    Ringo is miming on a childs drum kit. Never - never - refer to Ringo Starr as "The Drummer" again. If you don't know him you shouldn't react to Beatles music again until you do. Wait. No. Just don't react to them again. You don't know enough. You actually mentioned Coldplay within the same half hour of the Beatles. They couldn't shine the Beatles boots.

    The Beatles produced three promotional films for the song "Hello, Goodbye". The first one shows the Beatles dressed in their Sgt. Pepper uniforms. This song is from the Beatles 1967 album "Magical Mystery Tour". Lots of other great songs on it including the title track "Magical Mystery Tour", "The Fool On The Hill", "I Am the Walrus", "Blue Jay Way", "Your Mother Should Know", "Flying" etc.

    “The guy in blue.” Uh, that would be Paul McCartney. The drummer is Ringo Starr. Those two are still with us. The middle guitarist in kind of peachy orange and wearing the hat is George Harrison. The guitarist in lime green is John Lennon.
    Growing up I heard The Beatles on the radio a lot, even in the early seventies, but didn’t see them on TV very much. Watching them on reaction videos I’ve realized that part of their appeal, aside from the incredible music, was that they had a lot of fun together. They took their music very seriously (even when singing silly songs) but weren’t afraid to show their goofy side.

    This is a promotional video - I doubt they were actually playing. It looks like they are miming to the studio recording. The costumes are what they wore on the cover of the Sgt. Pepper's album. These words may seem simplistic, but listen to the musical arrangement. How the lead guitar follows the same melody as the backing vocals. How the sounds are layered for increasing complexity as the song progresses. The surprise fade out after the false ending. There is thoughtful arranging like this in almost every song in their catalog. Enjoy!

    Michael, I think you are adorable, but you REALLY need to do a little research on The Beatles. To call Ringo Starr "the drummer" and Paul McCartney "the guy in blue" is borderline sacrilege. (this is a little funny if, in your history quest, you learn what John Lennon said about who The Beatles were more popular than.) The fourth one is George Harrison. Come on, there are only four names. Unlike almost every other band that ever was, those of us who were around when they started ALL knew John, Paul, George and Ringo.

    This song is in my Top 5 favorite songs! Their songs are never simple if you listen closely. It’s a song about duality - but I think its meaning goes even deeper. This was right after their manager died and John, George and Ringo were afraid it was the end for them, but not Paul (the optimist and workhorse!) He’s saying, guys, it’s not goodbye, it’s hello. It’s not the end, it’s a new beginning! And McCartney’s middle 8 (where he was locking eyes with you lol) is my favorite part of any song, ever. Obsessed! And the shadow lyrics in verse 3 giving the opposite viewpoint. Genius. 💙💙💙💙

    Hm, why underrated? Beatles have about 100 masterpieces, and people usually react only on few of them. Try "Michelle", "Girl", "All You Need Is Love", nobody reacts to those. The last one is the quintessential song of that generation, and the first two are interesting examples of Paul (the first one) and John (the second one) doing the same thing, only differently, but equally well.

      @debjorgo They did THREE different videos for "HELLO GOODBYE" THIS one was the one that was released officially and is more well known. The SECOND video that was done, Ringo is on his normal kit and the guys are each wearing something different, the style that was typical in 1967. In the THIRD video, they are still wearing the clothes that they are wearing in the SECOND video, but they are not miming, they are just fooling around, dancing, being silly and having fun while the song is played. Ringo is NOW playing an OVERSIZE kit!! For ME, the THIRD video is my favorite. It is SO FUNNY and shows how they loved being silly and just having fun, they NEVER took themselves seriously and that is what we hard core Beatle fans LOVED about them. It's hard to find that third version, but it ALL 3 versions are included in the DELUXE DVD called "1" It contains ALL the promo films and videos that the Beatles ever did. SOME of the 1967 Beatles you see in the current "NOW AND THEN" video were TAKEN from the first "HELLO GOODBYE" video (John and George in their Sgt. Pepper outfits) and some from the THIRD "HELLO GOODBYE" PLUS many of the OUT-TAKES from the THIRD "HELLO GOODBYE" video, much which has never been seen before.

    A worldwide hit in the winter of 1967. Underlined McCartney's talent for writing highly effective pop tracks.
    Other tracks with few lyrics, but very memorable, are for example "Why don't we do it the road" and the Beatles' pre-doom metal track "I want you (she's so heavy)".
    Rarely discussed is the Beatles' early hard rock track "I'm Down" from 1965, with McCartney's vocal cord-shredding rock shouter style. Only the studio version is recommended here; strangely enough, it often lacked the punch live.
    On the same day as "I'm down", McCartney also recorded his all-time classic and musically the completely opposite "Yesterday". Also a track, a fine psychedelic masterpiece by the Beatles, written by Harrison, "It's all too much" deserves more attention.

    Release date 1967, 5 years after first stepping into a recording studio.
    The Beatles are dressed as Sgt Peppper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, the title characters from the famous groundbreaking album.

    They're just having fun lipsynching. See also the video for Stawberry Fields for how they clown around and the video for Penny Lane for a catalog of images from Liverpool. Both of these songs were also on the Magical Mystery Tour album.

    Savoy Truffle, I'm Only Sleeping, Tomorrow Never Knows, Think For Yourself, Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite.

    Whoa just a second. You CANNOT view/judge/analyse video from the LATE 1960S by comparing it with the AI/CGI/digital 255-tracked glossy product of another century.
    When I was an adolescent, I could only see the bands and musicians I was listening to on the pages of magazines. Making music videos was not a thing. Video tape was a gleam in an engineer's eye. The scratchy old video we see of musical performances - in black and white, fer chrissakes - were recorded on FILM and transcribed into today's digital media, and more power to the people who find this treasure and convert into a format that can be played on a computer device which comes with a media player that can tell what you are asking it to play and does so, seamlessly.
    Instead of smirking and slagging off this video and making off-hand comments about what they are playing (or even miming to, as the technology of syncing tape to film is still shonky today) or wearing, you might look past your 21st-century levels of inexperience and thank as many deities as you can name that someone took the time to put a moving image recorded in 1967 onto a screen in your sad little room in 2024. An awful lot of technologies have been developed, introduced, beaten to death and superceded in the last 57 years.
    By the way, anyone who has been listening to The Beatles since 1963 is glad to get these glimpses of one of the best bands to ever walk into a recording studio, and who CHANGED MUSIC FOREVER.

    You have dissed the Beatles. People are annoyed. I'm one of them. You actually couldn't be bothered to learn the NAMES of the band members? You really might as well have pissed on the Statue of Liberty. They were- and forever will be - the Fab Four. Nobody ever did it like them before them, they changed EVERYTHING.

    You dont 'know' 10 to 15 of their songs, youve heard 10 to 15 of their songs. If you KNEW them you'd know! And the drummer, as you called him is Ringo Starr. ( look him up). The Beatles had a proper apprenticeship, playing for many years in Hamburg and pubs and clubs, up and down Britain, fame wasn't instant, but boy when it came, it came and we're still playing and buying their music. Until you can appreciate real talent please still to nursery rhymes.

    They were lip synching. They actually did a pretty good job, but John & Ringo were sort of half hearted... Outtakes from this were used in the Now and Then video...

    In Paul's book "Lyrics", he talks about the song's meaning. There is none. It came from a game he played with their roadie, Mal Evans. One person throws out a word and the other throws out a response. And from that, you build a song. Mal threw out yes, Paul threw out no. Mal said goodbye, Paul said hello.

    I suggest you watch the video channel, Call me Caroline. Caroline is a serious musician who undertook serious research into their music. She listened to their singles and albums in order and learned how they and their amazing music progressed in a very short space of time. And there's so much info about them, try doing some reading and finding out who they really were, instead of using vague terms like 'the drummer' or 'the guy in blue'. It's pretty insulting you dont know. I'm 71 and have loved The Beatles since I was 10. Your flippant attitude is really annoying. And for goodness sakes, shift that jat of mayo!

  • @alanartme1
    @alanartme1 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

    The drummer's name in Ringo Starr. The guy in blue is some guy named Paul McCartney. You might've heard about him. And the song is not that simple. Listen to the last part. Probably the first time a band double tracked a song and made it magical. Not simple at all.

    The "drummer" haha is not "not caring"! He is playing the most minimal fills-completely against expecations. It's actually a form of musical genius to play *nothing* when everyone expects you to play some spectacular fill.. Does that make sense? Oh, and this was a #1 song in the US, so many people agreed it is "magic".

  • @SG-js2qn
    @SG-js2qn 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

    IMO, you might try a hit or two from each of them after the Beatles disbanded, just to try to get a better sense of who they are as individuals.
    The drummer - Ringo - makes everything he's doing look very easy. He plays with a somewhat reserved style, not looking to try to steal the spotlight, but always supporting the band.

    It's jarring how this promotional video is taken by the commentator to be "the song" when it's obviously lip-synched, and that keyboards and strings are dominant on the recording.
