When I was 15 I heard Pharoah for the first time. I was glued to my radio for about 20 minutes as a couple of friends bugged me to change the station. What they didn't know was my life was changing forever.
When I was 14 my guitar instructor told me "If you want to be a great lead guitarist - you need to study the music of John Coltrane" and that started a journey that led to hearing Pharoah Sanders - I've been a fan for over 40 years, and today am listening in honor of his amazing life. RIP.
here because flying lotus showed respect when he heard the news. he showed me something new today. I wish I'd discovered him while he was alive - but his music is still here so he will echo through time
When I hear Michael breaker I say wow he is great! Great solos Great technical dexterity BUT WHEN I LISTEN TO SANDERS I FEEL HUMAN,I FEEL LOVE I FEEL LIFE I FEEL BEAUTY...
Pharoah Sanders is unbelievable!! His music reaches my core. He knows how to put the sound together with his Quartet. The spiritual sound is so overwhelming for me that I can’t help but cry. Diane Davis
I especially love Mr. Pharaoh Sanders when he collaborated with Mr. Norman Connors when they played Thembi. Thembi is my favorite song by him. As all has already stated, he is being missed.
Oh, no!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! William Henderson passed away ? What a terrible news ! What is the Pharoah Sanders Quartet without Mr. Henderson ? Man, I can't refrain from crying...
Thank you Pharoah, you played a special role in our creator's plan, by expressing a very precious lineage of love in music. Peace and happiness through all the land, may it be so!🙏

Pharaoh, my friend n one-time neighbor n the 70's n East Orange , New Jersey...we miss u....RIP Remember all the dinners n get togethers... thank you!!!!
You are lucky to have been in his presence informally. I shook his hand once. Somehow I felt more of awe in him than when I shook hands with the Obamas. He will be in my thoughts daily for the rest of my life, as a connection to Eternity.
@@jxferenge6809 I hear you, he was a very quiet n introspective brother... very respectful... I wish I had gotten back n touch with him before now...I always followed his career n sent greetings to him when mutual acquaintance r friend was gonna see him
@@nmar7512 funny, but I remember his hand as being soft and well cared for. Wonder what took him down, as he must have had incredible lung function. You could see through the years, a progression of some arthritic condition with his legs. I think I had seen nearly 20 times at various venues, mostly on the West coast. Anyway, I feel lucky to have heard him play. May he rest in peace beside the Creator.

I hope that lifting him to heaven is part of the creator's master plan. May Ferell Sanders rest in peace, unless he wants to play on in another hemisphere. He died 19 days before his 82th birthday.
If I was asked to describe love through music, I would tell you to go listen to Pharaoh Sanders. Coltrane was supreme but Sanders is like an offering for the Lord, beautiful, true and full of his heart.
Look at that crowd. I bet a large portion of them took some acid in the '60s or '70s and had their lives changed forever because this music lol! I know it changed my life.
