14:23 This is actually interesting. In the first part of Security Breach, Freddy realizes that Gregory is injured. He decides to take him to the first aid station. In the poster, the robot is told NOT to help children no matter how big or small their injury is. Could suggest that Freddy had default back a previous version where he wasn't learning "bad behaviors" around kids. After he glitched out on stage and was reset, seems like he unlearned things. So because of that he went back to safe-mode.
This could make sense in a different wording, and could prove that the ending where Freddy gets ripped up by staff bots and then Gregory completes the Princess Quest arcade machine ending is canon. In FNAF: Ruin when we see Headless Freddy he has Prototype written on his foot, maybe the Freddy in SB was only a prototype but someone painted over the writing so it was like that was the final product. Could explain why Freddy encouraged Gregory to get a map by a map bot and didn’t act like the other animatronics. He wasn’t trained well, so he didn’t have that bad data.
@@Ambush81022 also a possibility. Reason I said this was because Freddy did not remember Gregory (or seemed to not). Secondly, I recall a specific moment that Freddy and Vanessa were talking at Parts and Services. Vanessa also made a comment. I forget the exact wording, but it went like "wait here until they can slap a NEW endo onto you. Monty will take over for now."
I discovered something big, I think. When you realise that “Gregory” is the mimic in ruin dlc it stammers and says I’m Gregory. It just so happens that at the beginning of the main game when freddy pulls gregory out of his stomach and asks who he is, he stammers and says I’m gregory in the same exact way. Coincidence, I think not. I think that the mimic knew something. I think it was listening from the beginning. Heck, mimic could have closed the main entrance. I would love for you to do a video or a short about this.
after finishing the game, yes matpat is right, gregory’s voice was MIMICKED BY a plain endoskeleton with no shell, just like how mat showed it, the main villain was a robot who MIMICKED gregory
i don't know why you're putting emphasis and phrasing like this. Gregory's voice was mimicked by the mimic, it's not a plain endoskeleton, it's an animatronic cobbled together loosely that looks nothing like any other endo, and it's THE Mimic, not just a robot who mimicked gregory
I actually really like MatPat's tone in this video, it's a lot more calm, and it reminds me of his earlier years! I wouldn't mind future videos being more like this!
AI feels a bit disappointing but he was right, I miss the old serial killer story, I am excited to see where it goes later though, security breach shifted the series so much, it throws me off sometimes, it feels like a different story altogether.
@@sxlproductionsFNAF 100 where William tried to make a machine to go to an another universe where he actually make immortal remnant but instead he go to our universe and has to fight Chuck E Cheese animatronics.
I might be late but... The mimic actually uses dialogue that Gregory uses in Security Breach to communicate to Cassie. For example when Gregory introduces himself to Glamrock Freddy by saying, "I- I'm Gregory."
I just realized something after ruin. Vanni wasn’t just Vanessa, it was the mask itself. The implant drove her insane. VANNI being an acronym was a brilliant reveal.
@@vic5971 Spoiler Warning for Ruin. Glitchtrap isn't in the mask. If you're referring to the Purple Rabbit, that's not glitchtrap, it's the Security System that was put in place to prevent the Mimic from being Freed.
Here is my therory (SPOILER) Gregory and Vanessa both wore the mask at somepoint (Controlled by the mimic). Vanessa's evil half being Vanny, and Gregory's evil half being GGY (aggression being a side effect of the Mimic). I believe Gregory some how freed himself from the Mimic's grasp, perhaps by beating an arcade game much like Vanessa's Princess Quest. His could have been the Balloon boy game. This could explain a few things. Why he can see Vanny but Freddy can't. This is also proven in Ruin, when you can have the mask on to protect you from some of the animatronics.(specifically the Endos) Im sure If they were on the same system at one point, they would be able to see eachother. Why Gregory's Vision gets full of Static when vanessa is near him. This is also proven in Ruin when the M.X.E.S. rabbit gets close, Cassie's vision does the same. Why Freddy feels Gregory is "Broken" and why he sees him differently when getting the eye upgrade. Gregory and Cassie have a lot of simularities at this point. Gregory is protected by Freddy, while Cassie is protected by Roxy. Cassies favorite is Roxy, while we can asume Gregory's favorite is Freddy based on his backpack. We know both Freddy and Roxy have something holding them back from hurting Cassie and Gregory. What if Gregory's Dad worked for Fazbear Entertainment aswell like Cassie's?
When they first played fnaf World, didn't mat and steph notice that the map kinda looked like a brain, but ultimately dismissed that idea. It's interesting to see it come back.
It’s scary to think about the animatronics being controlled by AI and not spirits anymore because they now lack any sort of reason. They act solely in response to stimuli based on patterns of behavior. So although the spirits may be gone, the AI will essentially carry on where they left off but with this corrupted data floating around being thrown into the mix.
Part of me still wishes it was supernatural. Cuz now even tho it’s very fiction. It’s kinda realistic fiction. Considering the world we currently live in/the possible futures of Ai
21:32 yes matpat "Gregory" is actually the mimic in the ending. that prediction was spot on Gregory wasn't even in the pizzaplex it was all the mimic's action
So I just watched Markplier's part 1 of Security Breach Ruin, and now I'm watching the theory. Kinda giving me the chills thinking that everything Cassie is hearing is actually not Gregory but the blob...
@itsjustme1596 C'mon .. it was obvious it was a trap and that wasn't Gregory's voice. I was 60% sure it was someone posing as Greg, 40% sure it was actually Greg but he's a little A-hole and 100% that it was a trap ... still the ending got me ... I really wasn't expecting THAT twist ...
Spoiler: I think the real ending of the game is Vanessa ending where Gregory, Vanessa and Head Glamrock Freddy chilling out in a hill while eating ice cream is the real ending hence why there is a headless Freddy. So, the Blob isn't dead along with Afton/Burntrap that still there. Also, Gregory gives an AI named M.X.E.S created by Vanessa to help Cassie but Cassie shut it down. So, Afton lured Cassie through Mimic because he found out Cassie is Gregory's face and Burntrap is still alive. The Vanny mask is also make sense since Vanessa left Vanny mask after Gregory freed her mind by playing all of Princess Quest arcades.
@kpapi2454 My older sister was 5 (I was 4) when we played the FNaF 1 game on her kindle (it came out 2014, a couple months after I turned 4) and when I got my own tablet at 5, I've played it/ kept up with the lore since then. That's 9 years now, approaching a decade!
Mattpatt throws stuff at the wall with what information he can dig up. either it's basically just a story summary, or it's a "Real life logic dictates game can't happen/can happen!" / sans is ness scenario.
i swear i thought this theory was made right just after a few hours of Ruin's release. i was crazy enough to firmly believe that matpat was crazy enough to create a theory just after a few hours of release. then i realized that this was released just before their ruin playthrough.
After finishing Dawko's series on the DLC, and watching this... I can't believe I'm saying this, but he's almost entirely right. He predicted alot of what the DLC offers, an alarming amount infact..
Matpat, once you visit ruin I have an idea. In the elevator ending, b4 Gregory starts apologizing, you hear a squeak. Now, it could be the microphone, but I believe it’s the mimic. it’s the one who apologizes. Not Gregory. Because, in the books, Gregory lures ppl into the pizzaplex and kills them.
It's definitely the mimic or another mimic. There's no way Gregory would just kill Cassie. You see him fine in the second ending, where you turn left. He's out on the hill like he was in SB and you hear him say "I found a hiding spot" like he does earlier when Roxy's introduced.
@@the_bearer_of_truth00I am still really confused why he says that. Can you explain that whole ending in more detail to me please? I Just can't wrap my head around the quote, if it actually means she's safe. I am wondering if that was all just her panicking and getting sucked into the AR world as she dies!?!?!. I am so confused!
@@DoubsGaming there is a 3rd ending were the mimic gets scooped also something i will say is that the ending with him sitting in the hill Is 99% not the true ending because in all other 2 endings in the end roxy says cassys name
I’m not a big AI fan, but I can find amusement in the fact that multiple writing AIs were proven to be web-scraping by the fact that they were well versed on Omegaverse, among other fandom culture things like specific tropes and a few iconic ships.
As someone who’s been writing omegaverse fanfiction since it was first conceptualized, that had me absolutely reeling. My Voltron mpreg could actually end up in a viable news source someday. What a world!
Another indicator of an AI in the early games, Henry had built animatronics which were suppose to have the ability to identify predator's from a criminal database. I believe this was in FNAF2?
How to stop devs from changing the lore to make you wrong: release the theory a few hours after the game releases and then release the play though an hour later.
@@windtheleaf8606I don’t think he was hating, just pointing out how matoat decided to bypass game developers changing their story so that it seems like the twists actually twisted. Which makes for a bad story.
I think ruin did great in telling us a story where the roles have been filled, but with a twist. We have the mimic, the fearful reflection of Williams actions, born from the hate Henry beat into it when it pretended to be his kid. A dark puppet in a way. Then, in ruin we had a rabbit AI do everything it could to stop the mimic. An AI so desperate to stop it, if only it could enter the real world. A Charlie bot and its rabbit stalker, both caught in between other things going on, things bigger than them.
i feel like i should point this out (it may have been already but i just wanna say it) ALSO ⚠️SPOILERS⚠️ So the main character of RUIN is named “Cassie” Sound familiar? Cassidy. I don’t know the parallels because its 4am and i’m tired but I just wanted to bring it to everyones attention (again, i apoligize of this has already been said)
ollie: “hey dad can you tell me a story?” dadpat: “sure son, back in my day I was young and spry, until the fnaf lore came, it came without warning, scaring me for many years.”
its a cool bit that when you enter the roxy party garage and 'gregory' says "i finally have a clear signal" you can tell his voice is kind of getting more ai-ey and like stitched together. or it may just be me who thinks it sounds like that, either way its cool
Wonder if the fact that if you train AI using information from AI you end up with hallucinations, has an impact on the lore of FNAF. At this point if there is all this AI, some of it was trained on other AI.
I had a thought. If mom Afton is the CEO, the mastermind in the pizzaplex, and she was just trying to rebuild the family and wasnt malicious, her giving the mimic program to the vr game devs could make sense. She could have given the mimic program because she really just thought it could work like an advanced ai for the game or that it'd just mimic William's entire character from game events, not really thinking that it'll just see the murdery bits. So when she realizes that it's absolutely dangerous and couldn't be controlled from Jeremy's case, she tried to stop it and try something else but it was too late, so she just had to work with it.
That would make sense, but she'd be like 90 in security breach. Plus, her marriage would have been dead for 50 years, so there's no way she would actually do that
@@kennethanyadike8061 never been confirmed, Ballora might have been our first instance in game of AI replicating a person (which fits with the other general theory that Ballora was based on her out of grief for her leaving and not much more.)
My main issue here is that the AI would not know about the puppet. We could just hand wave it away as visual storytelling, that the wires were puppet themed just tell us who was running the pizza plex, but I feel like such a huge, physical, visual design choice can’t be meant to be ignored and only thought of metaphorically
the mimic is definently the “thing” in the sinkhole at the end of ruin. Also, because it can fit into any space, hence the form it takes in one of the endings. It also mimics gregory’s voice to lure in cassie.
@@watermellyn Yes but again Mat said it was a mess of wires, but if the legs can shrink like a bunch of steampunk gears only under Mimic's control then that would make sense as well, plus maybe Steel Wool revamped the Mimic. 🤔 I mean Scott Cawthon didn't work on Ruin right? 💀
@@watermellyn If Scott Cawthon didn't work on Ruin, then that means why the Mimic looks like that, even the Blob is in the game as a cameo, thus confirming that they are 2 different entities.

@@dumpsterbabies8453 yes almost everyone guessed it was a trick the second the ruin teaser came out. Soon later the mimic book came out basically revealing to us what the whole dlc was going to be about
By the way, "bad data = bad results" is a general concept in computer science called GIGO (garbage in, garbage out): flawed or nonsense (garbage) input data (the "training data" in the case of AI) produces nonsense output (how the AI behaves). It's somewhat analogous to the effect of propagation of uncertainty: measurement errors propagate (grow quickly) when you use those uncertain measurements to calculate something else.
Okay has anyone noticed though how inefficient the layout of the pizzaplex is tho? It never seems to end and it has rooms inside rooms!! Like it’s probably the size of a country!
The devs designed it to be like a real mall, which ended up making it a pretty bad video game map overall, it's one of the biggest problems with SB gameplay-wise. Ruin streamlined this by basically having you go in a straight line through corridors occasionally opening up into larger sections before funneling you back into corridors AKA the Deus Ex Human Revolution approach to level design
I literally just relistened to the Total FNaF Timeline, and I gotta say, it’s one of the most comprehensive full stories I’ve ever seen. MatPat, the entire Theory crew, and all the Theoryists at home, did so much work putting it together and I wanted to tell you how well done it really was! ♥️😁
Actually, MatPat's "everyone is AI" theory is not very grounded because if you listen to the voice lines of Springtrap in the FNAF AR game, you can clearly notice that he's repeating the words from UCN, and UCN is not a canon game in the game's universe. Which means that Nightmarionne in FNAF SB would also hold no ground if it weren't for her role in UCN.
@@xM0nst3Rxhy are you not considering UCN as canon game? It's just all in William's head, when he got burnt. And as AI is made based on him - those lines can be the same, because it probably was fed similar or the same lines over and over again. I mean he said a lot of UCN lines before UCN happened.
I like how he used the little baby heads to justify his reasoning for William testing AI, but not the literal animatronic that lives in a computer from the same location
18:03 kind of reminds me in the books when the puppet joined the afton amalgamation Elenor booked it as far away as she could like but from the looks of things the puppet went down with the amalgamation.
I do have one question though, about the original mimic and its creator Edwin. When Edwin left the mimic and fnaf took it back, how did it learn to kill someone? If the AI learned from either Edwin or the child before his kid died, how did it know how to kill a human being? yet again, Bad data = Bad results. maybe mat pat can make another video? about Edwin's mimic and how it learned to kill a human? please see this @GameTheory
I just want to note here that I feel particularly proud of myself for, when Matpat showed the FNAF World Map, I immediately had a slight "aha" moment and said to myself "its a brain" and then I paused, moused over the timeline around 30 seconds ahead to see the side-by-side of the map and a brain and I am now here congratulating myself
I thought it was a motherload, but then thought the same as you!, wait this is all laid out but in a 3D form it would take the shape of a brain, that's pretty innovative way of seeing things
Matpat is exactly accurate, in ruin there is a robot named mimic, who lures cassie to the pit to kill her, and in the secret ending the mimic wears a mascot costume
13:43 I have an idea for this: The girl looks like Cassidy and maybe She somehow has crying child's Memories because in the logbook She asks question about the Fredbear plush , the birthday ecc In the logbook there's also a picture of a girl reciving a cake from puppet on a Page Who talks about the "happiest day".

@the_goat-not yea I know it just gets annoying sometimes, and this is coming from a kingdom hearts fan
Tf you mean, this theory is totally wrong
Here is my therory (SPOILER)
Gregory and Vanessa both wore the mask at somepoint (Controlled by the mimic).

I think the real ending of the game is Vanessa ending where Gregory, Vanessa and Head Glamrock Freddy chilling out in a hill while eating ice cream is the real ending hence why there is a headless Freddy.

I think ruin did great in telling us a story where the roles have been filled, but with a twist.
Wow yes
I thought she was dead in ballora?
That would make sense, but she'd be like 90 in security breach. Plus, her marriage would have been dead for 50 years, so there's no way she would actually do that

@@kennethanyadike8061 never been confirmed, Ballora might have been our first instance in game of AI replicating a person (which fits with the other general theory that Ballora was based on her out of grief for her leaving and not much more.)
