At LVPrasad Eye Institute, Sankara Nethralaya, PGI chandigarh and AIIMS, RP centre, and many other eye hospitals all over India and surrounding Asian countries. Doctors are seeing hundreds of blind ROP babies who did not get Right to Sight as ROP screening not done. Who will take accountability and answer these innocent babies from many towns and NICU and SCNU. There is no champion saying Tees Din Roshni kay like DO boond Zindagi Kay. Numbers are increasing from numerous states of India. We are hugely grateful to those doctors and hospitals who are getting timely screening done and insisting on this crucial test done for all preterm under their care
Do not keep babies for survival if eye screening is not routinely done. Inform parents that child can go blind but we do not have facility. They may get a doctor who carries a mobile machine to get eye check done even when baby is on ventilator and treatment can be given by passionate dedicated doctors, even for babies on ventilator. Reaching out, informed information to parents and colleagues can provide solutions. Medicine is very very difficult, rural areas all the more, things are very difficult but solutions can also come in these challenging opportunities. Ask more for more
Appreciate the journalists for highlighting this very important issue. NICUs have mushroomed in tier 2 & tier 3 cities in the last decade, but only few NUCUs get routine ROP screening done. Really sad to see the plight of tgese babies, no doubt tte parents should get justice. As a Retina specialist preventing blindness from ROP is my top priority and passion and I travel to various NICUs even as far as 150 Km for this purpose.
Very good initiative for awareness. I am working in Uttar Pradesh for ROP awareness. Every ophthalmologist should be trained for ROP screening . Much needed awareness among doctor's.
Awareness about critical ROP screening within 30 days of birth, Tees Din Roshni Kay' amongst doctors, parents and public needs more awareness campaign by RBSK Govt of India and also Paediatrics societies. Also need newborn eye screening awareness.. when should a newborn ba y get first eye health check up?? It is to be done on day of birth. Is it done for your child?? Check RBSK guidelines
Indian RBSK, ROP screening guidelines are 2.0 kg, 34 weeks and more than 2.0 kg and more than 34 weeks if there are additional risk factors. Please correct the information on the video. It is stating USA guidelines. INDIAN GUIDELINES TO BE INFORMED TO PUBLIC.
A Pediatrician needs to know the guidelines for ROP screening and there can be no excuse in not getting timely ROP screening done for these precious babies
Rop screening is must for these premature kids In this era we can’t just focus on Only Saving the life but we can provide a better future by screening them as per guidelines We are giving eye screening and treatment even the babies are on ventilators or admitted in Nicu
"Tees Din Roshni kay" is an important initiative to spread awareness about "Retinopathy of Prematurity (R.O.P.)", a potential blinding disorder in premature babies. Please let everyone know about this to eliminate avoidable Blindness among children, future of our country.
As someone with ROP myself I totally agree that more awareness is required in order to prevent loss of vision and blindness in premature babies! Hope these 2 babies get all the required support needed to thrive with low vision!
This is sheer negligence with the deliberate intent of the doctor as well as the so-called hospital, wherein the intent was merely to generate bills. Also, what did the DGHS West Bengal do? License can only be issued if all the measures been met and not in a friendly manner. It is a criminal act at the hands of the doctor, hospital as well as Director General of Health Service.
It is very difficult to save lives of these preterm babies especially in rural areas. Dedicated doctors and hospitals are saving these lives in extremely difficult conditions. They are providing many services in rural areas where very little good Healthcare exists in so many areas of our country. The eye screening and other newborn screenings also need to be.put.in place. It is quite challenging and not easy but systems need to be put in place to get there. There are also technology gaps that need to be addressed such as low cost retinal camera for babies . While our techs have reached the moon and mars and depths of oceans, who is going to reach 15mm inside a baby eye with a good quality camera costing less than say one lakh rupees ?? Any tech takers of this challenge?? Current camera costs 20 lakhs to one crore!!!!
