Windows XP was good. Windows 7 was really good and functional. Then they Came with this Windows 8 and 8.1 crap. Windows 10 is usable i would say, IF you choose the right settings.
@@Rundumsfliegen Windows 10 on the latest update imo is better than Windows 7 (If you have a decent machine) You get access to all the xbox stuff, microsoft store, and you can even play some of your xbox games. It is quite fast too on my machine, i5-2400, GTX 1060 6GB, 10GB RAM.
Windows 2000 professional was better than XP, imho. Had all the compatibility of XP programs, but with less hardware requirements, and excess bells & whistles I never needed.

I love windows xp so many memories especially getting my first brand new custom pc in 2002 from a small shop. I didn't get the xp box but I got the mobo box with the xp, norton 2002, and office xp discs as well as miscellaneous parts for the case and mobo. It's a real shame now these small shops are selling prebuilt acer and HP desktops rather than building custom like they used to.

I am using WIN XP at work for testing PCBs and completed assemblies. It is getting harder to get customers to create XP drivers. Some of them consider it a fun challenge to make tests profiles to run on this old platform. I still love using it and will keep using WIN XP as long as we can.

I just got an IBM Thinkpad T60 with the Mobility Radeon X1300. Every game from 2006 or older runs perfectly. Anything 2007 or newer I'm playing on my RTX 2070 laptop lol. Good times
Yes, it's a big problem when Steam started to drop the support for Windows XP/Vista, recently I wanted to re-play Half Life 2 on my Windows Vista PC, and I even own a copy bought from store, however it still required to connect to internet and Steam to unlock the files copied from CDs, with no support for Vista, now I couldn't play this game on old PC again, that sucks!!
I know the pain you have felt on this machine....pulling my HP Pavilion DV6302tx laptop apart to clean the fan systems and reapply thermal paste etc it was painful! 16 screws just to separate the bottom part then all the others to disconnect the display etc and all other cabling. But it was worth it now that it runs like new.
Why don't you put Linux on it? It's gonna run a loooooot better... Trust me... I have been using Linux for more than 5 years now and I have no problems at all... I suggest running lubuntu on this old machine
Would be interested to see Windows 10 on this (drivers permitting) - and also how Halo runs. I'd love an XP gaming laptop just for playing those games which are difficult to run in Windows 10. I was going to rebuild my old Athlon 64 "TINY" desktop for this but a laptop just makes more sense as it takes up less cupboard space when not in use. Might go for a ThinkPad

I used Windows XP a lot in school. Used it in elementary, middle and high school levels. Really miss it, though. Miss it a lot.

I think the Minecraft lags were caused by RAM. Even if you have enough, MC by default allocates not enough RAM which can lead to such lag spikes.
