As a brazilian, my perception is that the interest in judaism is growing fast among the latin christians. I have nothing against this, i'm also very interested in judaism. But unfortunely some christians are leaving behind Our Savior Jesus Christ in this process.
It's likely bec there is Jewish blood in many of their veins. The Inquisition chased many Jews to South America and then the Inquisition there caused many Jews to hide for fear of auto de Fe. Most would not be Jewish anymore due to years of intermarriage but their souls are crying out for Judaism so they seek out Judaism.
If you are interested in Judaism academically bec it's a beautiful heritage so you can keep whatever other beliefs you want.....but if you're interested in Judaism from a practical level so of course you'd have to leave all traces of J- behind.
A great number of Latin Christians are poorly catechized and don't even understand the most basic tenets of Christianity... they are interested in generic "spiritual" things, which leads many to practice a mishmash of Catholic Christianity, African Santeria, New Age, pseudo-Hinduism, and pseudo-Buddism (Buddha statues look cool...). They have no knowledge about Judaism, or what it means to be Jewish. They just see Israel as a modern, technologically advanced, and rich nation (part of the "cool boys club") and feel attracted to that. Most real Jews would be horrified to imagine these "masses" of Latins trying to convert!
Sandhedrion 55b "a jew may marry a three year old girl"(specifically 3 years and a day old). Sandhedrion 54b "a jew may have sex with a child as long as the child is over 9 years old". Yeah I'd be interested as well with those tunnels being discovered.
It is not true that those born of a Jewish mother dont have to keep commandments. Of course thats NOT so. What he means is that of course their Judaism is not nullified. A Jew born a Jew is always a Jew no matter what he does. He just means as a convert if he doesnt keep the laws his conversion to begin will wont be valid. Theres no way a born Jew would bot be valid. Thats what he means by his statement.
