If ever someone used their body as a conduit, Edita fits the bill, amazing. That voice just pours... she is using all of her body without straining any muscle, pure mastery.

Vette gaddia I believe her voice was not made for Italian opera at all, she never maintained smooth legato line, she never had a precise trill, never had solid high notes (although they are effortless but scooped) her chest notes are the most awful they are like yawning. Zerbinetta is the only role i like her in.

In such a setting it would be inappropriate and distracting if she made hand gestures and tried to fabricate emotion. She has shown a thousand times that she knows perfectly well how to present herself on the concert or oratorio platform or in costume in a packed theatre. She is the real thing and has been a terrific performer for so long.

I recall a critic who complaned that Miss Gruberova broke character to accept the ovation from the audience! Miss Gruberova never appeared At Lyric opera again. A great loss. Lyric did Lucia last year, and I felt as though I was hearing singing from a good music conservatory Lucia. How far we have gone from greatness in Chicago.

Never been a big fan of her timbre, but it has it’s place in the repertoire and shows vocal chords of steel. Formidable performance for anyone, particularly a very young woman.
She is definitely in her early days-the tight-fisted left hand, the jutting of the tongue on the high note. Sooooo serious, too. She matured into a wonderful artist, relaxed and at ease with herself. Love her.
