Predict a new housing development coming there soon.
Thank you for adding to the discussion and reminding that the Foreshore and Westmoorings were also reclaimed land. I have subsequently learned that this is a Udecott project.
@@pointboy12 Of course, that's not to say that I agree with what they are doing. It seems that every time that the mangrove stabilizes, someone comes and moves the coastline further out.
@@edwardkacal2616 Makes you wonder, why do that - especially looking at it now - if that was all the land they actually reclaimed? Then they apparently do it again..... They are destroying the mangroves and many organsims to put up more unnecessary corporate infrastructure.
dude u sound tiger he's a trini singer from the 60's he has a lot of hits .. great vid by the way
Thanks for the compliment on the video and voice. I did not know about a singer called Tiger in the 1960. I do know there was a calypsonian called Growling Tiger but I think he was before 1960.

That is why Woodbrook will have more flooding because there is no place for the water to run off and be absorbed ,😢
That was a wet land and swamp area with birds and some animals. Its state lands. Which Gov't division authorised its backfilling, clearing and to whose bnefit.
You have asked a question that I cannot answer.
Winds of Change bro! Money talks... Natural Environment suffers!
I am not sure who is responsible for filling the land, however I believe it is Government using UDECOTT.
That's why we have an EMA and not an EPA...We are allowed to pay to pollute
Thank you!!!
You are welcome
Back when they first started development, the area of Woodbrook started flooding, and now it will be worse.
Is that land reclaimed from the sea?
No it is not reclaimed land but it has been back filled.
I believe that whole area was reclaimed land fill even before movie town was built. They now paved access road, probally prepping for who knows what.
Where the port is located was reclaimed land but this portion was mangrove originally.
@@pointboy12 yes it was mangrove before they destroyed the mangrove and filled that entire area. I was working flour mills at the time.
I remember when they pulled out the mangrove trees from the area behind what used to a fish market in that area. I believe they claimed the trees would be replanted in another mangrove. But I drove pass every day and saw the uprooted trees on the ground slowly withering away. They were never replanted. I believe the fish market had to close down. I wonder what happened to all those fishermen?
@@Ninja_St I didn't know there was a fish market in that area.
If memory serves - it was not exactly where Movietowne is. It was in the area but closer to Peake's.
@@Ninja_St well there is a fish market next to Peake's.
The last time we drove in the back there about a month ago, we were followed by a security van.
@@Tina_Bo_Binaaa well then you safe while you there.
Very sad. The greed, ignorance and blatant disrespect for the good of our country always amazes me!
Courtesy, your PNM government.
This is so sad. The crazy thing about it is Trinidad is NOT an overpopulated country, therefore, we have no need to destroy nature habitats like these mangroves to put up housing/accommodation, but as you said - the derwk chin vision of the world. The even sadder part is this was done on the hush, because citizens would have kicked a fuss for sure regarding the environmental impact. I would NOT be shocked if this is the work of very wealthy individuals, who finances well to the point they can get ALL approvals from all governing authoritities without an eyelash being batted against it. This is really saddening. Thank you SO MUCH for elightening us with this.
That's the 1 per cent taking over Trinidad
Actually No. This is a Government project being done by UDECOTT.
@@pointboy12I’m glad you corrected Anthony and nothing is wrong with development if planned properly. Not everything is politics and nepotism.
@@madridfan2007 that is true
Mr. Chen is a Chinese from Guyana. He has nothing to do with 1 porcent.
Such a pity that bird habitat is no longer. The swap you mentioned and the trees all gone😢
It would have been nice if they kept a few more trees.
Yes we agree the sea will take.back it's own. The almighty God is alive and sees and knows everything.
Well done 😊
Thank you
Enjoy this video sea breath taking thats a lot of of land

More space for hurricane to pass through with nothing to stop it. I guess they are probably creating a Trinidad Miami. The question is , who or what will be occupying those spaces. God come down and save us.🙏🕊✝️🥳
That is an interesting question. I believe a variety of businesses will want to operate there.

Who is the owner is such huge vast extensive lands
@@JenniferDehere The land is owned by the Government and the project is being done by Udecott.
i wished they had used some of that land to extend the port, its getting very cramped and the tobago ferry terminal is getting worse everytime i see it .
I agree, putting the ferry service there would be a good idea.
The port is to be relocated offshore the land from invaders Bay to the Hyatt will be reserved for mixed use, multistory housing, commercial, entertainment, administrative and hotel purposes.
@pointboy12 the ferry is to be relocated there as per last strategic plan, along with a marina.
@@dalehinds I did not realize they planned to go offshore with the port.
@@dalehinds I saw that they planned to put a marina there but didn't know they planned to put the ferry port there.
This is the Invaders bay development project, its a UDECOTT project.
Yes, I subsequently found out.
I remember seeing a video a few years ago, that Mr. Chin was making a "park" with all sorts of atttactions; haven't heard or seen anything since about it and I thought maybe it was all in my " imagination" or a dream.
So maybe this is it.
Mr Chin has created the park, it is at the side of Movietowne next to Marriott. The cleared land is a different parcel.
This is unbelievable that this could continue to take place...l am asking what happens to the sea front? Who will inherit the sea front...ls it going to be the people of Trinidad and Tobago? Or the developers who are claiming this property?
What was the argument in place for this? As l remember our first prime minister said the sea front and beaches belongs to the people of Trinidad and Tobago...l am asking again is that still so?
I have subsequently learned that this is a Government project being done by Udecott.
@@pointboy12 Thanks much for your response...but as usual a government that does not informed us of what is going on... everything is a big secret.
There is a big sing out front we're it states what development is taking place

You are correct.
I am just as curious,so I will want to see all there is to see.

Yes it is Udecott
A nice mixture of entertainment, hotels restaurants and multipurpose buildings. Extension of the city.would be nice. To boost tourism!
