- More fun with the S&W M&P 40c. Got it back from S&W with a new slide.
This was actually our first video filmed with the new Canon Camera.
You might notice, though, that on about the third or fourth shot, the white dot flies off the front sight of the new slide. I kept going and tried to ignore the ragged looking front sight. After all, all front sights don't have a white dot on them anyway. It did make for a less visible sight picture, but I can't really blame missing on that.
I called S&W, and the tech person has a replacement front sight on the way, so I'll have to get out my sledge hammer and replace the front sight when it arrives.

I like the out door set up.
The Spyderco on the table has a Tenacious look about it, nice vid
thats funny, bondo sounded weird, jb weld maybe but bondo....ok thnx for sharing...glad they got you sorted out
Bloody hell that camera is awesome!!!
YEA. best hd video ive seen.. keep it up
Hickok, I gotta say, your little personal range there is handgunner heaven...
05:50 you can see the path of the ammunition to hit the gong :D, nice video
I can actually see the round in the air before it hits the gong or flies by it. Cool.
I can't believe the front sight is falling apart now ...... I would have lost my mind. It reminds me of my Taurus I owned last year.
very cool, very nice, glad you could fix it
It's ok Hickok, it's not you, it's the wind.
Life isn't always good in a state where they tell you what guns you can, and cannot buy. MA restricts the purchase of Glocks, XDs and a variety of other really fun handguns. Capacity is also limited. The 40c is a blessing for the oppressed and it's my daily carry weapon of choice. People in Mass can be proud of that "Smith and Wesson - Springfield, MA USA" signature on the steel slide. It allows us to forget that our lawmakers wear their wives' pink panties to work every damn day!
I'm liking this HD video
I love your videos
their we go
i like the sound of that gun
Hickok your the best man even the days your not doing your best you still put it all out there for us to enjoy thanks for all the videos. Could you please do another Glock 23 video?
Cant wait to get my 9c or fs .45 in dark earth. Got both on backorder. Hope one comes in soon.
They same exact thing happend to my ,40 4.25 M&P. The dot came out at about 300 rounds. Smith sent me a new one but I like the orange nail polish i used.
Bondo. LOL It's great for a lot of things buuuut no. Love that new camera. Still love the sound too, that steel sounds amazing.
Would have been a good idea to fess up with the front sight white dot falling off other thatn playing it up. Respect for actually pointing it out later. I think someone would have eventually picked up on it.
I'll agree that the M&P trigger needs some work. Apex makes an entire trigger upgrade kit. I installed it ~6 months ago and it has made an incredible amount of difference. Likely better than ANY factory handgun trigger. Sure nobody wants to spend money upgrading a brand new gun. I get it. But the dependability, and especially, the ergonomics of the M&P were well worth it to me.
lovely gun
Mine hit low a lot and I ended up shimming the rear sight. Pretty nice hitter now, not that I could hit that gong you hit all the time. 25 yds or so it hits just about every time.
Goddammit :P You have waaaaaaay too much fun man and I am jealous :P Winter and cold as a witches tit up in my neck of the woods and only one indoor range several clubs have to share so we each get one night a week on a 25 yarder :( cant wait for the big range to open up in April :P Nice to see a dude knock off a lotta rounds :D
@bigdollars99 First: The frame did not crack, that part of the gun is called the slide. Second, it's called a range, not a rance, and the split in the metal did not happen the first time shooting it seeing as how he bought it used. Third, the front sight did not come off, that was some paint in the sight. Fourth, Sig and 1911's have problems of their own. If your ignorance wasn't obvious before, it certainly is now. Good day.
Great shooting
in 200 years, some archeologist will dig around on your hill hickok, and find the ground riddled with bullets and wonder what the hell happend there.
Man that camera is really nice. Great colour.
Bam.. bam.. Bam.. bam.. "slow down" bam bam bam bam bam
more of the hickok radio show please
@Lorderk Me too... but I was not disappointed. This is another quality video as I know 'em, feels like I'm standing right next to him. Really personal and (often ironicly) honest.
Gotta love it!
just purchased one today....Glock 27 was to small for me and I hated the xdm back strap saftey. Hopefully it was a good purchase...worst part about buying a new gun is waiting a week for the paper work to clear !
good shooting for no front site dot
that thing is fallin apart...
@JahiriAtto Excellent, yes!
"Well, there was definitely an armed exchange here ... thousands of rounds fired. Hmm, it appears one side had a few more guns than the other, but the other side had some strange plate steel body armour. Oh, and there were zombies."
Same thing happened to me with my new FNH FNX .40. Third or fourth shot the white dot popped out of my front blade. I found it and supper glued it back in. Yet to see if it will last. Didn't have that problem with my FNP .40 or my FNP .45 Tactical. Just the FNX.
Almost thought you needed to whip out the old m4 to finish that board
You're a brave man Charlie Brown. Just sayin".:)
@firebirdude2 Truth. I love both my M&P9s. They don't let me down either.
Hickok your the best man even the days your not doing your best you still put it all out there for us to enjoy thanks for all the videos
Got one works well....always fun watching your vids sir and ALWAYS extremely informative....thanx
AND unbelievable accuracy @ those distances with that gun! (as usual).......
So you're a Master Carpenter as well as a Master Shooter! Bravo Mr. Hickock!! :-)
I filled the crack with bondo..." That was funny.....
c'mon ladies and gentlemen read the description, no it's not bondo! lawd have mercy. if you havn't learned by now hickok45 has a outstanding personalty and is joking saying that bondo was used!
I seriously pitty the fool that were to ever engage Hickok in a shootout.LOL
@YJWoadWarrior i would think since the white dot flew off that is why he was having trouble
Nice, I am surprised that you have encountered a couple of problems with that little smith though
i would love to see u do a review on the bren ten ....thats a gun i haven't seen in a while ...but keep up the good work hickok love ur channel
those animals may not move, but they sure are tough.
Glad S&W was able to fix it for you. I hope I have the same luck with mine. I appreciate you videos. Keep 'em coming.
The new camera is just amazing!
Great zoom and sound!
Even Hickok45 could use a front sight while shooting! Good to see S&W lived up to their great CS reputation.
@Probuilt7, Yeah, I agree with you, but what I do is kind of a "reality show," which is one of the things people appreciate, I think. I had three malfunctions with the new Glock 19 Gen 4, too, on camera, and I'm sure Glock would rather that had not happened. I have the paint back on the front sight, and we'll do another video with the gun. It feels great. Actually, if I had noticed the crack before posting, I might not have posted the video. I realize it's nothing that common.
hickok i think that is pretty common with this gun the sight falling off several people i know have had m&p said the sight fell off the first time they went shooting one guy even said to take it to a gunsmith and have them paint it white with nail polish so you are not the only one.
I love the new camera !
Good to know S&W made it right!
Another great video, thanks hickok45!
props for not being afraid to show yourself missing a little... most humans do miss occasionally hickok
Certainly a fun gun and a great shooter. Nice to see that it could be repaired. Good on S&W for taking the time to make things right. Love the ending with shooting the board off. Reminds me of what we do all the time with .30-30's at our camp. Great times!
@JahiriAtto legends will spawn about the most epic gun battle ever faught......
Nice vid bud
Now, please, don't get mad at me, but from past experience with certain S&W semi-autos, and the .40 S&W cartridge in particular, I'm inclined to whip out the "A" word. It would really interest me to see how that gun would do on those animals or on paper from the bench with that same ammo, just to confirm or rule out any, um... lets call them, eccentricities, that were not induced by the shooter.
Ha I actually believed he fixed it with bondo.. And I was like "wow.. I would never do that. Hickok has GIANT Cahones.... I would be worried about eating parts.." ha ha
I've never even heard of the m&p having any problems. It's typical the highest profile "gun guy" on youtube has a catastrophic failure on the slide. M&P is my favorite gun to bad you got the only lemon in m&p history.
those platyes sound like church bells
I have the 9c like it a lot
I believe I can sense your frustration as you continue to shoot on this video. This looks like one of the few times you really didn't enjoy yourself on the range. Of course that's what makes this sight so great...no editing, no put ons, just shooting! I guess some days are diamonds, and some days are stones.
New camera sounds amazing.. Love the sound of those .40s
I paused ad 5:51 and I can see the bullet in the air. =)
Hickok, New excuse. The reason you're missing more often than usual is that the bondo is lighter than the metal, thus throwing the gun a little to the side while trying to maintain your sight picture.
cool vid
would it still be safe to shoot though . Great video ..
@JahiriAtto Especially when only one side is loaded with bullets and the other side just empty shells. LoL.
love the way the shots sound on the new camera!.
WOW I like the new camera. The sound is so much better. I almost when and got my ear plugs from my range bag. The video looks great too.
I did not realize that you had a mustache until you started using this HD camera. Just an observation.
5:50 you can see the bullet hit the gong!
WOW! that sound quality is AMAZING!!!!!
Love my S&W 40c
@mrbluenun you can reload your ammo but for handguns there's generally no advantage since ammo's pretty cheap depending on the round.
Just picked up a M&P 40c at a gun show yesterday. Put 250 rounds thru it today, and 10 hollow points after that. Ran flawless. Feels great, I love it. My front sight paint came out too, but no big deal, I'll repaint it or buy night sights, or call S&W. This will be my new carry gun. I still like my Glock 23 as well, I carry that at work.
The white part of my M&P 45c's front sight fell out at some point too. Sounds like an issue.
Yeah ! Show those innocent metal plates, who's the boss around here!
Good job.
personally, I would have used JB Weld and bailing wire. lol
1 slide cracks! 1 sight flies off--nuff said--S&W get your quality control together.
@14sbrown His Golden Retriever.
I know someone how just got one of these guns. I saw it today and it felt really good. Maybe someday I can shoot it.
@akompsupport bondo is slang for fiberglass putty a substance used to fill in scratches and small dents in body panels of cars and or boats. He did not use this on his gun he sent it back to s&w and they corrected the problem with a new slide. please watch the whole video before leaving silly comments. If a slide was cracked on any gun it would be very foolish to try and repair it unless you were a certified gunsmith
You have probably some of the best camera work of all the youtube shooters I've seen.
@taofledermaus , Sounds good to me!
After 3,000 rounds of 9mm out of the M&P Full Size, I finally picked up the Compact model for CCW. After getting a holster that fit it well and taking it to the range, my other CCW weapons are in the safe unloaded. To me it's the perfect size between the TCP .380 and the .357 Mag. I named it Goldilocks not to big or to small.
No issues with the front sight. IT ate through 200 rounds of the Tula "CRAP" From Walmart. ALl out of everything but that. No issues in break in. Love my M&P Fam.
You should play a song with the metal targets =)
Smith and Wesson needs to send this man a new gun.
It is bad for them to have there gun come apart and be seen from many gun owners on youtube.
AMAZING!!!
Picked up an M&P 40c and im excited. Looks and feels nice.
Huh, I had the white dot fly off my M&P 40 full size. I wonder if there is a defect with the material they use to make it. In any case I just used some acrylic paint and painted a new one on.
Very nice gun. Finally got mines and loving o
Now you have an excuse to get night sights :).
Hickok that is the worst I have ever and I mean ever seen you shoot. If it were me, I would have called it a day and saved the ammo for a better day. Keep up the good work...........
Good quality video! Nice colour and light!!
