Hiwatt amps have been some of the best sounding amps I’ve heard live. Basement toured with them and they were the best sounding band in the bill that night, they didn’t even headline
I can totally relate to this. In the early 2000's when I played out frequently, it seems like every band had a Dual Rec or 5150. I mean they do work but after a while......it all sounded the same and almost everyone played EMG's in those days.

I'm confused by this video. I had this amp. Not this exact one, but a Super Hi 50. To my knowledge, I am one of only a handful of people in the USA to have bought one of these direct from Hiwatt. The way you describe this amp functioning doesn't make sense to me. The gains shouldn't be interactive. One is not high freq. and the other is not low freq. And to be honest, I don't hear any sound change when you start sweeping Gain 2 in the video. They are tied to the exact same spot in the circuit and switchable via a relay using the footswitch. They shouldn't both active at the same time. You need the footswitch to make them function. And you never demo the 4th gain stage in your video, which makes me wonder if you have the footswitch? The dual gains and dual masters are there so you can set the amp up with two different volume/gain levels. Like a faux second channel. Hit the button on the switch and Gain 1 is active. Hit the button again and Gain 2 is active. Either this amp was modified by someone or there's a malfunction or there's something else going on. Can you confirm? And man... if you haven't been able to activate the 4th gain stage, then you're missing out on 50% of what this amp can do. I've got two videos of mine on my channel for reference. You can also download the user manual from Hiwatt, which will explain the functionality.

It was developped entirely by Mike Fortin and went to the UK to built the first 50 with Kee Mayer, the founder of Dover when he was still at Hiwatt, or something along those lines. There's a 2019 NAMM demo where he says it himself and walk through the amp. No wonders this thing rip! Your demo sounds VERY good!
Nice trasy intro
Extra trashy
The Thud Killer
Nissssssssssssssssssce 🍻
Great amp but that price tag.... OOF
Hurts my heart a little
I don't understand how you/we can get a good idea what these amps you demo sound like when you always have the master on 1 or 2!??? All we're hearing is buzzy preamp gain.
You can also download the user manual from Hiwatt, which will explain the functionality.
very coooool
Sounds cool but high gain hiwatts make about as much sense as poopy flavored popsicles.
Said differently, Hiwatt is a clean amp.
So are fender amps, but then there's the 5150 III. Not everything has to be black and white!
@@belligerentamateur that would be a valid argument if the 5150 III had a classic a spaghetti Fender logo on the front of the amp but it doesn't.
@@KidNato the early ones do, and they are all built by fender in fender factories. They're fenders. Silly argument.
Hiwatts make great pedal platforms. If you have a distortion/fuzz/overdrive pedal, well then...
Yooo first
Schecter just can't get Inlays right lol. Cool guitar otherwise.
Lol. Couldn't agree more man.
@@belligerentamateur I have a Keith Merrow MK2. I love it. Every schecter I've tried always plays and sounds great.
They just have such a design issue. Maybe the Affliction Banned T Shirt company also works for schecter.. LOL
@@kylegrossi8175 hahaha. Totally agree man. Love their stuff but a lot of tacky design choices.
