The Grand Master of saxophone. There is no better. He truly transcends space and time, and has direct access to the cosmos at will. This man is a living legend, and should be given his due. He is so humble he would probably deny it though! William Henderson is amazing as well. This is a very good album.
Each time I listen to Pharoh I think this is it. This is my favorite. Then I hear him play something else and there I go again, this is it this is the one.
If I were to say I have one favorite song among the hundreds of thousands I have heard from great musicians of every time and culture of which I am aware this may be the one. Pure soul. Blessings and praise upon the most high and Pharaoh for being conduit for this music.
our Roots began in Africa, is so powerful it's as if the ancestors are speaking though the instruments to those of us who takes the time to listen. it's all in the frequencies....
Mr. Sanders has a way of communicating with your inner being, you just disintegrate right there... That Jet Li vs. IP Man into was just perfect. I'm grateful for this..
Great use of the clips from the movie,"Hero".Those scenes perfectly encapsulated the Martial arts concepts of stillness & motion, themes that Pharoah has explored in his music throughout his career. Beautiful piece, both visually & sonically.
I knew Thembi. Actually I knew Thembi version by Norman Connors, featuring him. Then, I got to listen to the original. To my surprise, another song named after a Southern African name. I'm happy they are all nice songs. Thembi is my sister's name. I hope in your all days you'll decide to come to Swaziland(southern africa)
I just discovered this today, a commenter on a news blog called this music divinely inspired, and said he was crying about the news of Pharoah's death, and posted this as an example. I don't listen to music like this, but this, this is perfect, it's at the same time flawless and perfectly flawed. It is beauty.
@@stefanmichaud2007 Yeah, thanks a lot, I'm going to try to listen to more of this kind of music. Listening to this partially for me and partially for a kitten that I'm watching over a video chat connection while my friend is away. EDIT: Unsure how many times I've listened to it by now, but it may be close to a dozen, I need to check out some of the other tunes he played in eventually.
I met Brother Pharoah in 1959 in NYC - through my extraordinarily talented 2nd Father...Jimmy Shepard, PBUH... what a drummer! Take a moment to enjoy "Message From Home"...maybe even Olatunji's " Drums of Passion"...
Lawrence, Message from home is probably my favorite jazz favorite among many. I use to play this CD back in the early 2000's and even my young adult kids liked it. Love it to this day.
flowjitsu you put into words what I was thinking. I have studied martial arsts while in the military in Japan and have always tried to keep that centerness.
The sound he created with that saxophone had some significant Energy flowing through it!
RIP Pharaoh Sanders the greatest Jazz musician on the planet.
This is medicine!!! Mr. Pharoah, Healing Force of Nature!!!
That opening riff --the best in all of jazz! On the day I learned of his death 9/24/22 --I salute you my brother!

Melodic, gritty, transcendent and soulful. Pharaoh is all of these and more.

Thembi was / is a sister form Orlando East, Soweto that the great Pharoah Sanders married in the late 60s or early 70s.
Okay

@@Fujikoma3x222 Check out Village of the Pharoahs.
Gorgeous!!!
Sensacionalllll
Cool musician is Sanders. It expands beyond the borders of a framework, of any musical direction taken as conditional, to one or another album. Great

goes well with incenses,,wild fertilizing the spirit and soul,in a way, like vintage wine.
In that strange jazz funk part of TH-cam again
No TH-cam, is part of this jazz 😎
Warning: prolonged exposure ( especially with a decent sound system ) could cause a rise in dopamine levels. I.e. you might get high 😊😊😊
