I loved that as much as the crowd was absolutely all Jimmy and went apeshit for everything he did, by this point they were appreciating Krickstein's tenacity as well and giving him some good ovations when he would win points.
No athlete who wins two Wimbledons, five U.S. Opens, and one Australian Open sucks. He was/is the only player of either sex to win the U.S. Open on three different surfaces, a feat that will never be equaled because it has only been played on concrete since 1978.
Krickstein was tremendous! Got to ball boy for him at US Clay Court Open in Indianapolis. Crazy how young he was.
Real modern feeling game.
Epic match. As I recall it was on Jimmy's 39th birthday.
What a match. I remember watching this. Looking back one of the best things about it was the relative lack of endless rallies from the baseline.
One of the greatest matches ever at the US Open. Plus the added attraction if beautiful Steffi Graf waiting to play. 😍
JSC, my all-time fav player. he left it _all_ on the court.
Still epic 33 years later !

Connors was a street fighter.

Saw the ESPN 30 for 30. Connors did Krickstein dirty after this

What? Jimmy shook hands with Krickstein both good sports after the match ended. 5 set classic. I rooted for Jimmy Conners to win that match.
I watched that documentary years ago, I felt bad for Krickstein
