    I'm 60 years old and this is what I was riding back then. Plus Honda twins and fours. Harleys. You guys really understand the value and technical knowledge of this old British steel. Thanks for posting this to help folks out. Oh by the way, your videos are well done.

    Holy crap! I watched a 4 hour video of Wes yacking his head off on the most boring topics you can imagine about a Triumph and BSA bike. Now I am so pumped on watching English 102!
    This has to be the most detailed video showing complete processing of maintaining and tuning your Triumph or BSA bike.

    I used to use a roll your own cigarrete paper in my points on my old AJS.Had to wedge the auto advance open on full advance with a piece of wood.Piston at 1/5 inch TDC with the paper just releasing.Mags are so good to work on.Used to use an old spoke in the sparkplug hole as vertical as possible to set height of piston.Enjoy these old bikes.Used to use the valve lifter to stop engine.No ignition switch fitted.

    Just found this. Amazing. Former and hopefully future Noirton owner. Wish you had Norton covered like your Triumph BSA material but wish I had this instead of just a Haynes manual back in the day.

    Loving all of these Lowbrow Customs videos. They're really helpful. I wish there were better close up shots of the different bolts under the engine (during the oil changing section) especially the large bolt he said NOT to touch. I couldn't see which one he was talking about.

Furthermore i have a bonnevile 750 and would like to know if i can install a magneto setup so as to eliminate the battery totally also would like to install a suitable cam for improved performance.     I know it’s just semantics but a “valve job” shouldn’t be mistaken for a valve adjustment. A valve job is the process of removing the valves and replacing and/or grinding or lapping both the seats and the valves. What’s being performed in this video is a valve adjustment…big difference.

    I don't understand the warning about switching on ignition on positive earth (ground) system with charger connected. If you are connected direct to the battery terminals, positive is positive and negative is negative, regardless of which one is grounded, so the current flow would be the same as with negative ground.

    At 3.00.42 you refer to the pilot jet but isn't that the needle jet? Only ask because I'm running rich on one cylinder (twin carb) and think it might be the pilot jet but have no idea what size I should go for and the Amal website points to a different piece than you did. Thanks for the video though, sooooo helpful!

      Pilot jets on mk 1 concentrics from 1968 on are pressed into the body and only come in 1 size. Earlier versions, and ones made for 2-strokes have a removable jet screwed into the hole in the underside of the main body on the intake side. In either case, the pilot jet will only influence the mixture up to about one quarter throttle. Assuming both carburettors have the correct main jets and throttle slides, a rich mixture could be caused by incorrect needle position, float level too high, or I once had the jet holder on one carb work loose and lower itself, giving the same effect as raising the needle.

    I heard something about tuning the cabs to where the slide is all the way down, and the air/fuel screw is almost all the way out, then turned in slowly till she sounds right. That's what I did. Is that weird?

    Amal GP carbs and monoblock carbs are considered smoothbore carburetors the concentric is not, the gasket on a concentric float bowl is key to holding the float pivot in place and the float bowl, I want to pay very close attention to the relationship . Properly engineered float bowl gasket is critical. On the mono block
    Carb the thickness of the gasket is super critical between the jet block and the jet holder, The gasket is almost an eighth of an inch thick it keeps the carb slide from binding when you open the throttle wide open, if the engine is running when this happens, you have your hands full to say the least, Killswitch at the ready. Animals will also bind up if the flanges are warped , Flange carburetors are a stupid idea, that’s why spigot /rubber mounted carbs were invented. At my family Bsa dealership we learn not to use the O-rings, we used a couple paper gaskets and A phenolic spacer 16th of an inch. Phenolic is a heat block. Paper gaskets on either side of the heat block. We finished them off sometimes with good old 3M electrical tape, About three revolutions of tape on the spigot . Back to the mono block guard leave the gasket off a jet block holder and screw it into the carburetor until it stops you’ll find it at Fred Meyer’s before the shoulder seats against the base of the carb body, on some other ones I worked on it stopped at 32nd of an inch away from seating flush. One carburetor I worked on I disassembled it 22 times before I found out the problem.😡. In 1971 my brother and I went to service school for Bsa, the last service School they ever had. Dennis Manning from Bub. Enterprises was our teacher, he was working for Harley Davidson, and moonlighting teaching service school for triumph and Bsa, trying to put his ass through college. Can you say conflict of interest?

    Hi I'm in the U.K. and have a U.S. import T100. It's fitted with the same chrome fork shrouds as your bobber/chop in the video. My question is are these an after market item. Much appreciated video guy's.

      Nobody makes aftermarket FC1 shrouds right now. Factory Metal works used to, but haven't been available for a year now. The hardest part of a pre unit front end to acquire, ask me how I know....

      Most people know the difference, but it is still common vernacular to call what is motorized a motor and an engine both. For example: motorcar, motorcycle, motorized bicycle.

    Why on earth are you putting the degree wheel on the wrong side of the engine? It’s very unpractical and in some cases even completely useless.
