Hi Bro , I got the codes 42 and 54 on my yj 1994, what does these codes stand for, I also have an issue when the car rpm is low it's start to choke like it's goning to shut off but when the rpm is high it's okay , this issue happens when the car is cold once it's hot the issue becomes a little bit better
I forgot to mention that , I already cleaned the fuel injectors, cleaned the throttle body, I also sprayed wd40 on the manifold but it was fine , I also changed the fuel filter, but still can't figure out what is the problem with it
Awesome video garage couple I'm so glad I stumbled across this video because I feel that this might correct my problem with my caliber I was having trouble starting it after doing some repair I got inpatient and stupidly decide to jump the main relay when I should have did a throttle relearn. I changed the throttle body before this repair and had the red light in bolt when I jumped the relay. But I did get it started after a few difficult tries but after the first day have had no luck I do not show any voltage in tipm fuse spots 22,23,24,26 which powers up cam shaft, crank shaft sensors, fuel pump, ignition and two relays your talking about in your video. what do you suggest I do to correct my mistake of jumping main relay I am not confident with electrical but can follow directions please any advise would be much appreciated
3 years ago I started making an all-aluminum camper cause Covid shut things down...good to see other people took advantage of the down-time, learned and did things! I just finished the camper and now I'm working on my old RAM with the same syptoms as your jeep, so thanks for the list of things I need to check!
Guys you are awesome.... my brother is a mechanic , and since I’m injured we couldn’t figure out what was wrong with it. He changed everything and nothing, after watching this video, he checked the fuse box and there was no ground to the ASD relay. He fixed it in 2 minutes!!!
I am grateful to stumble on this video, my XJ decided to stall out and it turned out to be something similar with the wiring at the fuel rail, an Uber to the part store for a fuse and a roll of electrical tape got me home, your video got me looking in the right direction. Thanks for sharing.
D Perry You said it hasn’t happened to you yet what did you learn from this video to keep it happening to you? Hopefully your answer is I’m going to strap down my battery. LMAO😂 you’re welcome everyone💁
The technical information is greatly appreciated but seen a young couple making a great team is inspiring, our society needs more examples like yours and I thank you for that. Keep it up 🥳!
nothing better than stepping through a successful diagnosis. i’m fighting with a 2007 jeep commander myself. i cant get ground on the relays. i might try jumping the asd if i run a separate ground wire from the relay i can get it to crank but it won’t start. might be a bad pcm. trying to figure a good way to diagnose that
You guys are super fun. I found you because I had a similar issue. but I started with the fuel on my 98 TJ. I checked the pressure and it was not priming, I could prime it then at some point it would lose the prime again, So I replaced the pump. After replacing the pump it would start well it started but it sputtered and backfired. Then all of a sudden I lost all of the gauges on the dash. so I was pretty bummed and at that point I lost the aldl and was sunk. Then I let it sit for a couple of days and went out with a test light and rechecked all of the fuses again. None were bad and it still wouldn't start. I then decided I was going to do a pinout on the computer like you guys, and I didn't find any issues so I was scratching my head, and out the plugs back on the computer. I then noticed that the gauges started working again and I had access to my ALDL, so I turned it over and it started right up. SO now it runs, but anything over 70 miles an hour it sputters and spits. So I need to do what you did and follow the wires and make sure I don't have any issues like you, but that is tedious and takes a while. For now it drives around town without issues. Thanks for this video it was really helpful.
My problem is with the fuel relay on an XJ same thing the groung for the ASD and Relay on same circuit. I had sent it out and go it back with an external ground wired in. WoW I will check this out and I'm very hopeful you've shown me the problem as I wasn't happy about the external grd. Thanks
3:16 The center terminal of the relay is 87a. That's the normally closed position. Apparently, Garage Couple is referring to jumping between 30 and 87, far right and center-left in this video. That would simulate the relay closing and cause the starter to crank.
Also when I'm changing an in tank fuel pump and need to drain the tank of fuel I disconnect the fuel line & run it to a gas can then jumper the same pins on the fuel pump relay. Much easier than jamming a hose down the fill tube & siphoning the gas and no nasty taste of gas when trying to prime the siphon hose.
@@johngreen6643 Every time I've dropped a fuel tank it's because I needed access to the broken fuel pump inside the tank. But that's a good tip for occasions when the pump is still good.
I’m having the same problem on my 1997 jeep wrangler 2.5l and I switched out the the coil and wire and spark plug and fuel pump. It still would crank over but not start so I checked the spark again and didn’t get any spark so I jumped the relay and got spark but it’s still not wanting to start up?
I’m actually having this problem too, asd relay shutout. I checked the wiring, I tested the CPS and bought one just in case “didn’t work” and bought a new coil, bought a new cam sensor and still having the same cranking over problems. If you could possibly help I’d appreciate it. Also glad you found your issue
Sorry to hear about that. Seems like you have checked everything we would have checked. Sorry we aren't of any help. Good luck and make sure to keep us posted!
Excellent diagnosis on the ASD. I have a JK and my ASD has tripped the fuse a couple of times. Now, I also own an LJ and I was hoping to get away from computer issues and was sad to watch this video and see that I still have the chance of computer issues. The JK is constantly in Check Engine light mode ever since the electronic sway bar disconnect shorted out in a stream crossing. Thank you for the video and congrats on finding the burnt/frayed wires.
Hey bud I have the same issue crank no start. Fuses are good, Both the fuel pump and ASD relays clicks. new fuel pump still has no power to the pump. What could be the problem
Hi, I have a 98 Wrangler with exact same problem. it will crank and crank but no start. What would you recommend as first diagnostic step(s)? I replaced the distributor and am pretty sure I did it right. there is fuel in the fuel rail...I will replace spark plugs tonight but I feel hopelessly lost and cant afford a mechanic bill right now. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Similar issue on my 1997 Dodge B1500 conversion van. (basically a 3.9L Ram Truck under the hood) And today I said to my father, "We should just shove a penny in the ASD." Now that I see your DID bridge the relay to test, I'll probably actually try it. But, my question is... When the ASD closes correctly, do you get one click; or two? Because when we turn the key to pre-crank position, I hear and feel the ASD click once; then 1 second or less later; I hear/feel it click again. So the PCM is successfully sending a ground. But that 2nd click could be the PCM disengaging the ground. We've already replaced the crank & cam sensors, coil, distributor cap, rotor, plugs AND plug wires. (A lot of it was cheap, and sending it to a garage would probably get into 4-digits quick, so why not just buy and change EVERYTHING it could be?) Today I confirmed the wire-continuity between the coil and the computer and between the coil and the ASD relay by stripping them just before their mountings. Anyway, if the relay is closing, and then opening again -- which is what it sounds like... Either the computer is sensing a real, genuine misalignment and refusing to start the engine to protect it, or the PCM is just... wrong and bad. That's my guess, anyway. Anything you can add is greatly appreciated.
I have a 1997 Dodge Dakota Sport that went had the motor replaced with the same 5.2L and now when I turn on the key the auto shut down relay clicks rapidly. And no spark. I don’t know what to do. Any ideas???
Been a mechanic for 35 years , but this one has me stumped.. I have checked everything , I have a click at the ASD but still have crank no start.. replaced the CPS , and still no go.. any ideas ??
Have a 95 xj starts and runs fine. Drive it 10 to 15 miles shut it off .when start to drive again it acts like it wants to stall no gas peddle response. Shut down 20 to 30 minutes later runs fine.
I have a 2014 JKU, It shut down while rolling down the road last week. After scanning it threw the Po688 code ECM/PCM power relay Sense Cir/ open. I checked for corrosion on the pins of the relay, detecting none, I replaced then discovered that the 25amp fuse marked ASD #1 and #2 was blown. Replacing that solved my problem for a week. Last night I blew three of those fuses in the space of the last 2 miles to home (stopping 3 times to replace that fuse). HERES THE QUESTION! could it be a crowbar circuit relay that is designed to pop that fuse as a safety? In other words, is that relay popping that fuse by design in order to protect the engine?
Hey I have a 2003 4.7 jeep I replaced my motor and I'm trying to fire it up for da first time but I'm getting a crank no start and I have the key symbol on dash I've looked at everything made sure all connectors are tight on and all please help and from u said in the vid my old motor got destroyed and locked up idk if da asd has a part to play in this da crank was chewed up 3 pistons tore up everything inside da block including da block I'm looking at da asd and pcm and even possibly da skim reader idk help me out
This is a great tip and fix. Thanks for this. Hopefully I don’t have this problem, but if I do I know where to start looking.. Keep up the great work..
Proper planning got this video done before the lift. Great work. Now that the life is done lets see some day trips. Just stay 6 feet apart. Cheers!!! Almost up to 4K subs sweet.
Appreciate the post and comment! Yes, we were able to sneak this in before the lift so we could drive it in the lift video! We've had some pretty busy days but we are hoping to have a day trip out soon!
Good deal I’m working on my wrangler , its not getting fire just cranks . Wish I was were your at on problem,I tried what you did but that wasn’t it still scratching my head today , lol thinks for video didn’t know about the ASD .
I have a 2004 Chrysler Pacifica that has ASD code last week but now it's not there so this is good info for me to take a look at. You'll are awesome thanks
I'm so happy for you guys that you got that fix I'm having the same problem with my Chrysler 300M the ASD is clicking so I'll try what you did to see if I can get it working nice video
Hi there. My issue is that the ASD FUSE was blown. So I replaced and it fired right up but unfortunately as I suspected it blew the FUSE again, to me indicating there is a wiring fault somewhere. Mine is a 2014 though and I believe also has the O2 sensors on this circuit. I guess I have to painstakingly check all associated wiring to find a wre grounding out (?). Also I am not sure of failed O2 sensors' state, if they will be in a short circuit co dictionary causing the FUSE to blow or not. I guess I can disconnect all the O2s and try to see if it doesn't blow the FUSE. Any advise would be great. Thanks. Great video BTW
My 2003 jeep playing with TJ I was having transmission issues I was just cranking it up while it was sitting in the yard the back washer that controls the clutch was rattling very loud I crank it up heard the rattling cut it off went to crank it up again and nothing no fire going to my spark plugs on the coil
Hi you guys are awesome I have a 96 jeep Cherokee my problem is if the check engine light doesn't flash on the dashboard it doesn't start please help me out thanks
Very interesting ASD discussion. My problem is quite a bit different -- but similar, go figure! Very infrequently, like months apart, I will be driving along without any problem and my 2007 Grand Cherokee just stalls -- no engine light, all electrical power okay. So I pull over, put vehicle in park, restart without any problem and away I go. Maybe weeks, or months later -- boom!!, same thing happens again. Park, start and away I go again. Obviously we are not taking it out on the highway, only back roads -- can you imagine the danger of driving at 60mph and having this happen? Anyway, swapped the ASD with the relay for the HVAC (same relay) yesterday and will see if the problem reoccurs -- but it sure would be nice to know if it is "really fixed". Oh, by the way, the error code is the same P0688 you mentioned in your ASD video.
Hello and thanks for the comment! Sorry to hear about your issues. That sounds like a parking or neutral switch in the transmission. In any case I'd change out all of the electric switches like the crank and cam position sensors, transmission sensors, etc. Cheap and quick and hopefully fixes your issue
My Jeep rear axle broke and shut me down immediately. I am almost positive that the ASD shut everything down for safety purposes my question is now, how do I reset this or get it right again? I am learning step by step on here and it does boggle the mind sometimes. Great video.
This was only the latest symptom, my first problem was the jeep would retain ignition power or some ignition power after I turned the key off, resulted in my Jeep staying running even with the key taken out. Then it started dying while driving and one day it wouldn’t start back up, I noticed the ASD relay was hot so I replaced it with the horn relay and it started right up and now issues seem to have all gone away, not convinced it’s fixed but this may be a problem I have As well. Thanks for your video
I’m having problems with a 2001 jeep wrangler. I’m working on this vehicle with a group of people in my automotive class. The ASD relay does not click, and the pcm is getting the power and ground that’s needed in the connectors. I also have no communication to the vehicle. I check my 5v reference circuit and was only getting .40 volts with key on. I started unplugging sensors except the crank, cam, and battery temp sensor because I ran out of time that day. But my main question is do the ASD relay have to be active to receive 5 volt supply?
Thanks for the video. As an electronics maintenance tech, I highly recommend checking out "solder wire connectors"!! Electrical tape is a %@^#& later on. One question tho, did the failed asd cut off fuel also or just spark? My jeep has no spark, but it's flooding with fuel.
96 grand Cherokee with 5.2L. I am not getting ground for the ASD or fuel pump relays. I provided ground signal to both of them and I get fuel pressure at the rail and I can see the ASD relay actuate with the housing removed. Engine cranks but does not start. I checked with a test light at the injectors and I have constant 12v to them while starting and I do not have spark either. Any experience with something like this?
You presented this video in a very simple and direct, easy to understand way. I've watched this video several times trying to understand why my 2006 Jeep fuel pump was not receiving power. I have a jumper wire with 30 amp fuse for terminals 30 and 86 which can power fuel pump if needed. Original problem was failed computer at 100,000 miles. Bought computer from WranglerFix which was able to start engine, shortly after fuel pump was not powered, put new fuel pump in, it failed, bought new OEM from Jeep, it failed, BUT WHY ? Fuel pump is good, fuel pump relay is good, WranglerFiix computer and backup computer both good, wiring is good, but every couple weeks Jeep will not start because fuel pump will not run ! Any ideas ?
@@Garagecouple All pertinent wiring has continuity and is in very good condition. Confusing thing is, by taking out the 'failed fuel pump' and putting in the previously failed fuel pump the engine will run just fine, then it will fail, take out the fuel pump, put in the old previously failed pump and it will run the engine bench testing the fuel pumps also show them to be good ! I'm at a loss as to what is causing this problem. I do thank you for your input as to how this problem may be fixed.
That is way beyond our pay grade. It seems like you've exhausted your options. At this point I would replace all related parts, make sure nothing is shorting out (even if it has continuity), and go from there.
2011 Dodge Charger Rt 5.7 engine, No power to the front fuse box ASD fuse or relay. I moved the fuse and relay to other positions and they are ok. Car will not start after I installed lifter. I have replaced cam shift sensor, Crank shift sensor, knock sensor, Map sensor, new fuel injectors, cleaned spark plugs and reset them. HELP
Hey guys what you mean when you're talking about the asd relay on your video around minute 3 to 3.20 when you say (unless you're done the TSB you'll get 12 positive volts constant) because I have 12 positive volts in both first one and the top left one, with out ignition on what's the TSB ?
I have a 2011 jeep wrangler Sahara unlimited and I am getting the ASD and the jeep won't crank or start. I swapped the relays and no change. I think it's the nutrial safety switch but to replace it is so hard as it's in the transmission. Can you please help?
I have a 2002 Dodge Ram pickup could this be the same issue I am having I have tried everything replacing relays and fuses replace the crank trigger the truck just died one morning right after restarting it from the remote start
Interesting..the factory just did a fuse block wiring repair [ recall ]auto shutdown relay I believe..my fuel pump is not getting power all the time.. the ecm controls the fuel pump relay..terrible wiring by Dodge
Awesome video, helps immensely. Going through similar issue (intermittent stalling), and now I have some stuff to test out and investigate. Might just solve my problem...
@@Garagecouple VBG I cleaned up the grounds, and tested all the cam & crank sensor wires, all good. Everything was pointing to the crank sensor, which turned out to be the problem. Now solved. I learned a lot about the importance of methodical diagnosis. Probably the most important skill for a mechanic.
Nice Work!!! glad you got it going... im currently replacing my front control arms and trying to untangle my winch cable from recovering 4 different people when we went offroad this past weekend. wish me luck lol
I have a 2000 dodge 1500 5.9 gas , the scan tool reads no communication with ECM, I have 12 volts to ECM, and 5 volts at throttle position sensor. What should I be looking for?
I hope you can reply , I have a 95 Jeep Cherokee with a crank no start issue. I reverse polarity, jumped it with jumper cables, and now my jeep won’t start. I have no fuel and no spark have replaced all the relays, Ignition coil, cap, and still no start. Any idea what could be the issue?
Hi , i have same jeep but my issue is when ever i leave 02 sensor wire connected it makes my fuel pumps wear out really fast, so i unplugged 02 sensor wire and now fuel pump has lasted long time , what could be the issue? are they on same circuit where causing to much amps to fuel pump? through the ASD ty good channel
Great video. I think I'm closer now to solving my intermittent stall. When the jeep warms up it stalls and it won't start until, with the key in "run" I hear the fuel pump kick on. I read that the ASD relay controls that so it seems I'm getting a short that tells the ASD that power is off then on. I've tries two ECMs. Which wire was the brown one that was broken called? My cherokee is a little different relay than the wrangler.
Hello and thank you for the information. I was about to buy a new crankshaft sensor but decided to try your ASD bypass. It started right up. Now my question is how do you know for sure, by doing this bypass, that it isn't the crank or cam sensors causing it not to start? Could it still be a bad crank or can sensor? Thanks!
my daughters jeep tj just stopping, trying the trick with the asd but zero, turns over but nothing ,also tried the 3 turns with the ignition but nothing 😩
Awesome content. This crank no start issue I’m having is pointing me to the asd for my issue on my ram 1500. I traced it to the asd relay. I have 12 bolts at both points and I have a bad grounding. I did the jump method and the truck turned over but ran like garbage and would shut down right after letting off the gas. I have changed the crankshaft sensor already and found frayed wires at the sensor. No idea where to go next!!!
Make sure you have good signal from the cranksensor , fix the frayed wires ' fix the ground . check the throttle body and idle air control valve for carbon buildup and clean with throttle body cleaner if needed , check internet for how too also check air filter and replace if needed .point is when you have the gas peddle depressed you allow more air into the throttle body and when you let off the gas you restrict airflow , this is where a clean iac value and clean throttle body come into play. Hope this helps.
Working on a liberty jeep that complains ASD relay circuit. I've checked he circuit and every current supposed to be available on the bunch is except for the negative that comes from the pcm, traced the line into the pcm socket and it reads okay. Changed the pcm but still have same issue, took negative from another relay into the ASD relay but problem still persists and the fault code keeps repeating itself. Please share idea on this friend. Thanks.
I was wondering if I could get some help I’m have trouble with the asd fuse it keeps blowing at random points completely shutting down the car I replaced it and it starts right up, I’ve replaced the relay and no change.
My car keeps dying while I'm driving or at a stop... Not sure what it is the battery is good and the alternator are good. It does even if I'm trying to pump the gas it just shuts down. I do have an aftermarket radio that was recently installed a few months ago don't know if that could be part of the problem..
I get codes for bad relay circuits for my fuel pump, hi and lo radiator fans, and my asd, would this all be caused from a bad asd circuit or are they all bad and i have a bigger problem?
96 Grand Cherokee chokes and dies when outside temp is over 75degrees. Starts after 30 min, goes a few miles and does it again. Don't have this issue in winter. Already changed O2 &crank senors, ECM. Any idea what's causing this? Taken to 3 shops, they couldn't figure it out.
I need HELP. I have a 2002 Jeep Wrangler 2.5. We did an engine swap with same engine but now we have crank no start no spark. Replaced cam sensor and crankshaft sensor but still won’t start any ideas please help
Seriously, it literally couldn't have been timed worse. I was thinking the LED tail lights did it or even the recall work I performed myself. It had me completely stumped but fortunately we were able to source the problem! Happy jeeping!
I just noticed my 1997 jeep cherokee fuse box panel has no ASD relay installed🤔 should l suspect it's been bypassed? Because I'm afraid to plug one in 😰
Hi guy this video is really good one, I have a 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 2X4 5.2 and the cluster show the mileage and after a few seconds the mileage blink and they go away and shows (no bus) I check the asd pins and I have 12V constant on both and on your video you said one has to be 12V with switch on unless you're done with you TSP both pins will have 12V constant I have no idea what you mean so I'm lost can you help please!!!
Hi …I have problems with the asd. Sometimes this car starts sometimes doesn’t …I checked the ground continuity from asd relay ground to computer there’s continuity but no ground from computer ..it happens sometimes. …what sensors are connected to the esd
i had a similar problem with a 1993 jeep wrangler 4.0 automatic trans i tried pcm coil, and the crank sensor on bell housing. The auto shutdown relay wouldn’t engage thus no fire and power to fuel pump relay neither. I found the grey harness plug-in in middle of firewall was burnt in many wire slots. Cut plug-ends off and soldered them together and wham 💥 thank you maam😂😂
Hey, I have a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee, that I am getting a code for the ASD, and a no start, when I checked the actuation, it engages for a couple second and then disengages, what types of things can ASD to shut down after a few seconds before the car is even started?
Great video. I have a weird problem with my 2012 Jeep Liberty. Randomly, it will have what I can only describe as an incomplete ignition? It cranks and starts, but it feels like the crank cycle is short, and then it feels like the car is only firing on 2 cylinders, bumping around and making puffing noises, and I can't give it any gas, the RPMs dont move. I shut it down and wait a minute, and it fires right up. Could the ASD be a possible issue? Thanks for any info
@@Garagecouple I actually just replaced the ASD relay just because it was so cheap, figured it couldn't hurt. So far no weird starts, and oddly enough, it also cleared a faulty tire pressure alert I was getting for a week or so on top of that. Fingers crossed it stays good. Appreciate the response.
Look at the OBD2 diagnostic codes and first suspect O2 (oxygen sensors) before and after your catalytic converter. Buy some MAP sensor cleaner - DON'T use carb cleaner. Then recheck the OBD2 code

Guys you are awesome.... my brother is a mechanic , and since I’m injured we couldn’t figure out what was wrong with it. He changed everything and nothing, after watching this video, he checked the fuse box and there was no ground to the ASD relay. He fixed it in 2 minutes!!!
I'm so glad you guys had a positive experience! Glad the video helped and God bless! 🍺
How did you fix it?
I am grateful to stumble on this video, my XJ decided to stall out and it turned out to be something similar with the wiring at the fuel rail, an Uber to the part store for a fuse and a roll of electrical tape got me home, your video got me looking in the right direction. Thanks for sharing.
Good luck!
Hands down best explanation and troubleshooting video. You may become my jeep guy. Lol we will see in the morning
You saved my life bro you have no idea how thankful I am for you.
I really appreciate the heads up on these types of quirky issues. It hasn’t happened to me (yet), but knowledge is power! Keep up the good work!
Thank you for the support! Trying to find a positive in all these issues we are experiencing!
D Perry You said it hasn’t happened to you yet what did you learn from this video to keep it happening to you? Hopefully your answer is I’m going to strap down my battery. LMAO😂 you’re welcome everyone💁

nothing better than stepping through a successful diagnosis. i’m fighting with a 2007 jeep commander myself. i cant get ground on the relays. i might try jumping the asd if i run a separate ground wire from the relay i can get it to crank but it won’t start. might be a bad pcm. trying to figure a good way to diagnose that
Figure out your problem with your Jeep
Yup, bypassing the relay..
Thank you so much for breaking this down. Did not mention the relay numbers in the video and mine is different
I'm in the same boat with my 04 wj 4.0.
wonder if your jeep has that 10 amp fuse for the ASD in the holder on the driver's side of the dash ie my Ram 1500?
Excellent diagnosis on the ASD. I have a JK and my ASD has tripped the fuse a couple of times. Now, I also own an LJ and I was hoping to get away from computer issues and was sad to watch this video and see that I still have the chance of computer issues. The JK is constantly in Check Engine light mode ever since the electronic sway bar disconnect shorted out in a stream crossing. Thank you for the video and congrats on finding the burnt/frayed wires.
Thank you so much! Fortunately that LJ has a very basic computer system and is ultra easy to fix
@@Garagecouple That makes me feel better. Thank you.
(A lot of it was cheap, and sending it to a garage would probably get into 4-digits quick, so why not just buy and change EVERYTHING it could be?)
Today I confirmed the wire-continuity between the coil and the computer and between the coil and the ASD relay by stripping them just before their mountings.
Good luck!
98 ZJ Fixed! Yep Thx to Ur Vid, Thank You Both! Cheers from Mex. City!
Woooohooooo!
I have a 1997 Dodge Dakota Sport that went had the motor replaced with the same 5.2L and now when I turn on the key the auto shut down relay clicks rapidly. And no spark. I don’t know what to do. Any ideas???
Good explanation, your interpretation in very clear detail, and your video very enjoyable thanks for the information
Thank you so much! The reason we do this is to help others!
Been a mechanic for 35 years , but this one has me stumped.. I have checked everything , I have a click at the ASD but still have crank no start.. replaced the CPS , and still no go.. any ideas ??
Awww you guys are PRECIOUS!!! and HELPFUL!!! God Bless yall!!! PLJ "peace love joy" :)
I have a 02 town and country my asd relay is getting hot my van just shut off and no crank I'm about to check harnesses like you did will update
Good luck!
Have a 95 xj starts and runs fine. Drive it 10 to 15 miles shut it off .when start to drive again it acts like it wants to stall no gas peddle response. Shut down 20 to 30 minutes later runs fine.
If you were my wife I wouldn't be able to even consider staying 6 feet away.
You guy are one of my favorite Jeep channels.

I got a o4 wrangler 2.5 no fule or spark fule pump is good I by passed to check
Hi, I'm not 100% sure, but it sounds like its a safety feature
I am having this exact problem. It went dead after hitting a huge pothole. What was the solution you found?
Hey I have a 2003 4.7 jeep I replaced my motor and I'm trying to fire it up for da first time but I'm getting a crank no start and I have the key symbol on dash I've looked at everything made sure all connectors are tight on and all please help and from u said in the vid my old motor got destroyed and locked up idk if da asd has a part to play in this da crank was chewed up 3 pistons tore up everything inside da block including da block I'm looking at da asd and pcm and even possibly da skim reader idk help me out
I am having same type of issue on my chrysler 200. I'm gonna check the wires to see if I have a faulty one. Great video.

2006 jeep commander 5.7L why do you think that sometimes the ASD relay clicks rapidly and no vehicle start
I have a 2004 Chrysler Pacifica that has ASD code last week but now it's not there so this is good info for me to take a look at. You'll are awesome thanks
Good luck and thanks for the kind words!
Will the ASD relay have your truck run for a while then it would shut off then sometime cranks back up.
2004 wrangler 2.4 liter, got power but no crank at all. Did the code check and it just says done !?!?
Oh man good luck!
What year is your Jeep?
My Jeep rear axle broke and shut me down immediately. I am almost positive that the ASD shut everything down for safety purposes my question is now, how do I reset this or get it right again? I am learning step by step on here and it does boggle the mind sometimes. Great video.
Hope its fixed by now. You will have to test each component one by one. GLad you are safe
I just found this video. I'm having problems with the asd. My jeep xj was running perfectly one minute and wouldn't start the next.
Thanks for the video. My key is working intermittently maybe the actuator is going out
Could be
I’m having problems with a 2001 jeep wrangler.
Hello I have a question for you and I hope you can tell me how to fix it . 1993 jeep yj 4.0 auto shutdown problem
I believe it's both fuel and spark. Cheers!
I have a 1995 yj 2.5, new fuel pump, sent pcm away to have tested (good). Cranks over good but will not fire.
Great video---informative & entertaining. Thx for posting!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Any ideas ?
Sorry to hear this! Try a different computer.
@@Garagecouple I have two computers, both are certified good. Plus original OEM computer certified bad...
@@paulpurdue5963 that's tough. Might be a short somewhere. Sorry about that
@@Garagecouple All pertinent wiring has continuity and is in very good condition.
Ahh shoot. Sorry we aren't able to help. hope you got it figured out!
Hey guys what you mean when you're talking about the asd relay on your video around minute 3 to 3.20 when you say
(unless you're done the TSB you'll get
12 positive volts constant) because I have 12 positive volts in both first one and the top left one, with out ignition on what's the TSB ?
It's the service bulletin repair by jeep
So it's normal that do I have 12V constant positive on both plugs with the ignition switch off
I have a 2011 jeep wrangler Sahara unlimited and I am getting the ASD and the jeep won't crank or start. I swapped the relays and no change. I think it's the nutrial safety switch but to replace it is so hard as it's in the transmission. Can you please help?
Hi, 2011 jeep wrangler ASD fuse m19 keeps blowing, it cranks but won't start
I have a 2002 Dodge Ram pickup could this be the same issue I am having I have tried everything replacing relays and fuses replace the crank trigger the truck just died one morning right after restarting it from the remote start
My ASD relay just failed. No codes though. 2011 JGC.
Ahh sorry to hear, good luck!

Awesome video, helps immensely. Going through similar issue (intermittent stalling), and now I have some stuff to test out and investigate. Might just solve my problem...
Glad it helped!

I cleaned up the grounds, and tested all the cam & crank sensor wires, all good.

Can p0463 cause asd fuse to blow on 2016 jeep wrangler
Great video. I think I'm closer now to solving my intermittent stall. When the jeep warms up it stalls and it won't start until, with the key in "run" I hear the fuel pump kick on. I read that the ASD relay controls that so it seems I'm getting a short that tells the ASD that power is off then on. I've tries two ECMs. Which wire was the brown one that was broken called? My cherokee is a little different relay than the wrangler.
Great video guys... thanks for the info it helped quite a bit with tracking my issues...
Thanks!
Bypass probably means just bad pcm communication wire. If it was a sensor it would have a code for that.
Got a 2004 grand cherokee with a asd shot to ground any idea what can i check first
my daughters jeep tj just stopping, trying the trick with the asd but zero, turns over but nothing ,also tried the 3 turns with the ignition but nothing 😩

Just curious - do you know what the fourth port is for on that PCM? I only have three on mine (02 4.0).

Aww man :/
Great video.
Ahh sorry to hear this. Not really sure what to make of it, but it could be the asd relay. I would take this in
@@Garagecouple I actually just replaced the ASD relay just because it was so cheap, figured it couldn't hurt.
