    I grew up in St Louis and I watched this truck start it all I've known Bob and his crew all my life spent many hours at Bob's shop and spent many hours at car shows at his shop standing right on top of this and its infancy was extremely awesome and to watch it grow into the industry that it did unfathomable congratulations Bob and crew

    I'm sure there's a lot of people now who have no idea why this truck matters but it brings a tear to the eye to know that this big ole beast is still around. It's a piece of history and this thing is the grandfather of high performance trucks. I thought this piece of automotive history was melted for scrap years ago. I hope it makes people learn about it's history because this truck started a whole industry.

      Hey, at least Bigfoot events were performed in color, unlike 40 years earlier, during world war II which was fought in black & white! Imagine being a soldier in Europe back then, wondering why the war couldn't be in color, and without all the graininess! Where do you think they got the cliches, like "things aren't always so black and white, there are also many shades of grey"? Lol

      Geez Louise dude, it was a joke! That should've been obvious, even if I hadn't have left an "Lol" at the end. But I DID leave an Lol, as a disclaimer for people who can't discern obvious sarcasm. Obviously that clue wasn't even enough!
      Next time before you decide to lash out at people with personal insults related to their mental health, learn about sarcasm and humour! Did you really think I was being serious when I said that "world war 2 was fought in black & white"? 😒😏

      @Indo Surfer I'll admit, I didn't actually read his comment, I just skimmed it and assumed that he was one of those people who want there to be another world war, just so they can watch war videos in HD, but now that I've read it, it's the dumbest joke that I've read in a LONG time.

    This truck and its siblings were the centerpiece of my young Motorsports fandom as a child in the 80's. It just seemed like Big Foot was unbeatable when i was 8 years old. There are very few individual vehicles in motorsports history as celebrated and instantly recognizable as Bob Chandler's blue ford.

  • @bPcrazydave

    As soon as I heard that motor fire, I was flooded with memories. I’ve heard that motor first hand. I’ve seen it rattle the ceiling panels off in Veterans Memorial Coliseum. After the show, when I was checking it out, I got trapped underneath by the crowd, and had to crawl under the front axle to escape.

    I grew up in Ferguson Mo. down the street from Midwest 4WD where Big Foot lived. There was a big rock out front that they parked one of the front wheels on. One day a friend and I got his dads FJ 40 stuck in the woods. Rode my dirt bike to MW4WD and Bobby Chandler came and pulled it out. I will always remember following Big Foot through the woods on my dirt bike while it was throwing mud 30 feet into the air.

    • @nathanmcdonald610
      @nathanmcdonald610 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      They actually brought one of the Bigfoot trucks to pull you out? I would think maybe they would bring one of their personal use 4X4's or shop trucks, but it probably cost them $200 in racing fuel to drive an actual Bigfoot truck out the wilderness and back just to pull out a stuck FJ40.

I recall him leaning up against the wall outside as I walked by him and his truck when he asked me what I thought of it. I just shrugged my shoulders and said "it's okay" and kept focused on my job, which was working on other large but not as large 4 x 4's. Later on, I recall how BF could spin all four of those tires on dry pavement. Never took the chance of seeing it perform. Still chuckle to myself about it. To this day, I drive a '79 F350.

    When zip tyeing a woven hose to a solid pipe, the vibration from that big motor will eventually rub a hole. Racecar guys cut a piece of 1/2" rubber hose- 1/2" long. Place it between the two items to be tied. Run a "Figure 8" with a zip tie around the pipe, through the hose piece and lastly, around the woven hose. Tighten as tight as possible. I love the Big Foot trucks! I have a 1987 Big Foot cruiser f-150. and it has the 351 engine, and it's pretty bad ass
