I bought my GT-3 back in 1999...I traded in my Boss ME-10 & a 25 watt Fender Champ towards it.I love it and will not sell or trade it...I did that with the ME-10 which sounded awesome BTW ....a mistake but you sometimes have to give to get.The GT-3 truly Is a workhorse and sounds fantastic still after all these years.I fell pretty lucky to have it and you know what ,I don't really need anything else.
Great sounds in these. I have the GT-5 as well. With an extra expression pedal and footswitch you can set up a lot of different sounds with parameters you can control on the fly.

Oh yeah -- I think the GT-3 and GT-5 sound and feel better than what came afterwards and, as you probably know, there is a lot of documentation on the web for them, especially the -3. I had one since Y2K, too much tweaking for old school player. I also had GT-6, but I like my used GT-1 more. Better amp models/tones and simple to tweak with 3 knobs, when you get familiar with it. I haven't really used Boss Tone Studio a lot. To me it sounds best through combo amp's fx return (cab sims off) but it also works well with active studio monitors, too.
I use this with a 100 watt crate half stack with Celestine crate 4 12 the bottom metal Chanel 13 I'm telling you this thing cranks I used this with 4 half stacks including Hugh's and Kettner with a laney very 100 and this is a monster you will love it you will never get tiered of playing around and have fun doing it
QUESTION - Can you send me a copy of the GT3 Firmware Update. I think it brings the GT3 Pedal up to Version 2.0 - OR if anyone else has one to send Thanks in advance. Let me know and I will reply with my email - thanks.
@@gearfacts Thanks for getting back to me - to answer your question, No downloads available - REALLY DISAPPOINTED that BOSS doesn't support their discontinued products. Only Manuals, no firmware - Digitech, same thing ... NOT Cool!! Mfgs like Zoom, and Tascam do a great job at fully supporting all their products with . I just now downloaded a firmware update for my Tascam DR-07 personal recorder and my Zoom G3n (yep, I like my toys :). Again, thanks for the reply - have a good one.

Yep i think you got a good deal on that GT-3, and furthermore I think that for what you want to play, it's better than the other two pedals you mentioned. The GT-3 is just a joy to play - simple, elegant, ruthless when it needs to be. It'll probably also increase in value as they are pretty rare now. Look after it my friend! GF
