  • In the mid-2000s, Acer started sponsoring the Ferrari Formula One team. And they also sold Ferrari-branded computers and peripherals! This is one of them, the Acer Ferrari 4005 WLMi from 2005.

    • @NicolaiSyvertsen

Well there are rich people that would never buy something like this. Generally people with lots of money are also careful with their money. That is why they are rich in the first place. It is far more common for people with medium to low income to spend money on junk. It depends on how you got rich. If you are pop artist or actor then perhaps you are more willing to splurge on luxury items like this but then again it is not uncommon to hear about such people with financial difficulties.

Euro and dollar signs were an Acer thing, I guess. My very first computer was an old Acer laptop and it had those keys in the exact same spot. One curious thing is that the euro sign acted wierdly when I was playing Mugen games, like it would make some characters do some wierd things I was never able to do otherwise.

The F1 team was sponsored by Acer during the early 2000s which is why there's only F1 images as it was a collaboration between the two. Also you need to understand that this would have come out straight after Ferrari just won 5 back to back world titles so people would have wanted them so bad.

"straight after Ferrari just won 5 back to back world titles so people would have wanted them so bad"
Um, you might be projecting just a *bit* there, bud. F1 racing's plenty cool and all, but I doubt there were legions of race fans pissing their pants with excitement for the opportunity to spend $2,000 on a late 90s gaming laptop with Ferrari stickers. There'll always be hardcore fanatics but it's not like they're going to buy 10 laptops each.
      "you need to understand"
Right back atcha. You also failed to mention how Acer's primary marketplace was the US, where F1 racing is a very distant second to NASCAR in popularity.

    • @mayravixx25
      @mayravixx25 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

I completely agree there, the early 2000's were a ton of fun. I remember just messing around in ms paint, writing fanfictions out of my bedroom in notepad, and just watching movies on my Dell Dimension 3000. Wasn't exactly a fast machine, but it did pretty much what I wanted it to. 2012 was a huge turning point for me because that's when I got my eMachines computer, which completely DESTROYED the Dell Dimension 3000, and blew my mind. It's the reason I'm as into tech as I am now, and why I built myself a gaming computer using parts that add up to a good 700 - 800 dollars now. Basically what I'm getting at is that if that old Dell computer running Windows XP wasn't ever given to me when my mom upgraded to a computer running Vista, I probably wouldn't be vibing with friends in Sea of Thieves at 100+ fps on high - max settings today.

It's my first time getting into the old PC hobby even though LGR always intrigued me to. Thanks a million for posting the recovery disks. I burnt them and used them with the factory partition and it worked flawlessly I now have the OEM Ferrari theme with Ferrari startup it's such a blessing. I can't thank you enough Clint.
Btw I know this video is 2 years old doubt you will see my comment but if you need me to somehow backup that recovery partition and send it your way just let me know! Or for anyone who has this PC, just drop a comment

@@LGR it's finally done! Sorry for the delay life and work got in the way, for some reason TH-cam kept removing my comment, I'm assuming because there was a link and TH-cam thought it was scam. None the less, it's on archive, just search "acer Ferrari 4000 recovery partition" or even my user name. It's the same as my TH-cam one. I used AOMEI backupper to retrieve it. If you have any issues just let me know!

Lol I remember being a kid and buying half life 2 and being very upset because I couldn't get it to run at all on my sisters dell pc. It sucked because back then as a kid you had no idea on that stuff so I had to wait years until they released it on console and even that sucked. Just recently at 24 I finally am able to play it. On a fucking 3080 and ryzen 5950x with 32 ram and a psu of 1000 😂😂😂

I remember trying to run games like My Tribe on my old Dell Dimension 3000 and it taking a solid 10 minutes to load. I would've killed for this kinda tech back in 2005. Obviously we have better tech today, and the only game I have to worry about having long load times in is GTA 5 now, but that's pretty much normal.

I had this laptop when I was growing up. The first day I got it, there was 1 or 2 dead pixels and the left speaker blew. I really loved this laptop though.
They keyboard was really comfortable to use and I liked turning on the Bluetooth every time I wanted to use the mouse.
I bought a used one a few years ago, but the rubber on it was horribly sticky and with a 1 core CPU, there wasn't much I was going to do with it. There was also a problem when plugging in USB keys that would create a short and cut the power.
It ended up in the trash. Sad, because I liked that laptop so much more than my Alienware...
