  • The dominant model for how to conduct meetings in Western culture is rigorous debate, where the strongest ideas survive the battle. Consensus meetings are entirely different.
In this webinar, recorded on January 2023, Laird Schaub explores how consensus can work for #intentionalcommunities, creating a shift from competitive to cooperative culture.

If you want to learn more about consensus, check the Consensus for Communities, Course. You’ll discover how to encourage differences of opinion to emerge so that the ultimate decision has the benefit of the broadest possible input.
You’ll also develop your capacity to disagree constructively, so that your group is brought closer together through the process - rather than exhausted or discouraged.

Consensus has a vast potential in this world and age of voting because We have millions of small communities and polities (less than 500 people). Consensus is about sustained coherence in decisions. The Foundation's lessons in this video about consensus are by content a must-watch for every politician of the world regardless of what political systems they participate in since the definition of "politics" is making coherent decisions from divergent ideas. Politicians also need to comprehend the context behind people's ideas and beliefs. They should also be able to make progressive solutions from apparently antagonizing comments.
