    The editing here of including shots of the game in the midst of the discussion portion is great and very welcome!

    Id love to see a "top ten table gerbel" list from you guys. Games that have a lot of game in a small space but dont feel cramped.

    Great new series! More Rewind videos please. Cult of the kickstarter is dragging us down.

      Zee did the original Rewind on the Lord of the Rings LCG. I liked his approach to looking at a new edition of a game that's been around a while, so I thought I'd do that here. Glad you enjoyed!

    This game got its start as the winner of a BGG print-and-play contest. Really good game, and I’m proud to own a copy that was handcrafted by the designer during its PnP days!

    Maquis and Black Sonata are both great solo games.

    Chris, I agree that this is an excellent game. That production quality, and the ease of getting it played, make me very glad I own it!
    Also, I want to encourage more of these "REWIND" videos. Just because there are so many games coming out all the time (some great, some not so great) doesn't mean we should completely forget about some classic older games that are still fun to play. Thanks!

    Anyone will get a lot of play out of that small box. It's really quite a nice package, both from a production standpoint and from the variety of content.

    Great review love to see older games get the recognition they deserve. Keep producing the Rewind video's!!!

    So happy to see Maquis get some fresh love! It’s my favorite solo game. So thematic - the first time I played I was sweating - the tension was real. This is certainly a classic 👍

    I printed my own copy of BGG years ago and then bought the second edition during crowd funding. The production is top notch for small solo game. Chris is exactly right, I come back to this game every few months and enjoy the worker placement challenge.
    Just don’t try to jump straight to your objective cards without covering your safe house return or knowing the patrols won’t be back before shuffling. Thanks Chris!!

    I love the graphic design and art for the game! And I like the interchangeable rooms. I like small box games and games that don’t take up so much table space. I’m planning on avoiding games with huge boards since they just stress me out. I don’t agree that it shows its age. I got it from the Kickstarter and I didn’t know it was an old game.

    Second edition was a Kick Starter and they added the 3 star missions at that point. I backed the KS and have loved it.

    Chris, since I know you’re a Red Letter Media fan, I would LOVE the board game equivalent of their Re: Wind series, with more relaxed, but in-depth discussions of an older game, like this one! You put the idea in my head by calling this a Dice Tower Rewind 😂 I can hear the intro music already
    Great review, by the way! I just downloaded the app :)

    • @DTChrisYi
      @DTChrisYi ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks! I do enjoy the idea. Zee had done a video on the Lord of the Rings LCG and called it a Rewind as he had played the game several different times before, so I thought it would fit here too. Maybe a few more of these will come up as a game fits.

    • @salmonblox

      @@DTChrisYi and I went and called it the wrong name, the series is definitely called Re: View, not Re: Wind, and now I look like a poser. Or a hack fraud, as it were :/
      but yeah! I would enjoy hearing not just about the game itself, but the effect it had on you guys playing. Tom has touched on this with his old series of Games That Defined Me or whatever it was called, but there’s a lot to be mined there! Thanks again!

      @@salmonblox Haha, I didn't want to correct you, I knew what you meant. When Zee designed the new thumbnail template, I thought it was interesting that he went for a style that kind of separated Re from View. It always reminded me of the RLM a show a bit. It would be cool to explore that idea. I'll let it percolate a bit!

    • @DTChrisYi

      Also, thinking about it, if you want a bit of a laid-back conversation about an older game, Wendy and I did a video called "A Pile of Pandemic" where we looked at every Pandemic base game that's come out. It's pretty close to what you mentioned.

    • @salmonblox
      @salmonblox ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DTChrisYi Yes, I enjoyed that video a lot! It also came at just the right time, when I was feeling overwhelmed by the amount of Pandemics and needed to sort them out.
      I also enjoyed your video on Dated, that terrible party game. I appreciate the alternate takes on the standard review format, so kudos!
      I loved when RLM created Re:View, and it’s some of my favorite content of theirs, even though Mike hijacks it to discuss Star Trek all the time. But between Mike and Rich analyzing The Rocketeer as a superhero origin story, or Jim and Colin highlighting the Canadian-ness of Strange Brew, or Jay and Josh being arthouse nerds all the time, I think it’s some of the best film commentary out there, with how they ride the line between laid back and actually informed and passionate.
      I do think the new way you guys divvy up the reviews now is a good step though, it makes for a similar matchup of personalities to discuss the thing in question.
      Enough rambling from me! Thanks for all the content!

    I have the original copy of this game. Production values are really good. Though sometimes it's hard to open the linen finish box. I give it an 8. I like that it is so quick it's ok to lose (and I lose a lot in this game). Very nice small box game.

    The android app was less than two bucks for the full version. In a world of $5+ games it's an absolute steal. :) The physical copy was an instant buy after playing the game a bit and seeing this review. It looks like such a good high quality small solo game!

    I think "table mouse" might suggest a smaller footprint. However if you are staying with a pig motif, how about "table piglet"?

    I understand this one is a solo game. I really like the idea of solo games. However. Is this a game that I could sit down and play with my wife and make decisions together? Or is there not enough there to do that with?

    • @DTChrisYi

      I could see that working for some couples/teams of players, but part of what makes this one work so well is that each action is pretty quick and can be parsed quickly in your own mind. Discussing it as a team would slow down pretty quick decisions. If anything else, maybe download the free app and give it a whirl.
