the paint no favours either. I bought my bike to use it as well, first year I bought it I put 15000 km on it with it raining damn near every day. Insurance on motorcycles over 400CC has sky rocketed here tho. I used to pay $160/month when I first got my bike now tho its $280/month and I even have a clean record.
      You should check out this video: watch?v=TPKPCIaA0Pg&t=211s
      Only really good exhaust I've found for our bikes.

    • @motobob
      @motobob  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +MechRider89 that's crazy. Why is it so expensive? I pay about £120 a month which is still expensive given that I paid £1900 for the bike. Theft is out of control in London tho which is pushing insurance price up. I'll watch the vid when I get chance!

    • @britishskater54
      @britishskater54 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      MOTOBOB hi, did you find the round headlight helped the front end at all? I’ve got an er-6f and I’m debating stripping the fairings and sticking s single round lamp on.

    • @motobob
      @motobob  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I didn’t fit it - the guy who bought it off me did. I don’t think it looks any better tho. The whole bike doesn’t really suit the round headlight because it’s all angular
