spondylolysis is the result of advanced degenerative disc diseases it's a condition that desks degenerate and result resulting from the loss of this kite this condition causing instability and one vertebra to sleep forward over another one below it.
Another cause of spondylolisthesis would be a stress fracture or congenital abnormalities there are some rare cases such as tumor and trauma degenerative spondylolisthesis is a consequence of the aging process in which the bone joints and the ligaments in the spine grow weakened and become less able to maintain the alignment of the spine.
This type of spondylolisthesis typically occurs at one of two levels of lumbar spine l3l4 or l4 l5 which is the most common one degenerative spondylolisthesis is more common in people over the age of 50 and in particular among individuals over age 65.

I had a skiing accident when I was 14 and fractured 3 lower vertebrae. When I was 17 I was diagnosed with spondylolesthesis while going to follow up doctors for pain. Didn't get the surgery and life went on. A week ago I injured my lower back enough to go to urgent care. They said it was a sprain just gave me meds and sent me along. yesterday I told my Gf that I had been diagnosed with this and I wondered if it had flared up if possible. I check TH-cam this morning and saw this and almost spot out my coffee. I couldn't believe y'all were talking about it! Thank you so much and thanks to God

If I be honest, posture is not as important as people usually think !! We all have different body types, sizes. There is not much correlation between posture and pain !! That’s why I suggest everyone to do some sort of resistance training and stay strong. That gives them strenght & resilience. 💪

Another thing, most of us that have this (especially older folks) cannot get on the floor easily, much less get back up!😳😂 So what my doctor has me do is to stand with my back flat against the wall but feet abt a foot away from the baseboard. Feet should be a little further than shoulder width apart. Put ur arms up above your head (all the way up) & then slowly bend forward & try to touch the floor with your hands. Just go as far down as you can without pain. If you can reach the floor, walk your hands out a few spaces & then walk your hands back & raise up slowly with arms still up high & flat against the wall again except for feet. Do this as many times as you can. This exercise really helps alot with the lower stenosis pain in the spine & hips. That's where all my pain from this is concentrated anyway. Tens unit helps with this also & so does certain blue emu products. I use one called "Blue Stop". Amazing stuff!

@@bobthephysio stand with back against the wall & hands high above head. Lean forward. Feet will need to come out some & apart. The idea is to use the wall to stretch lower back out. When leaning forward buttocks need to stay against the wall as your stretching forward & down. Hopefully this makes more sense? Sry abt that.

Even though I have spondylitis & antorlosthesis I still go to the gym. I just had a very bad case of sciatica where I wasn't able to walk or stand. It has subsided some now but back is still sore. I already do most of these stretches and have been for several months. Three physio therapist & chiro could not help me. I'm in the gym on a regular basis & try to walk every day for 40 minutes. Also use tens machine daily with heat. Is it ok to do deadlifts, squats, v square & hack squats with this condition

Using the towel on the tilt exercise….wouldn’t it offer more resistance if the towel were on top of pelvis? I don’t understand if the towel is under….I’ve been diagnosed w/spondylolisthesis for almost a year….it is stable but still experience lightening pain flashes and have to be ultra conservative and careful….I haven’t kayaked since and that was my favorite activity so heartbroken for that. Eating anti inflammatory and lost some weight to combat pain….was depressed but have accepted my situation….have to live with back issue in mind….

I was first diagnosed with Spondylolisthesis (L5-S1) 25 years ago. Physio and then an osteopath has kept me within a tolerable pain range. The exercises you show have been part of my life for a long time. I've now got to the stage however where despite exercise the pain is constant and worsening in my back and legs. My life is severely restricted and pain meds give no relief. My osteopath ordered an upright lateral x-ray to check on progession which showed my spondy. My NHS doc ordered a supine (lying on my back) MRI which I suspect will show very little because I often have significant clunking when lying on a hard surface- this happened when lying down for the MRI and I did query the efficacy of this beforehand. I suspect my spondy is mobile and my NHS doc will claim no problem found. Any recommendations apart from taking my x-ray to annoy him with after his big reveal?

But as a human we are adaptable and what ever you do your body become 🙂 I can understand you do consern about your scoliosis and DDD but you can still stay active relatively. Suprisingly, what current evidence shows; the prevelince of back pain decline as we get older, that means the DDD is more like a skin renckles (the natural aging process) and its not actually a desiase. I help my patients with empowering them with gradual progress step by step and what I see in a daily basis ( every person has a chance to progress and get better) in most cases, you need to know where to start and how to progress it. Hi bob,
An year ago i lifted a weight and after 4 months got back pain and took MRI which says I got disc protrusion and grade1 spondylolisthesis . Now i have back pain till my calf muscle. One doc said the pain is due to disc protrusion( doc referred flexion and extension xray )
Another doc said pain is due to spondylolisthesis.
How to know due to which I’m getting back pain now.
    Please guide.
