I remember using cinematic mode while flying through the alien mothership corridors and you get a fly-by from an alien point of view (it draws that alien and the cam is just behind him looking at your ship from inside a room looking out grated viewport).
This game has a very special place in my heart. On the one hand it was rather crappy in terms of overall execution, on the other hand it was also ambitious as hell, and quite unique in many ways.
This is one of the few DOS games that I know of that uses the Math Co-processor. I ran it on a 386DX-20 with an 80387 recently and it actually accelerated the game(it was still slow though). It's an impressive game for the time.

I remember playing the hell out of that game back those years - my girlfriend bought it for me as xmas gift. One of the first titles wich had full italian dubbing. Too bad that it was terribly done. On "story mode", I remember it had a bug: coming to a point where it asked to eliminate all the fighters and motherships in the area, and then nothing happened. I believe it might deserve a reboot... why not?
I have the game in original box at home. When i bought this game in the 90s from a marketplace i couldn't install it. This morning, just one hour ago, i installed it and it runs. And then i was disappointed. :-) Character-Design, omg. -.- Gameplay, -.-. Everything feels so bad today.
It definitely has not aged well as mentioned in a video I uploaded a few months ago. We've come such a long way in gaming since Inferno came out that this game ends up being stuck in the past. You can't change your controls or disable inverted flight axis at all, so everyone is simply forced to adapt. The game also does no service to point out to you that you have a fast brake (hold right click, then simultaneously hold left click) which is a godsend and absolutely necessary later on. There's a good reason no one seemed to finish the game for decades after the game's release. I just took a deep breath and went HAM on this a few months ago as it had been bugging me since 20 years ago to figure out if the game ever actually ends if you play long enough.
@@Emuser012 well the Wing Commander games came earlier and had an amazing story and atmosphere. In this game it's just that old commander and you, pilot bigfoot. It was kinda animated, but rather than waiting for some contrived animation to load I'd meet the barkeeper on the Wing Commander ship (Shotglass?) and ask what's up....
Filippo Rambelli I saw the final act of the game today! There are three final missions, two where you try to destroy the lead Rexxon mothership and kill Drakkon in the mothership’s control center, and the final mission involving escorting Ark out of the solar system aka the last of humanity aboard a ship named the Ark. I haven’t beaten any of these missions yet cause they are ridiculously hard but you will surely see me upload more soon.

Yeah I bought this game ages ago for PC and just installed it some months ago. I was sorely disappointed.

I think the characters were not computer generated but mainly made out of clay and then put infront of a camera.
I hope whoever was responsible for the characters designs/drawnings never worked again.

Never played the game but I did buy the soundtrack on cd.
If I recall correctly the game disc also functioned as a normal compact disc cd and had the soundtrack on it.
