Thanks to Rhyshero for letting me know. If you signup to Paymaya using a Globe number, you'll be issued a Visa card. If you signup using a Smart number, you'll be issued a Mastercard card. Both are accepted pretty much everywhere and act exactly the same.
Just to add some of my experience with paymaya that pertain to my concerns and answered by thier customer service to Gadget Addicts video: 1. Max amount you can load without upgrade is 50k, that goes up to 100k if you upgrade your account. 2. This is 50/100k is total amount that can be on the card or used in a given month, so if you spend 30k and have a balance of 20k this does not allow you to load another 20k until the next closing date. I was told this closing date (reset date) is on the 1st of every month. 3. I waited like 10 days to have a facebook interview to get my upgrade, it went ok, but still a bit of a cheezy way to do this and certainly should be done faster. 4. I spoke to customer services agent (who had to ask her supervisor about this) If i can have multiple paymaya accounts. Apparently you can, this means you can get more than 1 card increasing your purchasing power. The caveat is that you must register the new account with a new sim/cell number and email, but you may use the same name and other info used when making the account for your first card. 5. 7'11 Kiosk max load amount is 10k, i did not check if i can simply load 10k over and over at the kisosk to come to the 50k (or in my upgraded case) 100k limit. I will update here if i can, because its easiest way to load money and has no .05% fee as some other methods do but I personally need much more than 10k loaded on my card, perhaps this limit is for security purposes so the store doesn't get robbed, i dont know. I will update on this later, I also noticed these machines were down a couple times when I first tried to load money, and it effects all at the same time, not 1 particular 7'11. I think this load option is coming to mini-stop and Family-Mart in the near future. 6. If your an expat and want to upgrade to 100k limit you must provide passport, other US id's are not accepted. I now have 2 paymaya accounts because I use smart i have a virtual Mastercard, but when ordering my card and speaking with reps they will be sending me out a visa, they are all interlinked on each account so i guess all money is pulled from same place weather you use physical visa or mastercard. (still unclear or unconfident about some of the info the reps gave me). 7. I have a US paypal, and was able to create a philippines paypal today, i verified my paypal account with paypal using my virtual mastercard and everything went smoothly. As far as I know no limits (which paypal loves to hold your money for different reasons when you have a lot of funds passing threw it). The only limit i see on my account is the maximum I can widthdrawl to a paymaya credit card is 25k pesos a day. 8. I do like that within paymaya app it looks like i can buy my load at discounted price, and i can pay my meralco/skye cable bill within the app. This will save me time waiting in line at LBC. - Some concerns I have and might get answers to this some day are A: How much do I lose in conversion when i purchase from the US in dollars from my peso based paymaya card, this is probably not going to be a great deal for the buyer my guess is 2% or something but I that is just a guess. B: I have doubts that this card will offer the same buyer protection that you get with US or international credit cards. So if somebody gets your number, or card and cleans out your account I think your probably going to be SOL for recovering it, however visa/mastercard brand is on this card so there may be some recourse but I suspect it will be none existent or a pain in the butt to get back. Normally i can just call Amex/Visa and tell them i didn't make this charge and they will remove it, that is why i dont make online purchases at most sites using a debit visa connected to a bank account because those are more difficult to recover funds from and require a lot of legwork. It appears that even without connecting a bank account to paypal (which i do not like doing) is not an issue and I now have my US paypal and Philippines paypal accounts both verified. Thats all the info I have, hope it helps will update other things, i realize my info doesn't apply to most who just want a little money to purchase online but i run a business and need to pay people and expensive good so I need more cards and higher limits. I have used this card on netflix and freelancer websites and those worked fine...
A bit more fairly trouble free usage of my paymaya account. 1. I paid my Meralco and Sky cable bill. Meralco has an absurd 26 character reference number you must enter, but both payments went threw successfully and instantly notified me on my phone of the debit to my card. It appears to save account info when you pay threw the app so they pop to the top of the list. I like this. 2. I think you have to pay 2% when loading at certain places, not exactly sure what places charge this, but i think one of them is smart Padilla or something like that. Its most convenient to load at 7'11. I did so several times. The Cliqq machine at 7'11 (and mini-stop soon family mart) claims a 10k limit for loading money, so I tested this and loaded 10k then loaded 2.5k right after that and took both recipts to the cashier and they loaded my card. So im not exactly sure if there is a limit (aside from the limit on the card 50k/100k if upgraded) but 10k is not the limit. If you have a 100k account you may very well be able to simply use the machine and get 10 tickets of 10k each then pay the cashier. Annoying but still convenient sense 7'11 is everyplace. 3. A bit annoying that the Cliqq Machines are down about 75% of the time (or so it seems). They are constantly offline, this is not paymaya's fault. I have paid bills to USA, loaded my card from my philippine paypal and got my netflix, lazada going also with the card. I went to the ATM and had no problem getting money (Require 6 diget pinns) which kind goes agaist me using the same pinn for all my cards, but not a big deal. Took money out several times, no issues. Cliqq needs to get there shit together because all those connected to it are being hurt. I like that I can buy my load for my phone, been using those scratch off cards sense I got here, now I just buy it on my phone from the paymaya app and get 10% off the price to boot.
What I like about PayMaya is the undocumented feature where it allows MONEY TRANSFER without cost. EG: You pay a small fraction of money to a money remittance forwarder (LBC / Western Union) to send money to people like in cases like a.) buying for an item from an online merchant or b.) Nanay sending baon (Mom sending allownace) to Bunso (youngest). But with PayMaya, all Nanay has to do is walk up to any 7-11 branch and load Bunso's PayMaya account and the money will be INSTANTLY TRANSFERRED with no charges. Bunso doesn't even have to leave his dorm. I've used it before while selling an item and you can instantly see the money come in, the app updates your balance, and you get a text the same minute. Pretty handy.
Very good point. I know people having to pay extra every time to remit money via LBC to their family back in the province. Like you say, you can avoid those fees if they have a Paymaya account.
I was curious and I saw your video. I never would've guessed that I would find the answer in your TH-cam channel. Thank you, Gadget Addict! You're the best! :)
I have Paymaya and I have been using this for Lazada, Play Store, and Ebay. I did link to my Paypal just to order itme from Ebay. But I don't have card. I oy using to by item from online store which is very useful to me. It much more easy than Gcash.
THANK YOU SO MUCH. THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT I'VE BEEN SEARCHING ON THE INTERNET WHERE YOU CAN GET A CARD JUST BY LOADING IT AND USE IT TO ANYTHING THAT RELIES ON CARD PAYMENTS.
Great video on PayMaya. While I've informed my friends (for some reason or another do not have a credit cards) that they can use PayMaya to purchase cheap RC related stuff online, they've been hesistant to take my advice. Somehow, my answers don't seem to allay their concerns and questions. They would still trust brick and mortar shops even if it would cost twice as much and take them a good chunk of their time and gas money to commute. Half the time, they waste their effort when the item they want to purchase is not available. Ugh! Your video should allay their fears and get them to be less wasteful on their hard earned money.
I hope my video goes towards helping convert them :P Considering the 'walk out the door' warranty offered by most local stores, I really don't see the benefit in buying from a brick and mortar shop compared to online. And with traffic, parking, 'no stock', it can waste a whole day looking for some items. Keep up the fight, convert them haha!
Couple of questions. 1)If i was to load money onto my Paymaya account from a BDO account is there a charge to transfer funds? 2) You mentioned the ability to pay for items in a shop using the physical card, is there any fee when doing this? Or would recommend just paying in cash? 3) Do PayMaya offer any form of point system should you start to use their services (IE buying cellphone load, paying bills, etc.) 4) Upon applying for the physical card, how long does it usually take before you receive it in the mail? Appreciate any feedback on the above questions and always find value in your videos.
I've been using PayMaya for about 3 months now, mainly for loading my own number. That way, I don't have to pay the extra charges when loading at sari-sari stores. Also, if you're on Smart/TNT, there's a discount when loading. So yeah, you can also use it as a small business. PS. Thanks for following on Twitter! :D
You mean how to reload your Globe number? Just go to the Shop on PayMaya, under the eLoad tab, select your preferred Globe topup amount. Then, you can reload your own number, or send as gifts to others. :)
Great video. very thorough and informative. i hope paymaya will provide a link of this video on their website. took me a couple of hours of online research to set up my paymaya virtual card :)
Hi! I have a question, once you upgraded to physical card, is the credit card number still similar on the physical card with the one on the smartphone app? Thanks very much in advance!
Hi GA. Off topic. Regarding mmda. The automatic saw they use on cutting wood and steel. Their called Reciprocating saw. Thats all. Thank you for your videos.
With your other video, I 've got the impression that I will be able to view the assigned card number after I've created the account. But it seems this is not the case. The message is is that I need to 'upgrade the card".Change in procedure? Great video by the way.
i dont have an EON card yet, its almost a headache getting EON is almost like getting a real credit card - they ask for all sorts of ID's i'm in cebu, and all union bank branches ran out of EON cards - literally... buuut... this paymaya thing... its only been 38 mins since i posted this comment, now i have an account! wow! really convenient! since i have an online BDO account, i used it to load up the Paymaya - says it'll take 2 hrs -- totally willing to wait :) far better than lining up on banks -- all this i did on the same Seat without standing up :D
wait I got that paymaya card free in MRT station as their beep card. so if you want to get the physical card, get the beep capable card, it works the same as a regular paymaya card.
and also the balance loaded on the card also expires around 3 months I think. although this is not limited to beep card, you also get the same expiration with regular paymaya card.
I can assure you that your Paymaya balance will not 'expire' after 3 months. As far as I'm aware, there is no "expiration" on your money. I don't know about BEEP though.
how about i donot have a beep card but a regular paymaya physical card? can i use it as beep card as long as its loaded? or i should buy a card with beep logo?
I want to clarify if the Virtual Card number same as Physical Card Number?.Is there any conflict on that?.and where I can buy Pay Maya card provided with costumer's name already? Thank you Sir.
Let me clear one question. Can you signup paymaya account outside the Philippines? The answer is "Yes" and "No". Yes for those people who have online banking to the Philippines owned banks and holding their roamed Philippines mobile number. No for those who don't have online banking and roaming sim from the Philippines.
Re: account limits. But first a huge THANK YOU for your sanity saving series. After 23 years in the Philippines I've learned to not attempt anything off the traditional tried and tested and even then assume there will be a "our policy" or "impossible " somewhere along the way to subvert logic and common sense. It keeps things interesting but patience is a scarce resource and a zero balance is not a good place to be. So THANK YOU! The question- I have a donation of several rare collectible books, the proceeds will go to my next public health start up project. You mentioned paymaya (upgraded) has a max balance of 100k. Can that be increased? This looks otherwise to be pretty much what I need to set up (project only) eBay and PayPal accounts to sell these. The total proceeds should be around 500k with one book alone being around half that. I'd appreciate your advice please.
I'm glad the video was useful to you :) That 100k maximum balance on an upgraded account is really the maximum, there's no way to increase the limit beyond that. I think it's part of their efforts against money laundering and perhaps a requirement by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP).
Wow. That was the fastest reply I've ever seen. Extra Pogi points! Thanks. Anti money laundering kicks in at US$10K and is so full of holes and workarounds it's only real use is public perception. More likely the limit is internal to reduce its fraud exposure but that's just a guess. Another thought is it might have something to do with BSP account protection. Whatever the reason though, I now have the answer I need - thanks. I think I might set up one for my own use but for my project it looks like I'll have to set up a new card account with HSBC ("The bank that likes to say NO" (but then usually finds a way))
It's basically a debit card. The only advantage I see with owning that card is it has an integrated "Beep". That is if you get the one with the Beep logo. Otherwise, it's just another one of the countless other debit cards. I personally prefer BPI's Amore. They also have Beep, and you get perks at Ayala Malls. Although I also have the Amore credit card.
Well you can get a Paymaya virtual card in about 3 minutes without even getting out of bed. I can't even make a simple deposit in BPI in less than 45 minutes lol. Plus there's so many ways you can reload the Paymaya card vs. those offered by the banks. I'm sure there are some people who will prefer to go with those similar offerings from the banks but personally I prefer Paymaya.
Paymaya's my preferred payment method for my stuff online (I even bought an art book recently with my virtual card). Much easier to reload (I prefer to do this at SM or Robinsons, because sometimes 7-11's Cliq system go offline, though it's a much faster way).
Yeah it amazes me that a company as big as 711 can't keep their CLIQQ system online for more than a couple of days at a time lol. But I guess that's the great thing about Paymaya, you can reload at so many different places. Thanks for sharing your experience :) I'm sure other people will find it helpful when they read through the comments.
Hi! Thanks for this very informative vlog!Just a question, do i need to use my real name on sgning up paymaya and on the actual card? Im asking this because this is online, i just want to be extra careful. Since, im giving away my mobile number and email address. where we all know can use to verify an account.
So if I connect say my paypal that earned some cash from ad revenue or maybe other money load from the internet then connect it to my paymaya, would that mean I could essentially withdraw my paypal credits I earned from the internet? Thank you so much you've been a great help!
Hi! would you know if PayMaya also considers the 2 Year of inactivity as Dormancy? Like most Banks, or would it be a shorter period of time since they’re a non-bank institution?
Thankyou soo much, I'm proud even you are not filipino, I have a question. 1. WHERE DID YOU GET PAYMAYA CARD? 2. IF I LOAD MY PAYMAYA CARD, IS THE LOAD WILL LOAD UP IN MY VIRTUAL CARD AS THE SAME WITH MY PHYSICAL PAYMAYA CARD?
Hey your video was very helpful. Just one question, how do we know if the card has been activated? Or in other words, what is my assurance that the card has been activated and ready to use? Thanks in advance.
Mr. Gadget Addict, thank for ur informative video. My question is Can I use that in other country? e.g. Dubai? What about the currency? If I load that in peso while Im in the Philippines, how about when I go to Dubai, and widraw in ATM machine, can I widraw my money in Dirhams?
Well, PayMaya copied WeChat. There are some stores with PayMaya QR codes, scan that, enter the amount you want to pay, and that's it. However, majority of stores doesn't have it.
If i link paymaya to paypal, which option is better for currency conversion, Paypal or card? Especially when buying from any international online shopping site
can you use the physical card in shops even when your account is not yet upgraded? and do many merchants really reject your paymaya physical card because it doesn't have card holder name as some people say
What happens when someone use your virtual credit card? Like hackers trying to steal your money. Is there verification to confirm the purchase? or just taking down the virtual credit card and make new one?
Thank you, very clear and informative. I wanna know if anybody from the USA can send me money to my paymaya acct using their bank acct? if not, what would be the best option for them to send to my Paymaya acct?
How can I change my PayMaya account's assigned mobile number? My old prepaid sim was deactivated due to inactivity and I bought and put in a new one in my phone.. Can I re-assign it to a new mobile number or is it not possible?
I have the app registered with my SMART number which is Mastercard, If I buy and link it with a Paymaya card will it chenge in to a Visa Card? (to link with Paypal since they prefer Visa card)
very helpful since i used it first time earlier. buying steam products. may i ask, can i change my old phone no.? since im not using my past phone no. connected to my paymaya
Hi Sir! Can I already load money to my registered paymaya account (app) via 7/11 even though I didn't make the "virtual card" nor bought the "physical card" yet? Or do I have to wait for my physical card to arrive, and link it to my paymaya account (app) before loading money? (I just ordered the physical card a while ago online but I don't have it yet)
does the balance of paymaya virtual card and paymaya physical card same if you registered a physical card on your account and do you have to pay for both if you link them both on paypal?
How about now, do they charge fees? Can I have my name on the card? Lastly, do I need to upgrade my account to have this physical paymaya card and link to my account. Thank you so much, I really appreciate it.
Hi how can I confirm/check in the app if my PayMaya is already upgraded? Just went to a BayadCenter earlier and submitted the filled out form. Also, can someone share how much is PayMaya's dollar exchange rate? - Just to elaborate I am planning to take an exam in pearson vue and I want to use my PayMaya to pay for the 325 dollars exam fee, how much in peso will I be deducted if the current rate is $1=50Php.
Hi thank you for explaining,. but what about if my paymaya card or app expired? is theres a possible way to renew or do i need to buy another physical card? what about the app aswell thank you hope you respond.
Good day Sir . Why i Can't still withdraw money from my paymaya card even though i already upgraded it . I already changed the pin ..I cant withdraw the money through my Card? Please , what should i do ..
Thanks to Rhyshero for letting me know. If you signup to Paymaya using a Globe number, you'll be issued a Visa card. If you signup using a Smart number, you'll be issued a Mastercard card. Both are accepted pretty much everywhere and act exactly the same.
Gadget Addict hello you cannot withdraw thru atm if your account is not upgraded. the physical card is for POS for non upgraded accounts :-)
Correct, that's mentioned in the video description :)
dunno
i signed up using smart no. and i got the visa one
If they accept online credit card payments, sure. To use it in-store, you'll need to buy the physical card.
hey my virtual credit card is not a paymaya visa, mine is a smart mastercard? is it just normal?
Just to add some of my experience with paymaya that pertain to my concerns and answered by thier customer service to Gadget Addicts video:

where can i buy an actual card?
+Mark x the easiest way to get a physical card is to order it through their website. You can find the link in the video description.
Thanks :)
The Technoclast I love how you used the word "bunso" lmao
Watching this in 2018. All the information I needed in a VERY detailed yet concise explanation. Not to mention, very calmly delivered too! Subscribed!
I'm glad my son shared your channel to me. Your explanations are very well, calmly, concisely but thoroughly executed.
You literally explained all the details i need to know about paymaya. Tried watching a lot of videos but they confuse me. Thanks for this video!
I was curious and I saw your video. I never would've guessed that I would find the answer in your TH-cam channel. Thank you, Gadget Addict! You're the best! :)

shanePip haha! Saw it. Did not realize there is a shop option. Thank you.

Thank you for explaining everything I needed and reason to create a paymaya account ♡ Its really helpful

Super like!! Very informative..thanks sir.
With your other video, I 've got the impression that I will be able to view the assigned card number after I've created the account. But it seems this is not the case. The message is is that I need to 'upgrade the card".Change in procedure? Great video by the way.
This is helpful for a newbie like me. Thanks for making this video!
Hi i just watching your video now and im learning my question is where to buy the actual card? Thank its nice to hear back from you.
loved this video, was looking for an alternative for EON, and Credit Cards- was having issues getting those.. will try this one..
Subscribed! :)
Awesome, I hope you find it better than the EON card from Unionbank.
i dont have an EON card yet, its almost a headache getting EON is almost like getting a real credit card - they ask for all sorts of ID's
i'm in cebu, and all union bank branches ran out of EON cards - literally...
buuut... this paymaya thing... its only been 38 mins since i posted this comment, now i have an account! wow! really convenient!
since i have an online BDO account, i used it to load up the Paymaya - says it'll take 2 hrs -- totally willing to wait :) far better than lining up on banks
-- all this i did on the same Seat without standing up :D
Haha that's awesome. The power of technology :D If you reload via CLIQQ machines in 711, it's instant. But you'd have to leave the house for that :P
wait I got that paymaya card free in MRT station as their beep card.
so if you want to get the physical card, get the beep capable card, it works the same as a regular paymaya card.
and also the balance loaded on the card also expires around 3 months I think.
although this is not limited to beep card, you also get the same expiration with regular paymaya card.
I can assure you that your Paymaya balance will not 'expire' after 3 months. As far as I'm aware, there is no "expiration" on your money. I don't know about BEEP though.
remle ikawura s
how about i donot have a beep card but a regular paymaya physical card? can i use it as beep card as long as its loaded? or i should buy a card with beep logo?
I enjoy and learned a lot from your video. I just want to ask if paymaya acct can receive/deposit money from US like a debit card?
Such a good question.. Looking forward for the good answer.
Dude your the best
I want to clarify if the Virtual Card number same as Physical Card Number?.Is there any conflict on that?.and where I can buy Pay Maya card provided with costumer's name already? Thank you Sir.
Hi Gadget Addict, Thanks for your video it helps me a lot . i subscribe and liked your video and thumbs up too. keep posting and God bless you.
Great video!
Thanks man! Great tut
My every concern is answered. Thanks
Good day, can I use the physical card to withdraw money or do shopping if ever I travel abroad? Thanks so much in advance for your reply.
now i understand thank for this wonderful video finally i can't used this in USA and anywhere
Well you can use the card in the USA. But you need to signup inside the PH.
Hi. Is the Physical paymaya card number different from your paymaya card number provided in the mobile application?
very informative. thanks Bro
I tried to reload at Robinsons the attendant busy talking and said no load here
Was it a Robinsons business center? Did you try making pa-cute?
Gadget Addict Yes its in Robinson business center.. No d ako mahilig magpa cute XD... they like chismisan lol they don't like to be disturb so...
Gadget Addict smiley face lang hehe
