- UNHCR Special Envoy Angelina Jolie recently visited internally displaced Iraqis living in an informal settlement and a formal camp at Khanke, near Dohuk. There, she heard dramatic stories of escape from the more than 20,000 Yazidis who fled Sinjar and surrounding areas last August.
Since Ms Jolie's last visit to Iraq in September 2012, the scale and gravity of the humanitarian situation have increased dramatically, as the conflicts in Syria and Iraq intensify and become intertwined.
"It is shocking to see how the humanitarian situation in Iraq has deteriorated since my last visit. On top of large numbers of Syrian refugees, two million Iraqis were displaced by violence in 2014 alone. Many of these innocent people have been uprooted multiple times as they seek safety amidst shifting frontlines."

What can we do to help? Why do these people have keep suffering? Can we help the homeless here in our country as well? have they become transparent to America? Thank you Angelina, for helping my brothers and sisters in Iraq and Syria, at least you knew that they are humans too, they cry because of pain, a pain that got no medicine, it's heart pain, I heard many stories of rape, killing and violence, it hurts me that's I can't stop it, it hurts the Arabs that the people look at them as terrorists, while ISIS is destroying the real morals and picture of Islam, it hurts when I know that some children don't have any mothers while others never thought of their living mothers, it hurts that some kids didn't get even a hug from their fathers because the are under the grave, it hurts that some of these humans wish to die to be with their beloved, it hurts when people say un real things about my religion, and it hurts a lot more when they try to make my prophet and role model a bad person when he is the greatest I've ever seen or heard about, it breaks my hearts into peaces when you say that Arabs and Muslims aren't terrorist and they still deny that reality, I cry when I hear that a human was hurt or in pain, I don't care about what's his religion and from where is he, because i know that all of us are going to be under grave one day, I hate the fact that no one is hearing the screams of the dispirit mothers and sisters and girls, it takes my breath away when the protectors of the country become the killers of citizens and civilians, if I heard a person asking for help I'll help because maybe ONEDAY I am in his place or situation...
