Javier Milei: Meet Argentina’s new ‘Donald Trump’ style President

  • Javier Milei has emerged as a captivating force, challenging the status quo and redefining the political narrative after being elected as Argentina's next President.
The firebrand economist turned political maverick now takes on the most powerful role in Argentina at a time of deep unrest.
Argentina currently has an inflation rate of 142.7%, a stark contrast to the United States at 3.24% and Australia at 5.4%.
The Argentine Peso has taken a nosedive, plummeting more than 90% against the almighty U.S. dollar.
Milei campaigned on a radical agenda with bold policy shake-ups, hoping to address many of the challenges facing Argentina.
Often compared to Donald Trump for his outspoken and unconventional approach, Milei's presidency is closely watched for its potential impact on the nation's future.
In this Sky News Digital Original, we explore exactly who Javier Milei is and whether he is up for the task ahead.

Education, kids health, families destroyed, people wanting a nanny state and the government to do everything for them. The result? Huge government

If you look outside the clips, when he is really talking about economy, he is extremely conservative (you don't spend what you don't have) and also morals. He is a University economic professor who worked for international Banks and institutions. He is not crazy nor stupid; and also extremely humble. At the presidential debate (not what a politician would have done) he explained and responded every question, even the evil intended ones, because a professor that is what you ought to do. Now that he has won, he has referred at himself as a tenant (not an owner, nor a ruler, e tenant!).

I'm a Venezuelan living in Colombia, and I envy Argentinians for their new president. I've been following Milei since 2015, and I can't believe a libertarian made it to the Presidency. Wanted to point out that Milei has clarified that the support the "establishment" right (Macri & Bullrich) gave him DID NOT compromise his agenda, he's described their support as "unconditional and patriotic". I'm looking forward, anxiously, to what Milei will do with Argentina. I hope he revives the legend that it once was, and shows the rest of us Latin Americans how it's done.

I was in Argentina last month. When I got there the exchange was 860 pesos to a USD. A week later, it was over 1000.
The menus in restaurants had stickers over the printed prices so they can be changed every few days. Cashiers at nice stores had to have money counting machines to count the handful of notes needed to pay for anything. Seriously, $30 was 30,000 pesos. The biggest note is 2000, but they are difficult to find so you find yourself stuck with dozens of 500s and 1000s to pay for dinner.

      @redmanlaw0002 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Yeah but that's only because the radical Left isn't the same there and also hasn't had enough time to attack him yet. The impeachments against Trump were proven to be purely political attacks and no actual criminal charges were ever filed. The lawsuits against Trump are also not valid crimes and are mostly just civil suits designed to attack Trump's funding and disrupt his campaign, which is just political persecution by corrupt Democrats against their main political opposition. There is literally zero chance for Trump to go to jail despite the lies of the Left and the media. They just want to sue him for his money and to slander him further with more lies. Trump also denounces authoritarian regimes, with the main one in America being the Radical Left Democrat party who have made everything in America worse in record time, helped fund 2 new wars, support criminals, terrorists and illegal immigrants more than our own citizens, while trying to take away the Constitutional rights of the people, preventing people from voting for their main candidate and selling out America to our enemies for corrupt deals and personal gain of the Leftist elites in power. Trump and Milei are both exactly what their countries need most, and most nations would benefit with leaders like them.

I could see him and Trump getting along very well. Argentina will have a huge opportunity if Trump is elected because we can send our production from China, which can't be trusted, to there. Corrupt Joe will only continue to enrich China while weakening the USA.

Milei is not protectionist, Trump is protectionist. Milei wants to stop the Public debit , Milei does not like the companies that live from the State and Trump is in favor of Companies living from the State. Milei does not want the creation of more paper money... Trump and USA generate every day more paper money creating inflation.

Hopefully France (2027) ,Canada (2025) , and US (2024) will follow in their respective presidential elections.

He has the right ideas, like: governments can only give you something if they took it from someone else, business generates wealth and government destroys wealth. It will be interesting to see how he handles government spending and debt reduction. He may create a template that our next governments (state and federal) could adopt.
