Great video. Perry have been producing some fantastic cavalry sets over the last few years. As for Polish Lancers for now I’ll just get the Victrix set but as Perry are about to produce plastic Duchy of Warsaw maybe they’ll get onto some cavalry too.
Thank you very much - absolutely, alternative are available and I personally wouldn't be faffing to try and convert these one way or another - I'm a little hopeful too that some Duchy of Warsaw light cavalry might be on its way in the future!
@@thelastbattalion3509 - I used Austrian Hussars to create Russian ones, just stuck Russian heads on them. No doubt there are differences historically but painted up and squinted at they look good enough to me and I can’t afford to buy them all in metal
@@emmetminiatureswargames2424 Sounds totally reasonable to me - I did consider just converting some Russian Uhlans into DoW Uhlans/Lancers through conversion by paint to the czapka (and if I really wanted to I suppose I could sculpt fringes on the epaulettes), the only reason I'm not is I've got more figures to paint than one lifetime as it is!
I’d love to do some Landwehr cavalry but when I costed it up, the 2 boxes plus the French light cavalry horse came to nearly £60! They do look really nice though.
True, cost is a factor. I only purchased a dozen of the French Lt Cav horses. If it didn't cause too much upset one could just use the horses provided - perhaps in the mishmash of equipment they have ended up with something different... in my case the cost worked out reasonably because I was able to build multiple units due to there being enough lance arms left over and my having some spares from previous kits.
@@thelastbattalion3509 no if I was doing it I'd have to use the French light horses. The whole little project appeals to me, plus to have something a bit unique, but as I play Sharp Practice £60 for 8 usable figures is a bit prohibitive. It would be interesting to use the czapka though with a bit of judicious modding to create a Landwehr unit that wore them especially as I model the army of 1813. Damn my weak resolve! 😄
@@Spookytooth01 Ah I see. Perhaps at that point it might be better to plump for the metal equivalents then? They still work out cheaper even if they are heavier. The czapka conversion does sound intriguing!
A few days I ago I found Perry Minis. Great STuff. I am looking for Horses and Models that I could use for Bolt Action. These could be Easily Polish Lancers. I am looking for Cavallary for my WW2 Germans. Can you recommand one from the top of your Head. Of course I will kitbash them a bit.
I’m not sure I’m best placed to help you with this search, I don’t know enough about the uniforms and equipment of WW2 cavalry I’m afraid. But good luck!
Yes it is, as I show about halfway through (and as is shown on the included leaflet), you can build regular Prussian Uhlans with a combination of parts from this and the Allied Cavalry set - you just need to do a little bit of modification to the cuff on the lance arm.
I’d say that they’re pretty strong candidates yes, the uniforms are very similar. I’m sure others with greater knowledge will be able to indicate the differences but to my eye it’s possible. Depends on personal taste a little, they’re your miniatures after all!
I think you can cross them with the Austrian hussars. Russian lancer body with an Austrian head on an Austrian horse, and then you put the Austrian hussar with a Russian kiwer shako (probably line infantry ) on the Russian horse, lengthen the shabraque into a point (greenstuff ) and you have Austrian uhlans and Russian hussars.
I hope we can follow their progress into the painting, great video..
Thank you. The best I can promise is that they’re all on the to-do list!
oh oh can't hide my excitement been waiting for these for a while great video
Thank you, they are nice figures as always from Perry. If I was honest I’m even more excited in the forthcoming Duchy of Warsaw infantry…
Really beautiful kit

@@thelastbattalion3509 - same here, if something can’t be converted by a head swap I don’t bother, takes me long enough to paint figures as it is
Nice video and so good figures here! Nice perry!
Thank you, yes another good set.
Excellent - thank very much, I will definitely get some of these.
Glad it helped persuade!
Thanks for sharing this. Very useful.
You’re welcome, glad to be of help.
Super video. Could you do the Prussian landwehr cavalry (lancers) who have the lancer style headgear with these sets ?
It depends which headgear you mean. You can make Landwehr and Line Uhlans with covered shakos certainly.
