  • Burnout in EVE is actually very common, for multiple different reasons, mine just happened to be ISK.

    Congratulations on the boy! I just got back from a 2 month break for the same reasons. I find how I get around the isk burnout is I change up my activities weather it’s isk generating for a couple of hours to pvp in the picket to exploration. And just general bullshitting on comms. You’ve got to make it fun for you though. So best of luck and see you in space o7

    Do you pvp? I found Eve kind of the same as you describe until I got into pvp. It makes everything else make sense and come together. In my opinion But, what you're describing with your daughter is essentially just setting goals in the sandbox. It's super fulfilling with your kid, I'm sure. But in order to really enjoy Eve, I think you kind of have to do the same thing she does. Think of fun things to do or work towards. Simply making isk to have isk is just an unfulfilling grind

    If you don’t want to worry about making isk you don’t have to, just plex your account and become a PVP only, Pirate Life. ZKill Stats Fleet Roams are the best memories ever. I have amassed Billions in Eve. Came to the point of now what. Well that’s the only answer I came up with and it’s been great.

    Started EVE in 2003, and had a long, storied career, with a few breaks sprinkled in. I haven't played in 3 years. Haven't played "seriously" in over 6. I activated Omega for the Monument upgrade and daily rewards. With so much of my stuff either lost forever or "saved" behind a paywall by Asset Safety, as well as no real friends left in the universe, I am having a hard time finding the motivation to actually *play* the game. I miss (consensual) PVP the most. It gave the ISK grind (and loss) a sense of purpose. Nothing like 2 roaming fleets meeting up for a nasty brawl at the exit gate.

      Yea when you’ve no one to play with it can get very lonely, very quickly. When that happens it’s very hard to keep pushing on.
      In terms of PvP I’ve dabbled in it, but never really got into it all that much.

    And for this very reason right here is why i pay cash for my subs. I hear this from alot of guys i play with and that is how you get burned out quickly. I log on and do what ever want to do and it keeps the game fresh.

    • @Expedishun
      @Expedishun  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      For sure! Plexing your account can lead to burnout insanely quick. I’ve just picked up 3 months sub on sale, so I don’t need to worry about my sub for a while

  • @skylinevspec000

    Mate, the best thing I ever did was dump a wad of cash into the game and just enjoy it for what it is. Money is tight but tomorrow I'll go earn that $40 back, the next 3 months my mind will enjoy the peace and happiness. I'm at the point where that subscription has ran out. Am trying to do it for plex and guess what.. I am not enjoying the activity.
    Take a break, ive enjoyed my breaks and come back to eve to enjoy it again.

    I think the out of touch paywall always brings me to hating the game. They literally thought of it all to demand your real life money! Exactly what you said you got 30 days and each log in must be a grind for isk to keep using the stuff we already paid for.

    • @Expedishun
      @Expedishun  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yea, it definitely can be a massive burden at times, having that feeling hanging over you that you must log in and play to make isk

  • @maudit00

    I dont think that comparing themepark mmo like wow or eso to sandbox like eve or albion etc. Gameplay loop is totaly different in themepark you are given activities to do that are cool but finite. In sandbox you can do whatever you want how much you want but you need resources to do it, so they are much more currency oriented. Both are cool, but it depends what you want from the game. Chenge games and dont expect one game to fulfill all your gaming needs is the most healthy approach imo:)

    Sell the Orca. Sell the barges. Sell the mining lasers, all of it! Leave mining to the bots and the chumps. It's a waste of time that turns Eve into a job and doesn't even make good ISK to begin with.

      Ya know, im about 4 hours ahead of you on that hahaha

    • @MattPlaysMusic
      @MattPlaysMusic ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Everyone has their own definition of fun I guess. I personally find mining absolutely boring, but I won't shame anyone for enjoying it. To each their own I guess. I am in a pvp wormhole corp, and I have to say, huffing gas from time to time is INCREDIBLY relaxing. One of the best things about Eve is that there are so many different avenues of play, and so many vastly different ways to enjoy the game!
      Love the videos dude!

    • @TheLime-wd3yu
      @TheLime-wd3yu ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's a good point, I forgot gas huffing. I'm talking about staying in the same hisec system going to the same belts to F1 a Veldspar rock every 15 minutes. I'm sure there's people that do genuinely enjoy that, my issue is that 99% of new player content on TH-cam and the vast majority of new player corps will just pigeonhole you into mining for as long as you can stand it. To be fair, the learning curve on Eve is ridiculous and the game itself only teaches you how to be an easy target. I just wish that there were more resources that pushed skills like dscan and defensive PvP that open up the rest of the game rather than "here's the best possible Retriever fit to make 7m ISK an hour in the most boring way possible rather than 5m with a less optimized fit"

    • @MattPlaysMusic

      @@TheLime-wd3yu Agree with you 100% here. When I first started Eve (long ago with a different character) I saw someone in an orca out in HS and I messaged them saying "wow thats a sick ship, what does it do?". They explained it and convinced me to join their corp, buy a venture, follow them to a belt, and mine for hours and hours and then give them ALL the ore. Did that for like 2 days and decided Eve sucked and quit. Came back about a year later, made a new character, jumped into a WH and have, for the most part, never come back out hahahaha. I much prefer the higher risk/higher reward style of play

    • @TheLime-wd3yu
      @TheLime-wd3yu ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MattPlaysMusic whew, and I thought I was a jerk for torching a new player's Heron out in a wormhole relic site. Scamming someone out of a few million ISK of ore over the course of two days is next level terrible 😂
