i actually had windows XP on my late 2006 macbook and i put vista on it and idk why but it ran pretty good. but i had these same stupid disk drive issues with mine too untill the disk drive completely ate my offical windows vista disk and died
If there's ever a plan D there is Windows XP Integral Edition that could be added in on the SATA drivers But also who knows if the disk drive lens on the MacBook failed or is very dirty
Not using libreboot/coreboot and not upgrading ram to 6gb? You sir are dead to me. (try using either of aforementioned!) Also try posready 2009, there is a cd key online that perma-activates it: and its a prettier version of xp.

its not working cause xp dont got sata drivers by default, type xp sp3 with sata drivers and click on the internet archive with the july 2023 version
He could just use windows xp integral, it has a lot of other useful patches as well

How to setup windows:
1.put your ssd to another computer
2.install windows
3.put back into macbook
